He loves the outdoors too.
if he loves the outdoors so much then surely he wouldn't live in a tent ??

| camping!! Posted: 3/16/2007 12:23:01 PM | | the whole point about camping is that you dont take the luxuries you girlie | |
|
| camping!! Posted: 3/16/2007 1:30:26 PM | | These days camping can be luxurious with modern camping equipment. Modern tents are easier to put up than ever, lightweight and roomy. A five man dome tent will give you plenty of room for three to four people at a great room to weight ratio. (Always get a tent at least one berth bigger than you need though for comfort) Modern camping mattresses such as thermarests and other self inflating mattresses are far more comfortable than old style foam mats and unlike air beds provide insulation from the ground. Duvets can be used in place of sleeping bags if you are not carrying everything in a back pack. | |

Be nice to catch up with old friends like Pink Willow Chrissey (don't forget your hairdryer hun lol) Chorlton etc. etc. & I've no doubt some new faces too. If it's 1/2 as good as last years it'll be fab, can someone please make sure the M6 is clear on my way home this year, 4 hours sitting still wasn't much fun last time round!

Well now we are going to keep you all in suspense because the full details won't be posted until sometime in june so you'll just have to pencil in 14th - 16th September.
Is that a pretty arbitrary date? If so the weekends either side are easier for me :)

| camping!! Posted: 3/17/2007 8:38:57 AM | The lake district camping weekend is going to be Friday the 14th of September until Sunday the 16th of September. 2 nights..
Although we though it to early to put it up as an official meet thread just yet..It will be posted around the end of June., start of July..
|
| camping!! Posted: 3/17/2007 9:34:11 AM | | It doesn't matter how many dates we look at someone will always say they can't make it so that is the date we have decided on and we are sticking with it. I can't wait to post the details now it should be another great weekend with 2 pubs close by and the campsite is group friendly. | |

| camping!! Posted: 3/18/2007 6:19:32 AM | Camping i find is the best holiday you can have, whether its in the UK or abroad, been doing it for years. My girls love it as well, and thats saying something as my eldest is scared of spiders big time...
And to answer the question above as mossie is a mosquito, little guy that comes around and bites you...:)

| camping!! Posted: 3/18/2007 6:33:12 AM | | Anyone fancy taking up the challenge to get another camping meet sorted further south in June? A meet was previously discussed for the 22nd - 24th June in Snowdonia but I have had very little response from people who know the area. It seems such a long time until our meet in september and there is plenty of interest judging from the posts on this thread to justify more meets that get away from the pub theme. | |

|
| camping!! Posted: 3/18/2007 6:58:58 AM | I'm definitely up for this! I've just got back from buying a new tent this morning
Just a thought but if your looking for new sites take a look at ukcampsite.co.uk it has hundreds of sites listed and they have reviews wrote by campers! I have found many an excellent site through there.

| camping!! Posted: 3/18/2007 1:33:00 PM | | As well as camping in tents try sleeping outside in a bivvy bag or under a tarp. There is nothing like sleeping actually in the wilderness itself. A tarp tied by string to the trees gives a greater sense of being outdoors than an enclosed tent. Then put a mat on the ground and your sleeping bag on top. Campfire ash sprinkled around the sleeping bag keeps most bugs away. | |
|
| camping!! Posted: 3/18/2007 3:01:46 PM | | Yeah I'm not going camping in a bivvy bag again last time I realised I had fallen asleep with my bare arm outside the bag and a swarm of mozzies had nearly devoured it during the night. | |

| camping!! Posted: 5/20/2007 11:43:54 AM | cant believe this thread has been dug up lol think it was the only one i ever did that didnt get deleted see you all in september if not before if its anything like last year...bring it on | |
|
| camping!! Posted: 5/20/2007 12:15:38 PM | ive never been camping but i'd love to.. im sure my kids would love it, but i have one problem and its the ONLY thing thats stopped me taking them.
my nipper is machine fed overnight and the back-up battrey only lasts 16hrs, now if i had a power pack that i could plug it into the car to re-juice it back up that'd be ideal
i may look into somethign liek that n take them away somewhen.. ok a silly question, if you camped at say new forest if you went for a wander or a drive out to get food supplies etc would you have to take the tent down and re-build it when you got back or do you leave it??
maybe i'll look into a proper camping site, prices etc.. of course i'd have to buy a tent first

It's ok you didn't miss it because it never happened and so far there has only been one much talked about camping meet. Look out next month for details of the next meet in the Lake District due to take place in september.
