| Do woman like Guitarists?
Posted: 7/26/2006 12:28:13 AM | Personally, I find that anyone who can truly appreciate music and put their heart into playing an instrument in their spare time, just for the love of it... is someone I'd like to be around. Passion for the guitar just means he's capable of other kinds of passion, not to say at all though that being able to play the guitar makes you some God of Love, but it's appealing for sure. Love the music, people!  | |

You just have to be passionate about the music you play... If you aren't, then you just may be faking it... Huh? No woman likes a fake. Give it your all and "everybody" not just "women"...But, "everybody" will respect you for it.
Respect is the key to any art.
The more respect you get for your art... the more attractive women will find you.
Well... That's my two cents.

Posted: 7/26/2006 8:07:53 AM | Well, we play guitar for ourself, not for woman. It is a passe-temps for me. Whenever you feel alone, guitar sound is your best friend. Woman can leave you, but not the guitar.
About art, I think everything can be an Art if you are creative enough. Creativity is not free and can't be bought but has to acquire.
I like saxophone too, but no time to learn it. sigh~ | |

funny enough my girl... she loves accoustic guitar... me I love heavy distorted avant gaurd jazz-metal-funk-fussion...
so yeah I play accoustic for her and have even started to write songs that she might enjoy...
I am a sap that way though... and since she likes it... all good baby all good! | |

Posted: 10/5/2006 12:46:47 PM | I have played in bands for years touring and doing studio-work.
I have played in many different styles over the years, and have
played some big shows with famous players. It has been in my
experience that learning to play the instruments I play (including
voice), that I have not received any extra attention from the ladies.
Most nights it was back to the room for a pizza, a beer, shower,
and bed.......... Alone. As one poster pointed out,.... The women
go after the stars and heros... Fame and power are what attracts
on the larger scale.
What I have found however is that expression through my words
and music have allowed me the chance to communicate much
easier with people, especially if I have performed that night. Look
at the history of the artist,..... Most create their best works when
alone and lonely. Note that many artists loose their edge once
married with children. I have found in my life that the women who
are attracted to me because I am an artist, eventually resent the
fact that I'm an artist. Being creative takes a lot of solo-time.
Many women cannot handle being second to one's art.
Create for creation sake, not to get some. Then there is honesty in
the work.

The steriotype is mostly true. They usually have huge egos, have some kind
of substance abuse problem, and are immature and undependable. Sorry if I
offended any humble, clean and sober, mature and dependable guitar players,
I know there are some out there!
Now that I think about it, maybe it wasn't the guitar playing that attracted
me at all, maybe it was the long beautiful hair! That is hard to find with a
lot of other professions! | |

Sooooo... its not about the babes at all... honest.... Its not about the hot babes at 2:00 am that are still hanging around after drinking all night that have been watching you pour out your soul all night... and digging it.... Honest.... Its all about the drunk doooods that didn't score that night saying, "man, you smoke on that thing". Right-O.
(note: there was a healthy dose of sarcasm there. Most chicks that go to bars could care less about "the band" in this day and age -- they are there with their friends, with a guy, or are going to be hit on all night while you strum-a-lum-lum. Good luck. You'll do _almost_ as well at the bars at closing time with a good wing man as any competent lead guitar/singer/band dude... that's willing to stay until closing time to pick up the more desparate folk that hang around until 2:00 am. Me -- i'm always schlepping my equipment at that time anyway. SUCKS.) | |

I *LOVE* the sound of a guitar, and frankly, I'm not coordinated enough to play it myself (I've tried... many times... I still do on occasion)... anyhow, my point was for me it's the guy having a skill that I wish I had but don't that makes it attractive.... Plus the sound of a guitar is amazing- especially if he has a great voice and sings too... | |

A guy onstage that commands an audience would definately qualify. A guy who used his sock to wipe his ass because he didn't make enough money to buy toilet paper while playing on a street corner probably would not.   So unless you have a following, women won't shove up in droves just because you have a picture of a guitar in your profile.
With that said, I also think that musicians, not just guitarists, have a venue to demonstrate their sensitive side. This can be attractive to women who are appreciative or share a similar interest in music or expressive arts.
Bassists (in rock music) don't get glory because their job is to provide the bones of the rhythm. Bass frequencies are felt physically more than they are heard audibly. So it's easier to distinquish a guitar from the pulse of the bass guitar and drum. Thus, the raving stylistic meglomania associated with technical guitarists tends to dominate the human ear. But when you think about it, under all that screeching, ear piercing pinch harmonics and power chords, they audience is swaying and moving to the pulse of the bass and drums. As an aside, I have often wondered if bass frequencies produce a response on the female body similar to that of a motorcycle (ie. the belief about "why women ride motorcyles") (oh flame me - I love it, lol).
Oh, and Celestial...dude, what's up with the hate mail on Jasmine? I got where she was coming from. I thought that the way you jumped on her was really rude (not that she needs me sticking up her, that's obvious by how she handled it). | |

Posted: 10/12/2006 8:34:03 PM | | thank you...its bout time we get some recongnition!! drummers have 2 use all four of their limbs with 10 times the stamina of all three other band members, combined!(depending on the music of course) but still...can we start getting some love too? we gotta play hard, soft, fast,slow, upbeat, offbeat, and each arm and leg at a different tempo. does because we sit the whole time make it look easy? | |

And hot damn can my little drummer boy do all that and more! Girls don't just settle for a guitarist....go for a kickass drummer, who can pick one out on the guitar and who has a sweet singing voice!
I just realised I'm gettin' the best of all worlds here!!!
