Can't eat plain carrots, even with butter s&p. I get the sensation of nails on a chaclk board, makes me shiver just thinking about it. I like them in stew, soup, currey etc... | |

All kinds of berrys and cherrys.
All kinds of Nuts.
Bananas they make my throat itch and swell.
Chocolate makes me deathly ill.
Milk dont want to be around me if I drink milk lol
Avocados I can only eat them if they are mashed with sour cream otherwise they make my lips itch and my throat itches and swells.

I would die of a broken heart if I suddenly became allergic to shellfish (esp. lobsta), chocolate, cheeseburgers, ribs and beer.
UGH Pecans Just the thought of them gives me the creepy crawlies because of how badly allergic I am to them!!!!! | |

Was deathly allergic to alcohol from 19 to 34 but not anymore, guess I grew out of it.....

Posted: 8/30/2006 7:33:12 PM | I discovered that I developed an allergy to bananas about 3 years ago-quite shocking to watch my mouth swell up.
cowgirlspurs....and others.....
Your allergy to bananas may be a cross reaction to natural rubber latex....have you ever used latex gloves in your job?? Do you react to latex condoms??
The reason I am mentioning this is because I too react to bananas, and as a result was further tested for rubber by my allergist. My main allergy is to Natural Rubber.
So to answer the question....I am allergic to bananas, kiwis, chestnuts, mangos, avocado and the list of cross reactive fruits and veggies grows as my sensitivity increases. | |

Also- any dairy products which dont come directly from a farm. Which makes me think Im not allergic to dairy, but rather the additives put in the dairy products. | |

Posted: 10/2/2006 9:55:34 PM | No allergies here, but my dad almost died a few weeks ago from his 2nd shellfish reaction. I'm only quoting this to maybe make anyone who might not take this stuff too seriously think twice. Mind you he's eaten shellfish ALOT over the years, he's in his mid 40's and this was only the 2nd time. ::::Long read, maybe it might make a difference somewhere, somehow::::::
"We made it to Walgreens within about 30 minutes of having dinner. My tongue was starting to swell and that's when I started to get worried. Pavia ran in there to get some benadryl and some water. I sat in the truck because I didn't want anyone to see me looking like that.
I was really starting to worry because I could feel my togue really swelling now and I think my throat was starting to swell as well. I said to myself "I hope she gets out here soon man"... I saw her running out of walgreens and when she got to the truck she handed me the open bottle of water and a pill, which I took. I immediately took another one.
Pavia then started to drive over to the walk in clinic on Vineland, which was two blocks away. I guess the smarter thing would have been to drive to the fire station across the street but we were a little panicky by then. While we were waiting to turn at the light, I started to get dizzy. After we turned and were heading down Vineland, I started to lose my eyesight.
When we pulled into the clinic parking lot Pavia said we're hear, I'm gonna drop you off at the door and park. That must have snapped me out of it because my eyesight came back enough to get out of the truck and check the doors. Of course the place was closed and the doors were locked.
As I was heading away from the front of the place and starting to walk towards Pavia, I could hear her getting really worried. I was losing it. You know when they say you see the bright light and your body functions let go when people pass away. Well, both of those things happened at once as I fell to the ground. Pavia said I looked like a rag doll when I was walking towards her.
I came to a couple of seconds later I guess and she helped me to the truck. I was on the passenger side and she went around to the other side of the truck. I was a mess. I knew what had happened and it was worrysome. Just then it happened again, everything faded, my eyesight went and all I saw was bright white and I went down to the ground. ."

Me, I'm allergic to everything ocean going, especially shellfish. I can't eat fish and just being around shellfish can make me break out in hives or worse, in one case.
Shellfish can make me die, but fish generally I'm not at risk about so long as I don't eat it. If I DO eat it, it makes me very violently ill. | |

Posted: 10/3/2006 5:54:20 PM | Mango, but only if I eat it a couple times a day, every day for a week... it's probably a reaction to the acid in it more than an allergy though..
I can't believe how many more people are allergic to things these days... the one I heard where some chick died because she smelled the breath of a guy who had a peanut butter sandwich for breakfast was crazy....
I can see an allergy from contact or ingestion/injection etc... but how do these people live more than a year if they are so allergic that breath from someone who ate something an hour or two previous causes a severe reaction??
what's next... someone farts and literally kills a person because they ate something the day before that they were allergic to??... | |

I saw an interesting article that discussed allergies and ethnic background. An example: countries relying on fish as main diet (scandinavians and Japanese) will have fish as a common allergy. Europeans would more commonly have glutem and dairy as it was a staple in the diet.
I cant figure out how the fruit allergy fits in though. | |

then there's ones that effect me if another allergen in introduced. For example, I can't eat apples if there is a cat or dog around. Or, no pears during ragweed season... those are tricky to put your finger on so I just stay away from them.
the worst of my allergies is mould - which means limited amounts of wine, beer and cheese!

Latex allergies are becoming as serious as allergies to peanuts... | |

Although admittedly, it's not an allergy because it doesn't create a histamine response, but it's an intolerance. (various unpleasant symptoms occur). I also react adversely to artificial sugars and msg. | |

Posted: 12/27/2007 6:24:29 PM | Found out about 2 years ago that I've developed an allergy to Kiwi. Used to eat the things like grapes when they're on sale, bake them into kiwi-apple pies, make smoothies with them, slice in halves and poach in a little wine for a kiwi compote. Last time I had any, I got a bag of about 20- had one sitting at the computer and by the third bite my tongue had swollen up and completely sealed off my mouth and the back of my throat was very quickly closing. Total upper respiratory shut down within a few minutes.
Yes, I am still here to tell the tale- saved by a trach (hole in the throat direct to trachea) and a supply of saline wash. Knowing it was an allergic reaction, and even though the upper resp was closed, still able to breath, no panic, just a bot of worry. Cleared the trach, washed the kiwi residue from the mouth and throat with saline and back to more-or-less normal before anyone even realized I should have been dead (yet again).
No more kiwis for me. And as long as the price stays up, it's easy to stay away from them. | |

Shrips & peanust make my lips swell up & i feel uncomftable (not a pretty sight)
Its a shame cos i really liked the shrimps & nuts

My brother has tons of allergies. He is allergic to nuts, so we make a pecan pie without the pecans, just use the 1/2 the amount of the nut measure of dry oatmeal--not instant--and it puts a crunchy topping on the pie. | |
