I actually had a profile, with my picture up...and didn't really have a problem with it...but now I have my new profile, and it seems I get more interest this way too! Guys message me, saying "You seem interesting" or.."Your profile is funny!" and then we talk, and sure I'll show a picture if I have one on the computer haha...it's more fun this way tho! Some people only look at a picture... the profile is more important, and if you can look past a picture, that's awesome!
I have a dream of finding a guy, who will love my personality, and my comedic side, and won't ask for my picture....and then, we'll meet...and he'll see me for the first time and say "Oh my, you are 1000 times more beautiful then I imagined!" and he'll mean it, cuz he got to know ME, the real ME!

1. Because some people don't photograph well/
2. The Scene or Back ground may intimate.

I had a decent life and still do but I don't want to be passed over by a really good woman because I have been to places she has never been to for one reason or another........And only Dreams!!!!!!
I've been blown off simply by a picture!.................

Posted: 8/27/2006 2:47:25 PM | For me it doesn't matter if someone has a picture up on their profile, but don't expect me to meet someone that knows what I look like and I don't know what they look like. There are too many crazies out there and I'm not meeting anyone even in a public place that I can't recognize. At least provide a picture via private email.
And for those who put fake pictures up with the notion that the person will get to know you and like you anyway, wake up. If you lie about what you look like, what else are you lying about?

Posted: 8/27/2006 6:21:06 PM | well I do not have a pic up for a couple reasons. Everyone may not agree with me but it does not matter.
1) I feel that I am an attractive person and alot of pervs will look at my pic and start to e-mail me. I am not looking for that kind of attention.
2) It shows that someone is not so shallow as some on this forum. They dont care so much about personal apperances that is why they take the time to read your profile. If and when someone takes the time to read my profile with a pic and contact me I put on my cam and let them see what I look like right in the IM screen. I feel that is being fair enough.
3) It is a matter of person preference on my part not wanting to have pic up here. I do not want everyone to see me and know who I am in my area. But my biggest reason is to try and weed out the shallow and the pervs from the rest of us. | |

But what is ugly to one , may be beauty to another, so that shouldn't stop you.This thing about keeping professional life and personal life separate, unless all the employees where you work are cruising the personal sites it sounds pretty unlikely and a poor excuse. And what is wrong with posting a personal ad on a dating site anyway. What is the big hairy deal with someone knowing you are looking for a date or whatever. Sure as heck better then going out to some smokey bar,drinking and looking around for an eligible single guy or girl. Like you would actually meet a decent single person in a bar. Anyone can get a pic uploaded to a site. Technology is everywhere, neighbors,friends, libaries. Or send one snail mail, most sites will upload one for you if you are that technologically deprived or don't know how. Its easy to learn for free online, they have sites where you can take computer lessons for free. You have to be yourself and that includes how you look, but if you are not honest then you won't find the person right for you. And if you are married , stay the hell home where you belong or get a divorce. I can't stand cheaters. And post a pic of you that is recent, not when you were twenty in the military or a cheerleader or something.   | |

As for all this shallow crap, that is just what it is. I am not shallow, I read the entire profile and my decision is not based on the picture alone. But there has to be some attraction, and anyone who would go to meet a stranger without knowing what they look like is crazy. I know women who have had bad experiences this way. One the person goes to the meeting place you don't know what they look like and they know what you look like and you think they didn't show and they follow you home. HELLO!!!! Anybody in there???? This lady was attacked. You better believe I know what you look like before I meet you and have had a number of conversation with you too, because after about 3 or 4 conversations I can pretty much weed out the alky's, fruitcakes and liars, because by this time they have slipped up and the cheapo's.

I have yet to read in the Patriot News that someone met online and was snatched or whatever...............
And I 'll stick to my guns I want a face to face meeting..........I can tell after talkng with someone on the phone if things go good there and we meet. 30 seconds if anything goes forward.................
My employer is the largest Transport company in the World. I've had to under go TWO background checks. One for TSA and another for me to enter Canada.........

One was dragged to a hotel and raped repeatedy and then left to make her way with no purse and half her clothes gone. Sorry, but a little common sense goes a long way. Its different for men. I am not saying a man has never been raped it happens, but the likely hood is very small. I remember a break out from a womens prison , they car jacked a guy and took turns raping him repeatedly. He went to the police after they dumped him out of his own car and took off and the police thought it was funny. I don't think so, violence is violence against a man or a woman and rape is not about sex , it is about control, brutality and violation. You are not old school, just naive. A face to face is fine, but after I know what some one looks like and have talked to them a few times. The first few times everyone is on their good behavior, even on the phone, when they start to relax with you is when all the crap comes out. Oh I didn't tell you but I am an alcoholic and I still have blackouts even though I haven't drank for seven years. I quit when I woke up naked in an alley. Rite Aide, CVS, Eckerd, etc. ALL carry "disposable" digital cameras for around $10-$15.
You take the shots, return the camera to the store, they will take the pix off the camera,
and [either] give you Prints, or Put the pix on a CD for you.
Once on a CD, easier than pie to upload to POF.
When POF asks, you "" browse "" for the file, U just point to the CD drive on computer,
{most probably the D drive } and just pick the picture you want to use.

I don't have a pic posted because I don't have a scanner but I can send a pic to anyone's e-mail if they want it.
I have heard that excuse before...but if you have the ability to e-mail it...you should be able to up-load it to Plenty of Fish
Not trying to sound mean or rude...just pointing out that isn't a viable reason to not have a pic posted.
This argument only makes sense from a technological point of view. For those who don't want people taking a picture that sits idly on a webpage, copying it into photshop, and screwing around with it, is not the ideal scenario for some people. So yea, sounded rude, dude. | |
