| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/16/2005 11:25:58 AM | | Yes, Nikki McGibbon... the self proclaimed punk rocker with the red stripe through her hair. She made it to 3rd place, from what I recall. (Tamyra Gray got booted off before her and she was MUCH better vocally and range wise). But she was female. Maybe the male rockers will fare better. But, at this point... Constantine has the edge (and a movie in his name!) | |

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/19/2005 8:52:59 PM | heck I am unhappy with Constantines choice of songs...I was stunned ....holding my head wondering why did he just do that...he did sing it well but it was just not a good song choice...Scott...very good song choice...if people voted with their ears instead of their eyes tonight they will not put him in danger this week...Bo...he outdid himself....smart choice of songs....am tired of hearing he cheated that was not a dance song in the 70s....oh yes it was...my sister will tell you she danced to this loads of times....they didnt say disco...they said dance music from the 70s...big difference....I wonder did Constantine understand the difference...well as you can see I voted for all 3 of these men tonight..and am guilty myself of giving Constantine alot more votes just to try to help push him thru to a better week....ok so my *ears* are saying...as much as I hate to do this because I love Earth Wind and Fire music....I am thinking perhaps Anwar is gone this week....just my opinion...
agstang....nice pic ^^^^

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/20/2005 4:08:32 PM | Ya know, it’s nice to see that someone has talked some sense into Ryan Seacrest. Either that, or they fired his stylist and he now has to dress himself. He looked hip and stylish today, with a white button down shirt and black jacket. No more shirts with scribbles. It would have been great if I could call in and vote for his wardrobe. He would have been gone day one.
CONSTANTINE – We start out with Constantine out in the audience selling Popsicles and Nutty Buddy’s among the aisles. Oh, ok… the white jacket threw me off. But, you have to admit, he does look like something out of a Love Boat episode. All ya need is Captain Stuebing and Gopher doing the background dancing, and Charo doing harmonies.
Constantine did well, for a man who wears mascara. He has a very comfortable stage presence and the Bee Gees insn’t a stretch for him. I just wish he wouldn’t look so grubby. He looks like one of the extras from Lost (one of my favorite shows. Shameless plug!). Constantine finishes, the judges like him and his family (complete with Cyndi Lauper impersonator) also approve.
CARRIE UNDERWOOD – Sooo hot. Want to touch the hynie! Carrie tells us that she wasn’t into the 70s music (maybe because she wasn’t even a gleam in her lil daddy’s eye during that era) and there weren’t many dancing venues in Chicote, Oklahoma. But that doesn’t stop her from baby stepping across the stage in her Little Mermaid outfit. Carrie wraps it up with a long high note as Paula praises her for one of the longest notes of any of the idols. Which only proves she was drunk during Kelly Clarkson’s and Fantasia’s performances. Nice job again, Carrie. Now… marry me.
SCOTT SAVOL – Everlasting Love. I like this song. Just didn’t like when Scott sang it. He didn’t seem into it, with some of the tone sounding tired. Maybe he had a little throat problem. Who knows, we just didn’t see the feisty Scott up there. He was even moderately dressed, and despite critical feedback from Simon, told him, “God Bless you, Simon. Thanks for your feedback.” Not like the cantankerous Scott we saw last week. Here before you stands a man defeated and probably ready to end the madness. Not yet, Scotty. But soon.
Hey look! It’s Alex Trabek! I’ll take “Shameless Cameo” for 500, Alex. See folks? Ya just never know who’s gonna show up on Idol! Watch every week!
ANTHONY FEDEROV – Man, is that how they dance in the Ukraine? I would so be a god among those folks! And Anthony said he took Latin dancing. I believe it, if he was referring to the Julius Caesar era. Anthony belts out his tune and Simon tell us it was “pleasant, safe and a little insipid.” Anthony excitedly blurts, “I’ll take it!” Obviously he didn’t hear me shouting, “No! Take what’s behind the curtain! Behind the curtain!” Safe is the keyword here. Lucky **stard!
ANWAR ROBINSON – I could do without a miniclip of Anwar dancing. The saddest part is, unlike the other contestants who were doing disco moves tongue-in-cheek, Anwar was actually SWEATING in his clip. Sweating! Like he was actually getting his groove on. Granted, maybe the A/C was off that day, but I doubt it. This guy has Camera Hog written all over him.
I’ll admit, after the first 30 seconds, I fast forwarded to the judges. I just can’t stomach this guy anymore. He’s gotta go. Paula tells him he is “in the moment.” Yes, Paula…but that moment passed 4 weeks ago! Look at me Anwar. No, me. Here in American Idol Voter land. That’s it. Tell me some useless anecdote and then lean back a loud guffaw as Ryan reads out your number. You’re great! No, YOU’RE great! No, no. Really. I insist. YOU’RE great….
BO BICE – I have always loved this song, Vehicle, if done properly. And Bo really did well. I didn’t think it was a standout performance. But he did it as well as the original. Nothing really special to it. I guess just pulling it off in itself was an accomplishment. But after a few lackluster weeks, Bo needed this one to keep him in the competition. He and Constantine came in equally well this week… -10pts to Constantine for the jacket.
AGSTANG GIVES THE BOOT TO: Anwar Robinson. I’m so done with this guy. Though, Scott came in close, Scott has quite a big fan base and we’ll probably see Anthony go before Scott. But Anwar…. Anwar… Anwar… it’s time to make this competition more lactose free and cut out the cheese! You, my camera loving friend, are outta here!
And the prophets proclaimed… “So he has written, so shall it be done.”

