I want the whole thing, love, commitment and yes romance! If I can't have that then I will stay single...

I don't think people are "picky" per say, they just aren't getting excited about anyone for a number of reasons. For one thing, although we have the internet and so forth, people have become LESS connected on a personal level, pretty much across the board.

I know it's not a good thing, but I refuse to find a normal girl and have a normal relationship. That and normal couples are boring, and invite me to the dullest parties.
I think we should all be picky, and choose to seek for our preferences only, whatever they might be.

Talking to someone or going out on a few dates with someone who isn't exactly your ideal type is not settling. If there isn't any connection after some email / phone conversations or a few dates, then respectfully tell the other person that we aren't a match. Many people in successful relationships end up with someone who isn't exactly their ideal type. Maybe a person who is a little bit shorter, heavier, older etc than your ideal type can be a good match for you.

Are we picky... selective and instinctive, but not picky. Attraction is innate. At birth we are instinctively drawn to "pretty people" both in a physical and emotional sense. Throughout life we maintain this innate sense of attraction and build on it through our own experiences, lifestyle, and general personality traits; thereby narrowing our playing field.
With that said... just because 75% of the population finds John Doe attractive doesn't mean I will find him to be attractive.... And remember (on a lighter note).... our eyesight falters a little as we age... (thank goodness otherwise... I might be dateless!)

I don't know about "people" being "too picky", seeing as how something like 80% of the population is attached in one form or another. Lot's of these people, in my opinion, evidently weren't "picky" enough. But what do I really know?

...is that why that they stay single, even though they don't want that, either? Your thoughts... YES! People are waaaaay to picky these days.

| Are people these days 'too picky'... Posted: 6/26/2008 7:19:08 PM | | I know that I'm pickier now than I have been in the past, but that's due to the fact that I know myself better now than I did when I was younger. I'm clearer on what I want in life. Whether or not I'm too picky remains to be seen. I just know that I'd rather be single than be with the wrong person or be with a guy just for the sake of being attached. | |
