| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/23/2006 6:18:40 PM | Hiya folks!
I wanted to send out my thanks to Kris, Ken, and the volunteers for organizing this crazy event! I had a blast. I was one of the gents that ended up dating ladies in the 40+ section, but I enjoyed each of my conversations, and found that three minutes really isn't enough time when you're having fun. ^.^
I wanted to give a quick shout out to my bud Craig, who helped make this a evening alot of fun! I'll give you a shout the next time I'm in Hamilton, so we can hook up for that motorcycle ride.
To all the ladies that I met (I'm such a bloody git when it comes to remembering names....Amazing at remembering faces, tho'), it truly was a pleasure to spend some time with each of you.
Lastly....Dancing! Dancing! Dancing! Lordy, I love dancing! I just can't believe the DJ didn't have any Tragically Hip (or a listing of the songs he did have).
To end it all, the ride home was great! Beautiful weather, and I only got a little bit wet when it tried to rain as I was approaching Napanee. I'll be there for the New Year's party for sure!

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/23/2006 6:29:57 PM | Kris,
What an extraordinary vision....what an awesome event...what an incredible accomplishment
You and all of your volunteers did and absolutely amazing job. Take a bow all of you.
Think of it...everyone....we set a record for the ....Guinness Book of World Records
...now that will be remembered by all of us for a very, very long time.
Take a bow everyone.....we all deserve it
On the dating side, I managed to speak with over 60 lovely women. I enjoyed our conversations, even if they were only for 3 minutes. I must say three minutes is way to short. I enjoyed my time very much and managed to check off a few names....
....now I just have to be patient and wait to see if any of you checked off mine as well....
Well, folks.....we can certainly all thank BIGFISH for a wonderful site this is....and kudo's to all of the hosts for all of the parties across the POF site for doing amazing jobs to help further this awesome POF forum for getting people out to meet if not their...."matches"...at least a truckload of new friends.
Again.....Kris and gang.....ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ! ! !

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/23/2006 10:12:43 PM | Hi, I just wanted to say thank-you to everyone that organized and took part in the speed dating / after party event last night. It was really great to have the chance to meet so many people face to face, have a laugh and some fun dancing.
It was an interesting event to be a part of.
I enjoyed myself a lot and I hope everyone else did too.
JUST AN IDEA TO CONSIDER
I imagine that there are some people who would have like to have speed dated with certain other people at the event, but didn't get the chance. So I think it would be a good idea to have a link to a page on the site that had a list of everyone that attended the event with their name, arrival number, POF name and a picture (or their profile). Also this would make it possible for people to get in connect with other people they did meet there.
I wish everyone happy fishing in their attempt to meet their special some one.
GOD BLESS | |

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/23/2006 10:57:16 PM | ^ thats a good idea, haha you were sitting one over from me and travelled in the other direction , I remember ya!
I was talking to two very cool guys from hamilton who were 24 and 29 I think and they were seated at the 50+ section , both were great about it and I'm sure they really charmed the people they talked to but I felt kinda bad for them! And there were definitely people 50+ in the 25-40 group, which I can also understand but it might have been a bit better to put someone closer to 50 in the 50 + group versus the 24 year old. I understand the logistics at an event that huge can be tricky , and everyone I met had a great spirit about them and the event in general!

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/23/2006 11:29:38 PM | LOL I started to wonder if Guinness would stay when people were getting up and leaving chairs open..whew we friggin made it..... I forgot Kudos to a couple special groups in my earlier post To everyone that stuck it out through the end......voices crackling, butt tired, ready to fall over..WTG And to those in the younger crowd who stuck it out with the older crowd just to make this succeed...we also owe you a GREAT BIG THANK YOU. You all showed a remarkable amount of respect and care for the event. COOL
As far as meeting people..i saw a lot of people walking up to each other at the after party who have said in these very forums about how shy they really are about 1st meets. So i think we all got more out of this then getting a name in Guinness. Some found matches, and I truly believe some lost much of their shyness which may help in their futures...Cool Admin of PoF...if it wasnt for you, this would not have been possible also. Nothing better than bragging about PoF to the people who used to look at you wierd LOL

