| Girls, would you mind if your guy carried a concealed weapon? Posted: 7/9/2006 6:31:27 PM |
I'm truely not a wu$$. Also, i think she is correct to stand up for her rights in public (and people are ruder than ever), but I suspect it will be me who actually will have to do the "standing." Anyway, I would like to be the one to pick the hill I die on. Know what I mean? Any suggestions? Thanks. There's a saying - "discretion is the better part of valour", and there's a reason for it.
You're better off getting a new "piece of a.." than you are a new "piece"

Whenever the subject of guns comes up I always notice a huge difference in the responses from Americans vs Canadians, I think it's a whole different ballgame there. I know nurses who carry guns in the States and it would never even cross my mind to have one , ever.

I do, however, having a problem with someone having to carry one because someone they are either dating or hang out with, is stupid enough to start something they can't finish on their own.
While it's admirable that your girl wants to stick up for her rights, getting a thrill of the danger that she could be potentially putting you both in, is just plain wrong.
The next time she pulls a stunt like that, throw up your hands...take a step back and say, "She said that..not me. I want no part of that!"
I'm certain she'll be mad as heck for a while, but I bet she doesn't ever pull that stunt again.

Big deal she can move out of the way. as for a gun, never pack something you are not prepared to use.Would you really want to shoot someone because your girlfriend objects to people she thinks is being rude? You will be the one who goes to jail. Personally speaking, explain to her the danger of her actions on the streets and if she doesn't listen get yourself a new girlfriend. I would not date someone who acted that way.I think she is wrong and is endangering your life. Don't pack or buy a gun. Buy a plug for her mouth. Surely you don't agree with her, if so you are living dangeruosly. and think.

Tell him he's a coward and if he wants it he's going to have to take it from you like a "real" man...
I think you'll sheepishly hand over your wallet instead.

For example, if someone is on a cell phone right by us gabbing, she'll say "Do you mind?" WHY IS THAT!? What's peoples problem with others talking on a phone in a public place? The only difference between that and talking to the person standing next to them is that they can't eavesdrop on half the conversation. So basically she's upset she can't eavesdrop on some strangers conversation? lol
IMO she's the one being rude and I'd tell her as much if she interrupted my conversation with a "Do you mind?" however polite she is about it.
excuse me, YES I DO MIND. Would you feel better if I put them on speaker phone so you can here the whole conversation? What exactly is it thats bothering you anyway? the fact you can't hear who I'm talking to, or do you just find the fact I'm talking offensive?
or if we are at the theater and some gang bangers are drinking and talking nearby she will say something to them about it, or if some huge parolee type who has a pit bull that gets near her with it's wet and muddy body she will tell the guy to get his dog "out of here!".
IMO she's a dumbass with no street smarts and your bordering on being one to for considering packing as a solution to this particular problem.
I'm all for legal concealed carry but if you feel you need to carry solely because your girlfriend has a big mouth, hey it's time to get a new girlfriend!
Instead of buying a gun try buying her a clue...

Posted: 7/9/2006 8:11:08 PM | would a that mugger still try to steal your wallet without a gun, probably not - which then makes him a coward. Yes he may well go ahead and strong arm rob you. the few times I was mugged / robbed while growing up in philly there wasn't any need for them to pull a weapon. They could just kick my ass and leave me laying in the street with my teeth spilled out all over the place and groaning for an ambulance seeing as how they had me out numbered... or just physically out matched.
Me on the other hand, if I had been carrying a gun and used it to defend myself I would of been a coward for doing so? I guess the manly thing to do would be to hand over the wallet and ask him not to hurt me, or perhaps start a fight I don't have a chance in hell of winning?
Personally I don't think people who strong arm rob people "aren't cowards" so much as I think they're incredible dumbasses for taking the chance of getting shot or otherwise victimized by one of their intended victims.
I guess all those cops responding to a alarm and go into a dark store at 2am with guns drawn are cowards for doing so as well...?

If she is causing you to worry then you need to have a talk with her. Easier to stop it before it starts bottom line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Concealed means CONCEALED!"
There is no need to even tell her you have the firearm. If a situation comes up where you absolutely have to use it, then she'll be glad you had it. Otherwise, ignorance is bliss. If she's frisking you or you're grown close enough that you can trust her with the information, let her know.
