| Meeting for the first time Posted: 7/7/2006 6:38:21 PM | I went to my first POF party and took along a girlfriend as I needed the security.....or thought I did. I saw only one POF'er I recognized and spoke.....he didn't know who I was.....oh well......guess I didn't make too much of an impression online. No one should be afraid to come alone.......friends are easily made! I find this to be a great group of people. | |

| Meeting for the first time Posted: 7/7/2006 7:50:50 PM | I get kind of nervous if people ask to meet after a few lines....it sort of sends up the kind of red flags that the question "what do you have on does".
I like to have a little rapport with people first. I'm a bit shy and more so in person.
I also would only meet in a public place.
A lady I work with who is recently widowed told me she met with a guy from an ad and spent the next two hours having him chase her around her apartment.
yikes.! | |

One way is insulting and condescending (which I despise) and the other is just expressing an opinion which I don't mind at all. Yes Miss P, there is a diffference I can be friendly with ANYONE who expresses an opinion and/or even that I get in disagreement with BUT make it personal (esp insulting my kids or relationship with them) or being insulted and it's a whole new ball game

Now thats just stupid. I guess if you wanna be spontaneous and meet someone you just talked to in a public place, ok... not that i would. But to meet a stranger at your house/apt? That's just stupid.
I was talking to a guy online and we were sorta clicking and one night he wanted to come over here after work (11 p.m.) and thought I was being ridiculous not letting him. Ermm I'm a single mother and I DON'T have the right to allow a stranger into my childs home. He disagreed and said he meets a lot of women at their homes for the 1st time. BS. Needless to say, we didnt talk anymore after that.

| Meeting for the first time Posted: 7/9/2006 9:53:32 AM | Grrr She's have no one to blame but herself if anything had happened to those children. Maybe she has the right to take that chance with her safety, but she does NOT have that right for her childrens. What the hell was she thinking???? | |

Actually, we are very close now.

| Meeting for the first time Posted: 7/10/2006 12:40:42 AM | Personally, I want to meet right away. I'm kind of an open book in conversation, and I don't like the idea of people who I've never met and don't really know walking around knowing all about me.
I hear people say that they feel safer chatting longer and getting to know the person better. I really don't understand that... the longer you talk, the more comfortable you get revealing personal details to someone who could be absolutely full of shit.
Discovering that I'd revealed private details about my sex life to a cute blonde who was actually an old friends 19 year old brother in disguise really hammered that lesson home for me...

| Meeting for the first time Posted: 7/10/2006 5:57:29 AM | ^^^^^ Makes you think for sure. Makes you think you shouldn't be revealing private details of your sex life to people you've never met. There are other things to chat about... surely... aren't there? | |