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/24/2006 1:17:17 AM | Yeah I'm with ya on the "shy fries" losing those inhibitions and walking up to the people they dug there Wizard. Good observation...but that's the fun of this thing...talk to people you usually don't talk with...dance like no one's watching (or blow your whistle...) and speed date like you've never been rejected ;)...Nice...
I'm also with the nurse and 4U about that link of everyone who attended and talking to those whom you didn't date. There were three women in particular that I wanted to talk b4 the horn blew to end the dating but didn't get a chance too. I also think the suggested link would help us GUYS remember which girl was which b/c I don't know about you but I didn't see too many guys taking notes during the dating round...even though Kris suggested that we do. KRIS I also know that a link like this would probably take another few months to set up and would probably be a logistical nightmare.
Fun time fun time though...can't wait for the rest of those pix...esp the one that paparazzied me with
Ciao, vigilante Triple Seven ;)

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/24/2006 5:26:00 AM | @honesty1966 --> I was there from Kingston. Rode down on my Harley (was soaked on the way down, had a gorgeous ride back)
@For_You --> Starting up a link for all that attended is an amazing idea. There were a couple of ladies there that I would have liked to meet, but didn't get the chance to. Plus it'll give me a chance to properly thank the ones I did meet (yeah, I was one of those guys that should have been taking notes). ^.^

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/24/2006 6:16:02 AM | Okay,
I've gotten some sleep and feel MUCH BETTER NOW. Great event and a lot of fun I must say.
Firstly, thank you to all the wonderful ladies who I was able to talk with for the 3 minutes OR LESS that we were given. For those who don't remember me, I was the guy in the peach colored dress shirt, shaven head, very energetic, slightly off the wall and goofy. Doesn't ring a bell??? It's ok after speaking with 60 odd people, you tend to forget actual names and faces. I do wanna thank in particular Tammy who was the first person I spoke with when seated (for about 1 HOUR!!!). Thanks to u and your 2 wonderful friends for putting up with my shenanigans for the hour!!!
Thank you to the organizers of the event. I am sure the logistics of such a large undertaking were challenging but you guys managed to do a great job.
Thank you Leanne who was there to greet me as I was the SECOND person to get to the convention centre!!! Thank you Jim and Gabriel it was a pleasure meeting you gentlemen. Oh ya, I'M NOT A PILOT!!!!
Thank you waterlily wat ... lilypad ... wildwaterkin .... GRRRRRRRRRRR Thank you Angie for humoring me throughout the latter part of the evening and dancing with me. You Disco queen you!!!
Finally, thank you to Hot and Sassy (Who was basically the third person to show up at the Convention Centre) for spending about 5 hours with me before and after the event. Wonderful conversations, lot's of laughs, and FINGERS for EVERYONE!!! We will definately talk very soon.
Now, let's just hope 1 or 2 of the female fishies i spoke with were intruiged enough to say 'yes' I wanna talk with him again. Cross yer fingers for me folks, i'm gonna need all the luck I can get!!!

Thank you Ken for replacing my dead fishy....2x.....lol
I must say I met a lot of nice people and actually checked yes beside their names.....not telling! lol

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/24/2006 8:03:46 AM | | Just had a wonderful time.I so needed to hit the washroom around 6:10 but just didn't want to stop speed dating. So when Chris announced we were done speed dating I had mixed emotions.I was a first time speed dater and it was a great way to get to meet such an array of interesting people.I checked off a lot of yes boxes. One woman suggested that I was going to give people false hope.Should I now feel guilty because I couldn't write them off after a 3 minute chat.I think not!I appreciate all the work put into this event and I was expecting to have to wait longer than I did to get into the hall.I only wish the microphones that were being used could have been switched up between Chris and Ken.The one mic seemed extremely piercing, and the other mic terribly muffled.I found the whole event reasonably priced.I did not expect a buffet to be included in the price of admission.I'm sure trying to offer a buffet for that many people would have been tough.Besides the buffet of women was insurmountable.A few of us went across the street to get a bite to eat and by the time we got back many of the women I was hoping to chat some more with, were gone.Damn,I hate being a slave to my stomach.I will be going out on a date because of this event,so thanks again. | |

