| Question about condoms........ Posted: 7/3/2006 12:41:41 PM | | Well, I personally wouldn't just rely on condoms to protect against pregnancy. That's why, BEFORE you are intimate with someone, you should know whether or not they are on the pill. And talk about it. | |

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 7/3/2006 5:03:35 PM | I believe that salt water is a fairly good spermicide so try doing it a a salt water spa bath.
Whales have the opposite problem, to get pregnant during the mating season the two leap out of the water aiming at one another, meet and mate, in mid air, within two seconds, and fall back into the water.
So before any more ladies gripe about premeture ejaculation spare a thought for the poor whales.

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 7/4/2006 2:54:18 AM | I can relate to what you are saying about condoms, and wanting to kniow that you are not going to have one break "accidentally". If you are using a condom that fits, adn you can get different sized ones, as well as a water based lubricant, or make sure your partner is "ready" beforehand, thatn that will reduce the breakage issue. If it is more a pregnancy issue, use a spermicidal foan and a condom, or talk about using another form of bc along with the condom. There are never any guarantees, tho...unless you are willing to forgo tha act completely...which I for one,am not willing to do....being smart and communicating with your partner can help to ease some of your concerns... | |

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 7/6/2006 12:06:48 PM | The only thing 100% effective is no sex at all.. I know a few ppl who got pregnant with usin condoms and birth control pills. Its proven that if used properly condoms are 97-98% effective and birth control pills are 99.9% effective. | |

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 7/6/2006 12:19:02 PM | Like with everything in life there are risks. Condoms do help to prevent pregnancy and STD's, but like you said, accidents happen. Condoms can break or come off. You have to be really careful. If pregnancy is what you are worried about then make sure the girl is on some sort of birth control. Then if there is a problem with the condom you still have some security.
Also, if something does happen with the condom then you always have the choice of the morning after pill which will stop conception.
It's all about being prepared and educated on the topic. But remember that no matter what you use nothing is 100% sure. So in essence you need to be prepared to have a child if you are having sex. Even with condoms and birth control I've heard of people gettign pregnant. You never know.

Ok I know that condoms are supposed to be a pretty effective prevention to pregnancy and std's, but I still have this fear about the pregnancy factor. How safe r these condoms?
Celestial, I could introduce you to my neice (condom) , my nephew (IUD), my nephews twins (bc Pill), and a few siblings of mine (condoms).
Nothing is guaranteed :)

I know plenty of vasectomy families too...
Antibiotics can counteract the efficacy of the pill. Cough syrup/decongestants can thin the cervical mucus and make it easier for the sperm to travel onwards. Putting on a condom incorrectly is probably the #1 reason condoms break. Wearing the wrong size can account for it slipping off during coitus. Spermicidal foams make her taste like chemicals and can cause irritation in some (like me)... and you have to plan ahead with that one.
Only way to guarantee not to get pregnant or contract any diseases is to abstain 100%.

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 9/19/2008 8:24:48 AM | A woman can only get pregnant for a few hours during a month when she has ovulated and if there is a viable egg. If during those few hours the egg meets sperm it fertilises the egg. If the egg then goes on to implant, manages not to be spontaneously rejected or any of a 100 other things go wrong, then she is pregnant. With all the things that go wrong, and then you factor in all the couples who are infertile anyway, yet condoms still have too large a failure rate in preventing pregnancy. I also have friends with babies conceived while using condoms. When one of my friends asked her doctor about it her doctor laughed and said condoms are overrated. | |

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 9/19/2008 8:52:41 AM | Children do not always make someone else's life better, some people do NOT want children. At age 23 I KNOW that I will NEVER have children, depsite what most older people tell me that I will change my mind, and don't be silly.
If someone is young and finishing school and not in a serious relationship, then YES, children can make your life for the WORSE...
Just because children make you driven and work harder, doesn't mean that it's the case for everyone out there. Don't judge. Some of us do NOT like, enjoy or want children around.

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 9/19/2008 9:16:06 AM |
the mid to high 90 percentile for effectiveness.
Ever wonder how they measured effectiveness percentage?
WW envisions:
Some lab guy reviewing the entire load caught in the condom, spots an exceptionally strong swimmer, and decides, "Yup, Yup, this guy would've won the gold".
Or do they take one ovulating woman, get a guy to do her with protection, and then immediately bring in a second guy who does her again without, and then if she gets pregnant, do a dna match, then mark it down as a win for the condom?
And they have to do this at least one hundred times! More like one hundred or one thousand times one hundred. I wanna know where they find the women who volunteer for these kinda tests.

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 9/23/2008 1:30:22 PM | | I've used hundreds of condoms over the years and I get a fair amount of breakage. I know how to put them on properly ( my dad's a doc and he explained it when I was a teen ), I'm also no donkey so am at a loss as to why it happens. Let's just say it feels like 'golden shot' sometimes.. That said, simple rule is : if you're not prepared to deal with getting her pregnant don't stick it in... There's plaenty of other amazing things you both can do that are totally safe. :o) | |

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 9/23/2008 1:33:58 PM | They break- you could double wrap, though I've never known anyone to do that buy ones with spermicide on them-if there's a breakage, it will help. buy a bottle of spermicide for that matter
Bottom line, I guess, if you're not ready for the responsibilities of sex, don't do it

| Question about condoms........ Posted: 9/29/2008 8:25:19 PM | | I got pregnant while useing a condom. If your really that worried about it double protect yourself. Have your girlfriend go on some other form of birth control and then use a condom. Dont count on the other form of birth control to completly prevent pregnancy either though. If I remember right my doctor told me that the pill if taken right is 98% efective also. So it could be an option. Then there is also the shot and other forms. The shot is kinda fool proof. She goes to the doctor once every three months gets the shot. But you really have to use condoms also just to make sure. Not to mention the help in preventin stds. | |
