Posted: 6/30/2006 9:22:32 AM | I'm still unsure as to why women like guitarists. They all have huge egos, and think that just because they can double tap or play Eruption semi-correctly they are God's gift to stringed instruments. The BASS PLAYER is where it's at. They never get any glory (outside of Les Claypool and Flea, can YOU name a famous bass player?) but they are the ones laying down the groove for the band, and working DAMN hard at it, too. As an added bonus, we're the ones with rhythm.
I've had a couple girls tell me I look sexy on stage, but that's not why I play. I play because I love the bass, I love music, and it's a great way for me to express myself. And yes, because I can make the house shake with my amp.

I’ve been playing guitar since I was in grade 3, have done jazz for about 9 years, and now classical and flamenco. And I can assure you, women (and men) are impressed with my playing but I’ve yet to hear it called sexy.  | |

So far you had been enjoying my posts and thought I was an "intelligent young woman."
Then CRASH BANG BOOM I dared to post in your "Do women like X" thread and suddently I'm an immature ****.
How can this be? Could it be that you didn't catch the sarcasm of my post? I mean I even mentioned the nimble fingers of a guitarist HINT HINT. Or do I have to club you over the head with a gibson to get you to read between lines?
I have a better idea. As I don't want to waste a perfectly good gibson. In the future I will email you in advance of my posts to explain to you which parts will carry sarcasm and divulge any hidden meanings that may be left undiscovered.*

Posted: 6/30/2006 5:19:43 PM | IMO, if you are musically inclined, it definitely adds to your aresnal of positive traits which are appealing to the opposite sex. Like that film character Napolean Dynamite said, "I need skills...you know, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills... Girls only want boyfriends who have great skills." Everyone loves music and if you a sweet angelic voice like John Tesh or you can work the panflute like Zamphir, you'll definitely stand out. That said, I have to agree with an earlier post by OceanWanderer. Those who play with passion get the nod...and those who play for attention are seen as frauds. Case in point, "that guy" in high school who brought his guitar to parties. Some might have enjoyed his antics, but most most saw it for what it really was. FROMAGE.
So, in answer to your question CelestialTrance, YES, I would sleep with you.

As to people that can't take the time to type 'you' instead of 'u', oh well. Annoys the crap out of me too, because I work on computers, I type 60WPM no errors, and I always take the time to actually type out full words. But this is the 21st century, where people think "why bother actually *learning* how to multiply 8x5, when we have calculators to do that for us? why learn proper grammar and spelling, when we have grammar checkers and automatic spell checking to take care of it for us??".
Oh, as to guitar... eh, I play, I'm not great, and I'm not consistent about it... I pick it up when I feel like it, because I enjoy it, not trying to be the next EVH or anything. Actually usually play more acoustic, dylan/dead/clapton/neil type stuff, some country. Done a little poetry/songwriting.
But, it has romanced the ladies from time to time... | |
