They dont like that the americans talk about sex in the forums the way they do or the americans eating habits or the americans dating habits or the american's ect, ect and so on. I have yet to see anywhere in the USA forums where any american has bashed a canadian for their lifestyle or their habits. I was reading a canadian thread here a couple weeks ago and some of them got a little graphic about their sex life and a lot of canadians started posting on the thread to stop and not lower their forums to the americans USA standards. So who hates who is the question ?????? | |

My answer is hell no, Canadians as well as Canada rocks. My suggestion would be add the ones your interested in to you favorites. They should get an email notice, and who knows it might start the chain of though 'If he added me to favorites, then why didn't he mail me?' then they may check their mail settings. My guess is 75% if not more, don't even know they have the country restriction, even though the boarder(and you) may reside within the distance for matches they specified. | |

Posted: 9/4/2006 11:30:34 AM | I think people make a big deal out of what's rally a question of simple pragmatism. Canadian and American culture are practically identical, at heart...I mean, you can point out as many superficial differences as you want, but at the core of things, the two countries have had a political and economic symbiosis for long enough that the whole open -mindedness aspect and other such arguments don't seem to hold as much weight in my opinion.
I live about 40 minutes from Windsor, and I absolutely love the place...but I still don't really pursue the women over there. It's just a major hassle to cross the border every time you go on a date. I guess I'd even be in a better position than most in this situation, since international business has taught me quite a few tricks to make communicating internationally a bit easier. My best friend, however, dated a Canadian woman for a prtty good while. The problem that he encountered was that he couldn't afford to call her. A few $400 phone bills and probably about 50 international calling cards later, he wound up pursuing the relationship online. Even though he was committed to visiting Canada as much as he could, and he was constantly being affctionate over e-mail and instant messenger, the relationship bcame really strained. In retrospect, his ex-girlfriend (who still keeps in touch pretty well) tells me that the relationship wound up being very corporeal whenever they could see each other in person.
So just speaking from a common sense perspective... Of course there are attractive and interesting people in Canada. But at the same time there are attractive and interesting people everywhere else, too. I rarely go to a bar, nightclub, or class lecture without finding somebody with some remote attribute that somehow piques my interest. Although it's rarely significant enough of an interest for me to pursue anything, I find myself in conversation with many interesting and attractive people without ever leaving my own campus. And all of this starts with a simple "Hi, I'm Brandon. I found this and that intersting about you". From there, even the last salient attraction can develop into something a lot more significant, although not necessarily in an amorous (or even amiable sometimes) sense. After that initial point of contact that sort of sets the pace of the relationship, that development is somewhat hegemonically influenced by the various contributions of everybody's environment who's involved. Whether or not our romantic ideals allow us to admit it, those little inconveniences constitute a very real influence on the way that these relationships take shape.

When you meet someone there is always the issue of relocating if it is going to work out. Relationship mean you do have to scrafice. Women should talk to all of the men in your country. | |

Posted: 9/10/2006 4:35:27 PM | i like canada and have seen a ton of people that i would like to get to know better but i agree with icewave on the crossing the border thing. alot of people on here are looking for some convenience as well and do not want a long distance relationship. i am from michigan but how many people would consider carrying on a relationship wher you were a couple hours apart. it does take a toll and with the immigration aspect you could have some trouble if it went further than a casual relationship. | |

I just figured with the border issues why even try.....I'm also out near Brighton and the thought of having to drive that distance with the gas prices the way they are???? Eh...forget it. I mean it's what 45 miles to the bridge/tunnel???
But....if I date someone in say Allen Park or Wyandotte, that would be the same thing in distance...so...I don't know.  | |
