hi there .. i got my tattoo for my 50th bday then a belly ring for 55 ! the thing i read about young gals and tattoos on their lower backs is .. that some drs are refusing to give them a epideral during labour for fear of the ink from the tattoo entering the fluid in the spinal colum which could be a huge risk to mom,. makes sense to me so just something to think about . id hate for someone in labour cursing their tattooist .. save that for hubby lol !

Hey:

Just a little medical advice. I work for a Doctor and he recently told me that women of child-bearing years should be very careful on the placement of tattoos on their lower back. The reason being that during childbirth if an epidural is chosen and the tattoo is in that area, when they inject the epidural the dye/chemicals from the tattoo can enter the spinal column? This is definitely something I never thought about but luckily I got mine after having children. So, if you plan on having children you may want to consider the placement of the tattoo more off to the side on your lower back and not across your spine!

Good Luck and I got my tattoo on my 36th BD and I've never regreted it!

@mtb girl - I heard the same thing hon....it amazes me that they come up with this info without having any documented cases eh? I spoke with the tattoo artist in June when I was getting my 4th one done (I also have a good sized one across my lower back) and HE says its more precautionary than anything but isnt sure why NOW. Years ago, tattoo ink used to carry traces or mercury in it and THAT was a health issue. So. Besides, I already gave birth to an incredible kid and didnt have an epidural!!! lol Au natural, baby!

what kind they have

I have one - an aztech sun dial in b&w centered on my lower back
Just figured out where #2 is going which will be a great design of my astrological sign incorporating many things about me and who I am. It's going on my left side hip... and for the obvious reason.. I can hide it when need be...

which part of the body they find most appealing

I love sleeves on men... or the back... there is something extremely sexy laying next to your man and getting lost in the story his tattoos tell...

Most of my tats are of Asian design but I do have a pirate tattoo as well as a Canadian flag tattoo and I will be getting plenty more.
All of mine have some sort of meaning behind them which I think is better then walking into some shop and seeing something and getting it because its cool or looks good, its better I think to have something thats going to have some meaning on your body if its going to be forever.
To each his own.

I think a tattoo is something you should think long and hard about getting before you get it forsure...I have 3 lvy with flowers around my right wrist, butterfly on the inside of my left wrist and a little lady bug (about the size of a dime) on my neck below my ear...I still like them all and I got my frist one 14 years ago (I was young...lol)
So Go for it, if you totally love the one you are going to get, or it means alot to you!!

Ive been trying to figure out whats going on my back but for my knee caps it will be flaming skulls (Ghost Rider),my neck one side will be angels with pink wings in remeberence of the women that made a inpact in my life that have passed on and the other side will have blue wings for the men.
A koi fish on my left calf,a Budha on my right and I think stars of different colors on my left rib cage and on my right a geisha girl.

If you are looking in Barrie...Kathy Body @ Life Itself is probably the best artist around...she's out of commission until Jan though (pregnant)..and you need to book an appointment about 6 months in advance...next would be Paul @ Hallmark...he did a couple for me...great freehand work!

Cheers.

I was REALLY pleased with my newest tatoo (a cover up actually) done by Peter at 'Atomica' in Hamilton (James & Cannon) He did his apprenticeship at a very well known tattoo shop in Hamilton also (not sure if I should name it, message me if yer interested) and his prices were wicked and his work ROCKED! His shop is fairly new, its just him and a piercer but the place is clean, the people are great!

Thanks everyone. I will visit all the shops and get a good feel for all the artists and their styles. I currently have 6 tattoos and want to continue on with an oriental half sleeve that I plan on taking to a full sleeve.

In 2002, my daughter and I got matching butterfly tattoos. I had mine done over the spine of my lower back. To me, it represented emerging from a cocoon of a lot of awful things into something beautiful. A little while later, I got to thinking that I didn't want my life to be represented by a fragile butterfly, flitting around. So I got an eagle tatooed on my thigh, talons facing forward, so that when I take a step, it's as if it is taking prey. I'm very happy with that.

I have my tattoo picked out. I know where I want it. Now I just have to get up the guts to do it. I'm not afraid of the pain--I'm afraid of regretting it. It's FOREVER.

Maybe I'll get it when something momentous happens in my life.

Love tattoos, pure body art! Got one on my right shoulder and one on the bottom of my back. The one on the bottom of my back it the best, ya it hurt like hell but it is a design with my kids names in it, I designed it and what is better then having your kids with you always and forever!

LOVE A MAN WITH A TATTOO ON HIS FOREARM!!

I have 6, and plan to get more.

Don't worry about what anyone else will think. It's your body.

P.S. I'm a mom too, and they don't affect my parenting. ;)

I got a little gemini sigil on my right ankle for my 35th birthday.. to celebrate a milestone for 2 reasons - 1. my descent into decrepitude, and 2. freedom.

The tattoo itself is a sigil within a small castle type of circle with broken/distressed stone. It's quite cute and small. And because it is so small I can get away with having it even within a business environment, since it doesn't call attention to itself.

I have 5 tat's the most recent one on my calf about a month in a half ago, a Big Golden Dragon that took about 2-3 hrs. I love the way it came out... You talk about pain and yes there is alittle pain when the needle hits certin area's of the skin and you feel it in another part of your body, lol, sounds funny but its true,Last year I had a very bad migrain and I was with a friend that wanted a tat. anyway I wound up getting one also,I got a chinese year of the dragon symbol on the back of my neck and noticed after it was done my migrain was gone... Go fugure... LOL... Hope I helped...Bill...

I have 2 tattoos, 1 on each arm, plan to get another one on my calf and one on my back well between my shoulders like a banner, but that prolly wont be for another month or so
and my first tatoo didnt hurt it was the second one that hurt, especially when the guy got under the arm in the soft tissue
but it was well worth it
and when u get a tattoo, get something that means sumthing to u and reflects u
dont go out and get some generic tattoo that everyone else has, be original and unique
well thats my two cents
