First I would like to say I will be 50 in September and I can still dance. If the music is good and I can feel it in my soul, I can still shimmy like I did when I was 20

Oh tsk . . .
Who said men over 40 don't dance?
They've obviously never been to the singles dances in White Rock or Cloverdale . . . I swear some of those fellas are in their 80s

Okay... that's ONE perspective but when it comes to hip hop, it sounds to me that you're talking more about RAP. Today's hip hop is pop with a funky beat. The funk music of today still includes music by Parliament Funkadelic, George Clinton etc. But seems to me that someone so 'finikiel' about music isnt' into dancing. Everyone has their leanings and I just love to dance.

When I was young I used to dance, but only when I heard a c-note....
Then I aged a little and only danced when I heard the g-string....
Now I am over forty and I only seem to be able to get up when I hear an f-in-harmony

Exactly!!!! The Dr. has the right answer!

If I like the song, I will ask a woman to dance.......... Good thing I like a lot of music.

Eh! I take exception!

I'm over 40 and I dance up a firestorm. Sometimes look insane, sometimes get groupies. Always have a great time.

Some of thouse old timers are the best dancers. It's the young guys who just stand around watch the girls dance and drink beer.

I am well over 40 years old and enjoy dancing!

My hosting POF dance events increases the probability of having women to dance with.

I look forward to meeting and dancing with some of you fishies later this month.

I know more over-40s who dance than under-40s. Dancing is really anxiety-provoking for many of us, particularly after high-school dance experiences... a lot like being picked last for sports but there's NO picking at all. Precious little dancing, either - just one room full of tacky decorations, stags and wallflowers, and dark areas nearby crammed with frantic gropers and humpers. And never the twain shall meet...

I have gone to many POF events here in Victoria and there has been dancing ....I at 40 was by far the youngest and let me just say there was a packed dance floor and NO ONE was shuffling...these guys gave anyone under 30 a run for their money .....

I never ever learned any real dances.
Before about my mid-30's when everyone seemed to just be freestyling I used to fake my way through it. Now I just feel like a phoney fool doing that so I don't much like to try unless it is for some special person or occasion. I go to quite a few Legion dance nights but mainly just to hear some live music, have a beer and visit some. More than half the people are over 40 and most of the men dance at least a few times and several look like they really know what they are doing, which in turn makes me feel like more of a clutz if I were to exhibit myself.
Quite a few women(not gay) seem to get along quite well at times dancing with each other if they don't have men for partners.
On that note, a year ago I went to Cheers Pub, where POF has dance meetups on a non-POF night to watch a blacked out football game. Not long after 9pm I noticed several women of all ages coming in and they all went to the bigger side of the pub where there is a dancing area. About 10pm the sound for the football game was turned off and loud music started playing. Seated where I was, I couldn't see what was going on until I got up to leave after the game. I counted them, 12 women all dancing in a group and what looked like no specific partner and no men within 30 feet. Even if they were a gay group/club, I guess women just like to dance more and make the effort.
In some Middle East countries where dancing is allowed, it is the custom for only the women to dance. The men lay around eating and drinking while they watch/evaluate the women and decide which womans gyrations they like the best. To me, that maybe doesn't sound like too bad of an idea.
Different strokes for different folks.

Quit dancing?????,,,,,Trying to think when I really started

Actually, I'm in Draxx's boat. I have a pair of knees that "used" to do an awful lot for me. Now,,,,not so much anymore. Every once in awhile while just walking around, doing whatever, you could easily end up seeing me quickly on my bum for no apparent reason because one of them decides to let go on me. I guess you "could" call it a dance of sorts thou. It actually pisses me off now, when the body reminds me of the stuff I used to do. Also pisses me off that the doc's advice of yesteryear is coming true. Damn Docs!!!!

Still love grabbing the small of a woman's back and bringing her into me for a long slooooooow one. And I also still love belting out the vocals,,,,it's a good tactic to chase critters away. Also embarass' the hell outta of anyone that knows me,,,,I sometimes like doing that too.

Today it is far more socially acceptable for women to dance with women without folks thinking they are gay. They like to dance and they are not going to let the shortage of willing men dance partners stop them from enjoying themselves

That said, not all women like to dance either. I've have met a few and I usually ask them about if they like to dance fairly early after meeting. Some are shy. I was surprised when one told me she liked to dance only when she was drunk.

Funny about the statement above, a group of female friends (mostly from POF) were at Gabby's last night to celebrate a certain fishie's birthday.
When "Save a horse, Ride a cowboy" was played, our two tables of women ran on to the dance floor And where were most of the men? Standing there on the sidelines watching.
Men, life is to be enjoyed, who gives a flying fvck what people think when you get on that dance floor. Just DO it!
Dance like no one is watching.......

There are very few people in my ballroom club who are under 40. And if you want to find men who dance at all ages, hunt up some Latin guys. In that culture, everybody goes to the parties and everybody dances - so little boys start dancing when they're just tykes and continue it right through (of course, this is a generalization). Because they started young, they often have great moves

That said, I go to monthly dances in town and there's always a little group of guys who stand in the corner all night holding their beers and never venture out onto the floor. No idea why they go to dances if they have no plan to dance!

^^
perhaps they are too chickenshyt to ask a girl to dance?
or
they are waiting for enough beers in them to not care how they look on the dance floor

we do? lol.
well, i have for the time being, but def my age not being a factor!

sometimes we're just shy. lol.
or sometimes when we ask a woman to dance she equates that to us making a move on her?

Probably because that "ride the cowboy" song is another one of those "feel good " womens' songs and one of the most retarded songs out there. Just my opinion thou,,,,a male opinion at that. Don't believe me,,,go ask. Unbelievabley,,,men will not dance to songs they think are stupid.