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/24/2006 8:21:33 AM | I had a blast! I mean yes, by the 3rd hour my butt was numb, my brain was frazzled, my throat was killing me and my ears were ringing from the noise but even that was a hilarious situation to find myself in. I think most situations are what you make of them and I would do it all over again.
At 34, I was in the 25-40 age range group. Although I understand what some are saying about huge speed dating age differences, for myself I previously have never dated anyone younger than myself and would normally not search outside 36-46. There were men outside of that age range that I never would have responded to on line that were great fun and had me in stitches.
I think it was an interesting occasion to reconsider that "on-line shopping checklist" those of us looking for long term have boxed ourself into.
I also noticed that people lost their shyness about initiating contact, saying hello, asking someone to dance etc. I am not a shy person and even I would not normally initiate contact with a man I did not know. I think in this case everyone knew that everyone there was in the same boat. We were all single and looking to date or why would we have been there? It was like a huge green light went on at the start of the party: k, ready, set, everybody hit on everybody else, GO! It was a hoot. I also have to make note, that despite the purpose of being there and all the drinking going on, the gentlemen in attendance deserve honorable mention for being true gentlemen. Even late into the night and the cups, no one was crass or disrespectful to me.
As far as having a link to those that attended, many are on the main page of the original forum. Kris has enough on her plate still I would imagine. Maybe a link could be set up from this thread and all of us that wished to add our profile/picture/contact info to it could do so?
Wonderful to meet all of you new friends, male and female, I look forward to hearing from you.
Thank you to Dave and Dianne for sharing their hotel room with me like old friends and to Perry for making sure I got there safely after the party.
A huge thank you to everyone that had a hand in making this event happen!
Stay safe. | |

Do you have any idea how much it would cost to rent that facility?? I'm pretty sure it would be more than a couple hundred bucks....Did you see how many pieces of paper were there? Do you think they got all that printing/photocopying done for free? Did you notice there was a D.J.? I'll bet you think he was free too!!! And if you think you could have arranged all those people as first come first serve and according to age as well....I'd love to see you try!!!! Kris and her volunteers put a ton of work into this and they do not deserve to be trashed by someone who obviously has no clue what they are talking about!!!
There you go....I am Canadian and I spoke my opinion!!!! How do ya like me now?????

| I SURVIVED THE POF GUINNESS WORLD RECORD BASH !!!!! Posted: 7/24/2006 9:53:02 AM | A great big THANKYOU to all the people who made this spectacular event such a great success! It's understandable with the increddible amount of people that we were not placed into the age groups that we would have liked. I seemed to see all the 20 somethings and over 50's. Even though I would not have spoken with these age groups on my own, they were lots of fun to talk to. Sooooo sad to say, I didn't get to see many of my own age group. I think that one of you had a great idea to be able to see all the speed daters in another site, so that I can contact some of the guys I would like to meet again, and some that I missed. Once again, thanks, I had a wonderful time meeting all of you! Congratulations to all of us who made it into the Guinness Book! | |

| easy way to make large cash throw a pof party! Posted: 7/24/2006 10:01:19 AM | Well as promised..here i go..Kris and the other organizers,,stand down here..you did a great job and this poster isnt worth it
I just knew someone would just have to come and **** about things because it didnt go as they wanted and now have formulated some petty bitter thoughts. Seems that the majority of people had a great time..many made matches that are worth a helluva lot more than 10 bucks..Im guessing even those that didnt make any matches figured it was worth a lot more then what they spent in total. I am sorry that there wasnt a red carpet laid out for you as you expected for 10...but thats how life goes..I will thank you for showing the rest of PoF your true colours. And as Jeopardy mentioned....you better try your hand at the math again, but maybe instead of your little mind coming up with numbers...spend some time getting all the information and then make an intelligent assessment. I am guessing here, but I believe that the only thing the organizers of this event got was good PR for their prospective companies....well THEY DESERVE IT and I hope that due to this their businesses flourish.... To this Canadian and many more...10 dollars was pocket change in comparison to what we got out of it

| easy way to make large cash throw a pof party! Posted: 7/24/2006 10:05:41 AM | J.J. and Wizard- Thank you for your responce!
Loveme24u - Your phone calls must have been as well thought out as your original comment cause had you made the right ones you wouldn't have made the comment. Once you take the expenses and add them up (right down to the rubber stamp that stamped your hand coming in) it all costs money! That facility is a huge expense and I challange you to call them and ask the rental prices. Make sure you add in to that the cost of the microphones, chairs, tables, set-up and take-down fee's to flip the room half way through the event for each employee they provided and there is more to add to that list of extra's on top of the rental price you get quoted. All the extra's that were there! Did you see the DJ and sound system that we had to rent to do a 30,000 sqft building? I'm sorry you feel that even though Kris and I spent over 4 months on this in time, supplies from our companies, employee's that help and know they are not getting paid for it (did it for all of you and the event) and major expenses to us that we will never get back (yes we lost money and this event cost Kris, Big Fish and myself money!!!). I here by challange you to duplicate our party, charge $10 and make a cent! I will be looking forward to seeing the post were your going to try. Ken