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/20/2005 7:46:21 PM | Anwar...Scott and Anthony
...they split them into groups..sending them each to one side..started with Vonzell ...then Anthony....then sent Constantine to Vonzells side...next sent Anwar to Anthonys side....leaving....Bo...Scott and Carrie...sent Carrie over to Vonzells side...Scott to Anthonys side..leaving Bo alone...Bo was then told he was safe...and told to step to the group he thought was the top group this week....being the class act that he is...he stood up...walked behind Anthonys group...and then walked a bit more and stopped right in the middle of both groups...not choosing sides....very very classy....I liked that....then he told Vonzells group to sit down they were safe...then told Scott and Anthony to cross over to the couch they were safe......good bye Anwar... God bless
I may have gotten the order a little mixed up...but thats how it went

AMERICA IS not paying attention.....
MY pick for the TOP THREE.... 1.Bo 2.Constantine 3.Carrie

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/21/2005 6:48:36 AM | Good Lord! How could I forget the woman who gets my spiderman underoos all tied up in a bunch? My baby Vonzell! I apologize. Not sure how I missed her! It really goes without saying that Vonzell has so lit up the stage in the last few weeks, that she has been the juggernaut to topple. She just has a natural rhythm to her and her song selections are on the money! I think this girl could sing with a cold, forget the words and fall off the stage and people would still love her.
I definitely think Vonzell and Carrie will be in the Top 3. The REAL question is... will it be Bo or Constantine in the 3rd spot? If you go back and check out my past post about patterns, we could see a Bo/Constantine vs. Vonzell combo with the male victor getting the spoils. That is the only pattern in the last 3 seasons that has yet to play out. But you can not discount Carrie. This girl has such a Kelly Clarkson quality to her that if America IS the true voters of who goes on, then Carrie has it covered. Come on... don't you think the record industry can convert Carrie to a sexier package the way they did Kelly? I think it would be an AWESOME concernt with Carrie opening up for Kelly. I'd pay for that. (I'm checking out Kelly in concert with my daughter on 4/28. Will let you know if she is worth the money).
But, in terms of Carrie, here lies her fate. America could either compare her to Kelly Clarkson and help her go all the way. OR, they could compare her to last season's Diana DeGarmo and consider her a little young and too immature to be the next idol, giving it to one of the other 2 instead. What sucks is that I don't see Bo or Constantine selling too many records. Nor do I see Vonzell doing the same. If Fantasia couldn't pull it off (and she had a great Macy Gray type voice), then Vonzell won't even come close. Heck, even a gay white man like Clay Aiken is trouncing Ruben Studdard's R&B effort in record sales. If Ruben and Fantasia couldn't win record buyers over, Vonzell doesn't stand a chance. You just aren't going to find the next Whitney Houston on American Idol.
So, if you are asking me who has the BEST chance of selling the MOST records? I'd give it to Carrie. She has the best crossover appeal for mainstream listeners. Vonzell's too R&B, and Bo/Constantine are too Rocker. If I want alternative, I'll listen to Puddle Of Mud, Nickleback or 3 Doors Down (which was an AWESOME concert!), not a solo rock artist.
I'm going against the pattern and putting my money on Carrie. I'm hoping good sense prevails.

