| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 9:22:15 AM | <<<<<<< sleeps with a highly trained German Shepherd. Started with a good basis of love and daily training since puppiehood, and has now moved on to schutzhund training. The bond is what makes the dog loyal, and obedient, as you are it's pack leader. A properly trained dog is well socialized, shows no aggression unless it's pack is threatened (or it is ordered to attack), is better behaved than your average housepet, does not require a leash, and lays down when children approach it to pull on it's ears. It is a weapon of deadly force, to be highly respected. It is also an extremely accurate judge of character, responding to the inner intent of the person it is meeting, NOT the outer artifice. If only we could see and sense the con as well as a dog...online dating would be completely safe.
<<<<<<< is never, EVER is afraid to answer the door, meet new people, or fear that someone with a criminal nature will follow me home/break in unannounced. Any man that does not understand that and value it for it's safety factor, does not really have my best interest at heart. As with BurningDzire above^^^ if you rate, you get the other side of the bed, the dog is more than happy to sleep on the floor if told to.

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 9:58:20 AM | At present I have two wonderful boy cats... They don't sleep with me as much when the weather gets warmer.... but ..Mercury tends to curled up by my side, while Mars wraps his legs around my neck with his face snuggled under my chin.. He makes sweet soft cat sounds every now and then ... and I reply with "love you baby" or hummm sounds. It feels good to feel love and to give love... If I'm feeling sad or can't sleep, Mars seems to know I need some extra loving and he snuggles right up next to my face and sings his "love" songs which lull me to sleep..
I would not kick them out of bed for a man... but I am sure that they would probably either wedge in between.. or choose to find a more quieter location.
Most mornings I awake to find them looking at me. The moment they realize I'm awake they gently start their songs of love... what a perrrrrrfect way to start my day...
My dog died last July and although she rarely slept on the bed ... she was more than welcome... Mercury used to snuggle with her... He has adjusted to her being gone...although I am sure if I got another dog.. He would be pleased to have new buddy.. One of the men from my past, had two dog and two cats ... The nights I slept over I knew I was going to have to share with the whole gang.. often I awoke with the big rottie's head next to mine - snoring away! ....
PETS forever!!! They have unconditional love for me... somthing I have never found in a human....

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 10:52:30 AM | Unfortunately for the animal it becomes the victim of human slavery and misunderstood love. That may not have been natures intent in the process of evolution, however there are many examples of symbiosis.
<<< slowly walks around the place and turns the fans on to get rid of all of the hot air (and verbosity).
gotta go have a nap with my dawg...she's a great cuddler
Your point has much merit, however animals , dogs in particular do not always or only differentiate by criteria we seek.
That may not have been natures intent in the process of evolution, however there are many examples of symbiosis.
P.S. Always wanted to meet a guy that knows what dogs think and how they differentiate things...as well as someone that believes that they know nature well enough to know that it has intent and is not simply random...

Who knew sleeping with pets,...... could get so rowdy.....
Those who sleep with your pets to the right side of the room, and those that don't, to the left....At the sound of the bell come out and.... shake hands, who cares if you do or don't sleep with your pets.
There's room for us all, even your pets.(..word of the day SYMBIOSIS.... lol..)

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 3:10:42 PM | Hmmm pretty ugly looking stats Been pretty close a few times but that was due to low blood pressure to brain!!! As far as the furry creatures go, The mutts pretty much own the bed if they are just sharing with me, However if a pretty young thang were to show up and have issues with them, they would be out in a flash, Fresh linen the works, way rather share the bed with a smooth soft wonderful woman, than the psycho dogs.... Oh and if you bring the fuzzy cuffs...... a little b&d can be a whole lotta fun. | |

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 7:31:12 PM | | Some nights my cat sleeps on the bed by my feet. Some nights he sleeps in a little cozy spot he made in the closet. Some nights he sleeps under the bed. | |

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 7:51:56 PM | | So... um.... how about those pets? Sleeping on beds? | |
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 8:00:37 PM | I have a 4 lb toy poodle...and yes she sleeps with me...and no I would not kick her out of my bed for a man...she has been my constant companion since my husband died...but of course...there would be moments when she wouldn't be allowed on the bed, of course...lol | |

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/28/2007 10:07:23 PM | Well, I have stated before that I love sleeping with my dog but ML1, re:message #118:
WAXED???!!!
I certainly don't wax my dog before she sleeps with me...well that would be just...welllllll.....kinky maybe?
Thanks for the debugging offer though
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/29/2007 1:33:35 AM | ~anicca~ You are most certainly welcome for the debugging, worms included well except for one inzywinzytiniwini one I guess it's OK sleeping with a dog a lil fur here 'n there keeps you warm. Like I said , done that when warranted. Find the hound is a bit small and too nerveous and their farts are lethal, the horse is a bit too large and their farts settle as dew on you. Suppose I'll ask my old Grizzly friend next time , afterall we've been sharing few meals of my moose before... or maybe I'll try a Muskox, now there is a hairy creature, hmmm on second thought that'll be sleeping with sheep ...dunno I'm not from that part of the world
I just found some dogs I 've slept with have sharp teeth 'n this ole cat is a bit sensitive to having his sparse fur ruffled , you know that's different from grooming, a lil gnawing for fleas and ticks which I quite like.

