with any luck ,.... to soak their heads.
100% flea free home here too, unlike the odd louse I have let in in the past LOL.
My dog sheds waaaaay less than any hairy man does/did in my bed or anywhere else all over the house for that matter. I used to know one guy who actually grabbbed fistfuls of his chest hair and then dropped it on the floor ~ BARF~,..... ok I am off to hurl at that memory now.

for that man I would have suggested the persian hot wax treatment once a month, flea collar 24/7, a worm pill possibly be in order, as well as a choke collar & chain fastened to the gate post
and sleep with the dog an dgrome for fleas

EWW! I can just imagine all the bugs, dust mites, fleas that people have crawling all over them while they sleep. I do not need to breath that shit in my alergies are bad enough. yuck.
people who lets their animals sleep in their bed have serious issues, they are letting their pets dominate them, same goes if you let your animal lick your face, they think they own you and not that you own them.... and people wonder why their animals dont listen?

most men are dogs anyways and pant enough in bed as it is..... I dont need my german/shep rotty breathing dogg breath in my face at 6am drooling all over my pillow waking me up to let him outside to pee... most men are capable of peeing by theirselves.. lmao

I think if you take out the words animals/pets from the above quote and replace it with the words man/men, it may reflect the knowledge of those of us twice the poster's age...

Let' see:

people who lets their men sleep in their bed have serious issues, they are letting their men dominate them, same goes if you let your man lick your face, they think they own you and not that you own them.... and people wonder why their men dont listen?

THATS BETTER!

On defence

<div class="quote">most men are dogs anyways and pant enough in bed as it is..... waking me up to let him outside to pee... most men are capable of peeing by theirselves.. lmao

“most men are dogs anyways” K, most of us have been known to pee on the odd tree
“...pant enough in bed as it is.....” that’s cuz he does all the work

“most men are capable of peeing by theirselves” We are indeed, but as true gentlemen we would never turn down a helping hand

anicca

be nice now the young lady has a point, what about your lil green men dropping you back into the corfield?? Isn't that an issue with you???

getting real confused here, could you elaborate then what it means when they are demanded to lick elsewhere? Does that mean the man becomes the submissive?
Huh ??? isn’t the submissive in control???

I have not read one comment on how the pets feel about all this. Very anthropocentric of you all. Please show this thread to your cat/dog and get their response before proceeding any further.

Oh, but you assume wrongly.

Why just this morning I was speaking with Darla (she's one of my dogs) and she said the following:

"Anthropoligically speaking, my two-legged friend, I've given a lot of thought to the banter on POF as it relates to me, my mother and my cousin and how strangers to us all feel the need to tell us the dynamics that exist in our home. "

"Hmmm," I said to Darla.

"Historically we dogs were little more than parasites, really. But as was stated earlier, we have developed a symbiotic relationship to (wo)man. Within this symbiosis, we have discovered that the human-canine bond has many benefits that positively impact physical, mental and spiritual health. I have watched your pain as you've endeavoured to heal as a result of your marriage ending and your attempts to make new relationships work that too often appear one sided. It is my sincere desire that you know our relationship goes both ways. We both put as much into it as we receive. When I am near you, the body-mind-spirit benefits extend to me as well. When you are gone, I feel there is something missing. That is why I show you how happy I am that you're in my life when you come home from work or shopping or whatever. And while I think you articulate some things well to others, it is impossible to convey to any message--regardless of merit--to ears that refuse to hear. "

I nodded knowingly and she continued.

"You deserve to be loved as I love you--without reservation, judgment or malice. And if it ends up just being me and you, well then, I will do my part in laughing at your jokes, accompanying you on hikes, traveling to dog shows and sleeping guardfully at your side. Why? Because I'm simply a parasite, acting out of instinct. (And I have a sense of humour too.)"

At that, I took a large soup spoon and began scraping off the pounds of fleas from her filthy coat. Then I collected up a mountain of her hair and made ponchos for everyone in my neighbourhood out of her fur. And after she ate the rotting carcasses of seven local drug dealers, I let her lick the inside of my mouth. It just seemed like the thing to do.

Omg...why is it so bizarre to have pet on your bed? My kitties generally sleep with me and I like the company. My house is not in the best area anymore and even though I know they wont attack...its just nice to have them there. Mind you it got a little crowded when I had six, but we dealt with it. I vacuum the covers and wash the bedding all the time, I dont like cat hair all over either. But I can tell you they shed less and took up less room than the 6 month old african lion or bengal tiger I sometimes had in there! You know you are alive when you wake up with a tiger nose in your armpit..lol! I have always been an animal lover and frankly wouldnt want to be with someone who wasnt. So the issue of kicking them out has never come up. They do seem to understand when its "private" time and sneak back in later.
Btw, they dont have fleas and they dont stink. I clean the litter everyday and people who come over cant smell anything.

My Ruby says she'll call your Darla this week...something about lunch on the Drive...God I hate it when she goes on before I have had my coffee...she talks so much sometimes I just can't stand it....her cell bill is so high I need to put her on the family plan soon...and I am beginning to think that she considers me a parasite that I post on POF about her, rather than getting a life of my own...oh well, what can you do...

OMG i was almost fallen outta my chair at that banter, thought you were loonie. Until my 10 month old puppy came up, jumped on my lap, looked at the screen, and said " damn straight!" at that i instantly washed her mouth out with sosp, she is too young for such language.

but she bunks with me as well, the covers get washed with the sheets and are changed regularily, she isnt the jealous type either.

I was giggling too hard to post.

My kittens would tell you they rule the bed. There is "their" space which is everything except my pillow. There is also the alarm clock which means when they wake up, I wake up.

