| potty training my son HELP Posted: 11/22/2008 8:20:49 AM | | My boys' dad was in the picture but taking them to potty was "a woman's job" ( no offence). I found out that they just one day stand instead of sitting to pee. | |

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 11/22/2008 4:18:28 PM | 2 and a half is the perfect age- I do not agree with the other woman. There are great ideas to pick from. I would buy a bulk load of Match Box cars and every time he went number 1 I would give him one- did that for a week ... then I explain if he did Number 2 he would get a car because he mastered the nimber 1 so well. It worked- had him fully trained in one weekend!! Another idea I heard was throwing a Cherrio in the toilet and praising him for such good aim~!! | |

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 11/22/2008 9:05:09 PM | I asked my son what he wanted the most and he said he wanted dinosaurs. So he knew that if he went on the potty he would get what he wanted. It took awhile, but it worked and he ended up with his dinosaurs. Now the second boy, he was alot harder to train. I think it has alot to do with how much attention and praise you give them for going on the potty. If you make a huge deal of it they know that they are doing something good! It worked for me, took awhile like I said but finally got there:P Tissue paper works as well to aim at while they are going to the washroom. | |

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 11/30/2008 11:28:34 PM | well my daughter started going by herself at about two years and two months, and that is EARLY, so you probably want to introduce a potty right away and show him the basic functions and let him decide to use it. Dont force it on the kid or make it a real stressful sitatuion or it may just make it harder.
It took about eight months for my daughter to actually go on the potty from when i first introduced it to her, and boys usually take longer then girls. Most kids arent potty trained till three now a days anyways apparently...so just introduce it and whats the big deal if hes a bit later? Its not the end of the world.

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 11/30/2008 11:39:43 PM | | When it came to potty training my son I just let him do it on his time. I showed him what he needed to do. I got the underware and pull ups and when he wanted to do it he looked at me one day and said I want to go in the potty and there he went. I was told that you cant really push them. They will do it when they are ready as long as you show them how to do it then there isnt really nothing else that you can do but keep trying. It took a few times of him having accidents but then since then he has had no problems. Good luck! | |

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 12/2/2008 2:26:25 PM | | I potty trained my son. I tried on and off since he was 20 months but my son was about 3 when he finally did it. Since I waited he has no accidents and aims ALOT better. He's not the only one to do it this way either. The suggestion to wait came from some other parents. | |

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 12/2/2008 8:02:16 PM | hi I have a 4 year old son, and oh my lord he was hard but i decided to stop and when he's ready then it would just happen natural.
He is dead stuck on being a big boy, so i decided to put him in underwear even though i wasn't potty training. And guess what he learned within 1 week. If your child really wants to be a big kid then do what i did give him underwear. My so only learned 2 1/2 month ago and after 1 week of wearing the underwear he was an expert. He's never had an accident that is after the first week then he was fine. Dont forget if you use underwear let him run around with just underpants so this way you can see if he had an accident, also get him to go on every 15mins and then after 1 week try every 20mins and then every 30mins, after that he sould no on his own.
Its hard to ask someone who's child learned right away because every child is different so learn right away and some dont. Yours might be as stubborn as mine LOL.
Best of luck, ps.. dont get frustrated with him, its only washing if he goes in his underwear. And a child is smarter then you think they can sense your anger and to be honest they dont care....

| potty training my son HELP Posted: 12/2/2008 10:28:02 PM | | It's odd isn't it...potty training is so hard esp without an male figure around anymore, when its just the lil boy his mom his grandmaw, i guess kids will do it when they are ready, i know an child who did not "pee" in their potty chair, but wanted to sit on the "Big Potty" to "Poop"....My friend has an two yr old and he will not "pee" in the potty chair but he'll poop in the big potty......I'll say let them do it when they feel like they are ready, but it doesn't hurt to try sooner. | |