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/21/2005 6:58:13 AM | *welcome home agstang - thought you left for good - since yah forgot vonzell *
i think its a males turn but the sad thing is that bo and constantine are rockers as you said not Pop stars, but they are favorites, so who knows, my bank is constantine because i just like him, and i do not like carrie's voice at all .... so if its not vonzell - i see one of the guys getting it...
if its the popular vote, then one of the guys will get it ...
|
| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/21/2005 7:13:11 AM | And that is what sucks.. the popular vote. The popular vote doesn't always mean the best person or most qualified. (Ask Al Gore). A couple of years ago, I used to post my reviews on another website and I predicted Clay Aiken would have won American Idol over Ruben Studdard, even though Ruben was my favorite early on. I wasn't a big Clay fan, but Ruben kinda petered out at the end and gave some half ass performances and effort (much like Scott Savol this season). I thought Clay was the most improved, in performance, stage presence and look. (Talk about a geek). I didn't think Ruben was the right choice, but he was the popular choice. But, as I mentioned, popular doesn't always mean right. Not only is Clay more successful (fastest selling single this era and his album went double platinum), he also has longevity (2nd to Kelly Clarkson). Not bad for a number 2 guy.
I see Bo and Constantine as going the way of Joshua Gracin. Even though country boy didn't take the idol prize (he struggled with different genres), he is still makin it big on the country charts. That's where he belongs and he has found his niche. Maybe Idol will do the same for Bo and Constantine, while Anwar goes back to teaching his music pupils that losing doesn't make you a loser, and Nadia goes back to asking, "Do you want fries with that?"
(putting on my Carrie Underwood T-Shirt, but still fantasizing about Vonzell)

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/21/2005 8:19:09 AM | sorry i am one to debate the stoddard against aikens, stoddard one because he was a favorite, and aikens lost because he sounded like he was always on tour with the rockets... and aikens was promoted more and promoted first compared to stoddard who happens to be doing very well...
yes i am a velvet teddy bear fan....
i forgot about the other guy in the contest who reminds me of aikens - he just might be the underdog and take it ....

| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/21/2005 2:13:56 PM | be very scared everyone but it looks like Scotts fan base is growing...and growing from what I am seeing on the forums over at the fox site for idol...ok everyone..take a brick..and take turns tossing them at my head because yes I do give him some votes....but my favs are Constantine and Bo ....I just like Scotts song choices and give him votes for it.
ouch...that brick hurt! lol
|
| I learned that show tunes SUCK! Posted: 4/21/2005 2:17:12 PM | i would not be surprised if he won
its a toss up no matter how you look at it and the popular vote is what is going to make and break this contest
*no bricks thrown today - its my off day*

| Fox Lawsuit Posted: 4/26/2005 9:23:52 AM | Oooh, Fox is planning to sue ABC if they go ahead with an American Idol expose. Some of the report details interviews with former contestants claiming Fox manipulates the outcome, and that Paula picked and chose the contestants she wanted to nurture (even dating one of them).
I KNEW IT! | |