Would I let a man sleep in my bed? It isn't me that he'd have to convince. If he can get past the little demons and fall asleep knowing they are staring at him all night, good on ya! Otherwise, there's the couch because the kittens and I are quite happy without any extra bodies in "Their" bed.

Wonderful banter indeed , poetic thoughts and thus the thought of puppy love came to mind, inspired a look at some definitions obtained online I’d like to share.
But notwithstanding the following quotes my pets stay in the pasture or yard and there’ll be no licking of any of my bodily parts accepted.

1. puppy love

a) The love between a young couple within a few weeks of getting together. Not really true love, more blind affection - immature, young love. Typically occurs before one person becomes a b*tch
b) An act of bestiality. Usually illegal.

2. puppy love

a) to love someone as per the first sight as one sees a pup after it is just born and falls instantly in love.

b) Generally regarded as irresponsible and reserved for those inexperienced with relationships.

c) Generally regarded as someone who is incapable of love for another human focussing needs for companionship to an animal,

d) commonly a control issue as a weak human asserts power and control over the animal

3. puppy love

Basically, "puppy love" is a term used to describe what many kids/teenagers/whatever call love, implying that they are incapable of the same type of true love that adults are capable of. However, "puppy love" is most likely equally common among adults.

Anicca's Ruby, from Darla:

Yesterday it was very hot--not like when my person had a date (I think it was back in the 80's)--but hot like summer. We went for a walk in the skate park and I "swam" in the grass. Do you do that too, Ruby. Can I call you Ruby? Would you let me sniff you crinkly bum? I don't know why humans think that is so weird. It's like doing a criminal record check, health test and personality profile all in one.

Ruby, I sleep on the bed. Sometimes I fart on the bed. Once I even puked on it. I also go for car rides and hikes and dog shows and other stuff. But most importantly, I am the enforcer at home. Do you do that too? You know, if anything happened to my person, I think I would like to just die. Or kill a rabbit.

Not sure who in this forum can be defined as a pet hater; unless of course you refer to people who in their misunderstood love, or who for self serving interest and/or the self invented cause of humanitarianism apply rules to govern and enslave animals; force animals to live like a human, keep them in small enclosed spaces, who create breeds for profi tand resort to incest and causing genetic mishaps, which cause prolonged suffering to animals. I'd prefer to see animals to live free.
Who the heck are we (humans) playing the creator anyway? Slavery of our own kind was abolished some time ago for humanitarian reasons. Is it because the animal is less capable to defend against such domination by humans that we decide to allow keeping them on our terms???
OK I do admit I have pets too and I am guilty as well. Mine do live as free as circumstances allow and should I not be able to continue providing space and resources for their well-being I will certainly not keep an animal, no matter what my personal need may be.

Seems there was a trend to liberate and improve conditions for animals kept in zoos and aquariums, I’m all for it! So why are pets that we have been breeding for centuries an exception to having the right for freedom, because we took advantage of and altered their natural behaviour and bloodlines so that they they serve our individual needs???

The way I read previous commentary there are people who differ on where a pet sleeps or where it is kept.
Whoever wishes to kick out of bed another human for the sake of a pet or who wishes to engage in licking, kissing conduct with their respective pets may do so at their leisure, none of my beeswax and I can accept that such is their choice.

I think it is only fair my and others choice to differ in this regard and the decisions to live by different values are respected just the same.

everyone is entitled to their opinion, of course, but I guess some just like to keep hitting others over the head with theirs

I don't think I "misunderstand" my dog who in no way, shape or form is "enslaved" or "force[d] to live like a human." In fact, I think she is quite happy to have been rescued from the 'street life' she was living, knowing (to the best of her limited ability to 'know' anything) that she will be loved, fed and sheltered for the rest of her days.

The only thing that would make life better in her eyes, I'm sure, would be having the freedom to sleep with any of the 5 people in this home who have a bed with sheets and a comforter.

Oh...and maybe being allowed to kill the rabbits (and cats) we encounter on our walks.

You assume incorrectly...but thanks for the interesting off topic hijack attempt.
I was speaking of those who think so little of pet companions & those humans that treat them as full family members... as gross / dirty in some way / something wrong with them lol.

I never wanted my cat sleeping with me, but this would have meant locking her out of my bedroom. The resulting howling would be isufferable. The only issue I see in the matter is the possibility that I roll over on her. To her credit, she only comes on the bed when she knows I am awake and that I maight be a soft touch for a cuddle - and I usually give in.

I find it curious the many people who think it is such an issue.

Well I admit I sleep with my Kitty, but I would never have to kick her off the bed for the sake of someone because she is such a B***H and would get her nose out of joint she would leave.

But last night I had quite the oppisite problem my Kitty doesn't like other cats trying to sleep on her bed...... I was fast asleep only to be awoken by a cat fight on top of me in the pitch dark. Now I only have one Kitty so I woke up scared out of my wits to say the least Well I guess a cat came thru one of my open windows and decided to make himself feel at home and thought he could just jump up on the bed and sleep with me and Kitty But my Kitty put him in his place and chased him right back out the window he climbed in

ahhhhh hahaha
so you have a 'guard' cat. that's awesome! as a kid we had a family cat we called "animal". he was huge and used to chase neighbourhood dogs who barked at or took exception to our own dog. they were pals and used to sleep together (tho not on our beds)

A lot of people sleep with their pets. You would be surprised. I used to think that I was the only one who would let a dog or two in the bed, but now I know I am not alone. They don't have fleas. I think if you have grown up with pets it is easier to let them into your bed.

I dont think I would banish them from my bed but would teach them to be at the foot of the bed. I dont like dog hair or odors so generally my bed is clean anyway so that would probally not be an issue. My dogs sleep with me, always have except for while with my ex. Hmmm my dogs are still here....my ex isn't, enough said.
