Not frightened of it at all. Flown through an electric storm...:excited ... on a plane I mean, not my broomstick

Get yourself some Bach Flower rescue remedy. Works a treat for anything that makes you anxious.

I have it in all the time...for when my mother drops in with the lastest reprimand

I've always wanted to make love outside during a thunder storm!

Me too.
I did once have a wank in a tent at Sunday school camp whilst it was raining a bit hard. So i imagine its not a too dissimilar feeling. Especially as it wasnt my tent,it was the Vicars Daughters, and i was beating away against the clock whilst she was off taking a shower, thus adding an element of Danger to the proceedings.

I had no idea it could travel through the plumming omg!
Safest place to be is in the car i think, coz of the rubber tyres.

I love going to llorrett de Mar in September, its still warm and sunny, but at nights, the thunder and lightning is Fantastic, huge forks of lightning like I've never seen before.
I'ts nothing to be scared of, it's exciting.

when you have such an irrational fear its easier said than done

There is no such thing as an irrational fear. To the individual it is very real and very frightening. We could all quote statistics about chances of in your case, for example, being struck by lightening. You being intelligent will know this already. All I would advise you do is to leave the kids alone playing with or doing something to take their minds off it. Fear is contageous so if they are together and away from you they wont pick up on it and will probably not pick up from you a fear of thunderstorms.

I agree with Notion on all the above points. The immense natural power and force of the thunder and lightening is really amazing and always stand at the window or outdoors to watch one!!

As for making love outside in a storm - now there's food for thought

http://www.isleofwightweather.co.uk/live_storm_data.htm- if you go here and sign up for free - you can get email alerts and see where the storms are - its not fool proof but interesting and may be of help for those who don't like the stuff - at the mo it is showing nothing much - but bare in mind its a radio system and thus some areas can be shielded by terrain .

other than that - my mum hides in the cupboard under the stairs - me i love storms - video camera out - we don't get many down here - but when we do thy are usually good uns .

mods : i am nothing to do with the site mentioned and offer it to help /interested fellow poffer's

regards

I am also petrified of thunder storms. When i was a kid my dad made me stand outside in one which made me worse.
I have got my eldest son scared of it with the way i react so when i had my youngest son i decided i would have to be brave as i didn't want him scared.
What i do now is to stand in the window and watch it, i do jump at times but i laugh at myself which makes the youngest son laugh. My heart will be racing, palms sweating and light-headed but i don't want my son to be frightened.

@37 and 38..
My youngest daughter is terrified of thunder storms, and even at 19 she comes up to my room and stops there till the storm has passed, however we have had 2 days now of cracking ones, result she chewed her acrylic nails off !!!!!!!!!!!
My only problem is that we loose electric, and the town also looses its power.. never been able to understand why on that point..

Well......... I HATE THUNDER AND LIGHTENING. Infact I hate it so much that my breathing goes to pot my heart races and i get all sweaty.
The other night it thundered in Bolton the first rumble sounded like I was being broken into. The second came with a flash and that was enough I legged it into the kids bedrooms and within 60 seconds they had invaded my bed and hid under my quilt.
The laugh of it is they are all teenagers

try stuffing a queen bee up each nostrill and pouring gales honey over your head,if it is raining chances are there wont be any bees around but it will certainly take your mind off the thunder etc

I love thunderstorms too, but it didnt go downt too well today when i was at a wedding and the hotel lost its power due to a thunderstorm and disrupted the days proceedings. we made the best of it and reorganised the meal - but the hotel refused to serve the food due to health and safety while the power was off, so we skipped straight to the speeches and went back to the meal later.

I love lightning.... I've been sitting on my balcony for 2 hours trying to catch some shots as it goes off!

How on earth do you catch shots of lightning? You must be very quick to do that? because you don't know when it will come.

My camera is no good for that sort of thing anyway, but I just wonder how people cathes these photos

In Bedford we've had a few rumbles and a few flashes of lightening. I love it! I'm hoping that it thunders through the night as I can't resist being hypnotised by the pretty lightening. I think as long as you're indoors when a storm is right above you it won't hurt you. Now I've said that I'll either get a comment posted proving me wrong or a lightening bolt will strike my bed tonight he he!

Well still up and cowering from the storm. I can't recall anything like it and I have to admit it scares me witless...........................

A fellow forumite has suggested some tracks to listen to and meditation, to help me get to sleep, but I don't have headphones. I am trying, but the thunder is soooooooo noisy and the lightning is coming in from both ends of my through lounge. The street looks like a stream is flowing down it. I need a hug

Ohhhhhh Noooo!!!

Can you please keep it there...

Yesterday we had ONE rumble and TWO flashes of lightening.. then thank god nothing more...

When emma first started this thread.. We both admitted that we was terrified to the point where we'd run n hide.. i remember Tactile Guy (mark) always reporting the weather for us so we'd know in advance whether we was about to have a huge storm...

My sister is in Manchester and she texted me at 10ish to say she has a huge storm there.. But as yet we haven't had much here... THANK GOD!!!!

Lol, all better now. The sun is out, but there are still some dark clouds hovering. Didn't get to sleep until 5am though.

I did, but the lightning was coming straight through the curtains.