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/29/2007 1:50:30 AM | I sleep with my dog, and she does not stray from her topics of concern: food, love, walks, work, cuddles...unlike most men
However, after having spent some years married, some years living with men and dogs, I have to say the lethality of gas issue has always been won by the men...
And most dogs only bare their teeth when they feel threatened...in some way... a smart trainer praises dogs to gain their respect....but I won't go into conditioned responses...think that has already been covered somewhat...
Off to bed...and you guessed it, with a hairy, smelly DAWG (not talking about my last boyfriend).
G'night, sleep tight, don't let the little buggies bite
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/29/2007 10:37:06 AM | My pet beaver rarely leaves the bed without me. It's all I can do to rouse it's cranky hungry a$$ outta bed some mornings. | |
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/29/2007 11:00:40 AM | think I know how you feel archeanel ; As I told anicca above I'm happy I have those lil pet tenants in the fur and they get very unruly and itchy in the morn so I gotta get out and stand the hair up on end to do a head count, retie the pink and blue bows and get every one to behave for the day. Sheeesh did I say I wasn’t sleeping with pets? | |
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/29/2007 11:36:44 PM | thank you for showing me how erroneous i m on every point i ve made, and showing me that my opinion is non valid again........,
you did broke the rules by using my user name and deforming my charachter......,
"my previous commentary is clearly based on your solidarity towards someone else and directed at btd and myself..."- hahahahahah, indeed quite humorous.....
" I did previously ask politely to refrain from such commentary".... .. - you asked me politely not to vocalise my opinion..because it is different from yours..hmmmm.....i think someone has developed a god complex since they have acquired a pseudo -power ..........just my humble oppinion though..lol
let's get along.....hmmmm i guess that actually wouold better read.....lets get along on my terms....hahhaha.........
in conclusion i would say........what a waste of time ...debating with a dictionary ...... just my humble opinion again.

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/30/2007 7:20:53 AM | hmmmm...can't wait to hear what KIA has for a response this time
OT: Years ago I used to let my Sheltie sleep with me, at the end of the bed. My current dog is much bigger and rather hairier so isn't allowed up on any of the furniture so no more sleeping with pets for moi. I 'shed' onto the pillow cases quite enough without having help from the dog!
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/30/2007 7:47:20 AM | NRK ..too funny ....that is what razors are for...oops.....you mean the hair on your head, sorry just had to say that and of course just kidding with you .
OT ...I have 2 German Shepherds and I would never even dream of letting them sleep in the bed or even let them in my bedroom....
I once started dating a lady that had 2 large dogs ...was over at her house for a romantic dinner and eve. and she was wearing a summer dress and a halter .....I could not believe what I witnessed, her Rotti started licking her all over her bare skin and the other dog was busy scratching and growling and biting for fleas , but when finished joined in on the taste testing of her skin including the hands and face....
Was I going to kiss that face or let her touch me with those hands? NOPE..LOL...and her bedroom smelled like a kennel....but it is great reading all these posts and now knowing who would prefer a pet over a human partner though...LOL..

| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/30/2007 8:20:57 AM | I agree, Brian. And for those of us who have been with controlling men and know how those relationships go, it's great to see them rise to the surface in this thread as well.
______
This morning, the sun shone through my window as I awoke. My two Rhodesian Ridgebacks hadn't moved from the position they were in when they came to be with me last night. I sang "Good Morning" to my beautiful Darla. She wagged her tail, happy for the contact, a quick kiss (not a tongue bath).
My daughter's Ridgeback came upstairs, walked around the bed to wag good morning. Doesn't lick because he's not a kisser, but he is a patroller and likes to know that everyone is safe. Then he went back downstairs to watch over my daughter.
I slept soundly and safely. Woke up unjudged, uncorrected, at peace.
Does this mean I will spend the rest of my life alone? Perhaps.
Does having dogs in general limit my "options"? Perhaps.
Do I still believe that if I give up what I love for a relationship (what kind of person asks that?), that the relationship will be better than the sacrifrice? In nearly 45 years I have not found that to be true.
And no, I don't need your private emails of fake sympathy, "preaching" and trying to "correct" me. I'm still not going to sleep with you. As long as I have my dogs and access to batteries, I refuse to settle for men who don't hear me, value me, respect me or employ adult dialogue skills that include negotiation and compromise--even on my part. If you don't think I'm worth that much, that's your right, but I *do*.
edit: I forgot to mention that my dogs also think I am inORdinately funny!!!

|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/31/2007 4:12:55 PM | | Uh know I think it is gross to sleep with your pets all that fur all over your bed and flea's yuck hey remember that old saying you sleep with dog's you get flea's | |
|
| Sleeping with pets Posted: 5/31/2007 4:57:32 PM | You know. You are so right. My short-haired dogs are covered in Cotton wood fur and I most certainly NEVER EVER bathe them and they are so weighted down with fleas that they look like big mounds of poppy seeds. How silly of me.
I'm so glad that men never smell or carry diseases--whew! In fact, I think I will set up my king size bed so that I can have two or three men sleep with me every night.
(argh--I just can't keep myself from posting in this thread. I'm just having wayyy too much fun.)
