I am talking about whether it will be a dinner dance or just a dance - because most New years parties start with dinner - either buffets or sit down - the convention centre serves wonderful sit down dinners and hosts great dances after. The cost will be a factor and how the payment will be made to the convention centre.
If it's just a dance then people have to make other plans for dinner.
It's a big night for some people and plans are made months ahead! | |

I know you have so much to do already but the darn psychology major in me is curious and thought I should ask. I'm not sure if you have the computer system to give you the following information.
For instance:
On average how many matches were there per person?
Did women on average tend to choose more men then women or vice a versa?
Was there a difference in the ages? Are older people more particular?

I'm not trying to nag or anything but originally the results were supposed to be resolved within 3 days ... it has been 9 and still nothing?!!? If help is needed to calculate the results, I'm sure plenty of people would volunteer.
IMHO this whole speed date was strictly catered for Guiness and very little attention paid to the participants.

Posted: 7/31/2006 11:10:44 AM | The whole reason we were there was to make a Guinness record so OBVIOUSLY it was catered to their wants They are in control when they set rules they need to be followed
Seems the only ones complaining are those who had trouble following the rules :)
On the matches note : I have been typing with my staff since 9 am the matches out :
They are then going to be posted here on POF for you to be able to see pictures and click .. This much typing takes time .. takes energy and every single page has to be accounted for .. every single page has to be gone over and the guinness rules we as organizers were given mandate us to mark each page and number them and 15 other things that none of you have to worry about . Expect it to take a few more days as believe it or not we have jobs and families that also require our time :)
Also -- i believe everyone who came into this with open minds came out with great memories . We gave out tons of prizes, danced the night away and for the most part at least 90 percent of you had a great time! Of course there were issues .. you put a thousand plus people in a room and tell me how well it goes :) no really try it .. ill look forward to your results :)
On that note thanks to all the amazing fishies who have patience and understanding for a job so huge .. it truly is humbling to know that there are so many great people involved in the pof community ..
On another note im hijacking my own thread and telling you all about the POf comedy event at Philthy Mcnasty's in burlington on August 19th .. Its the 1st Coemdy event for POF in Burlington so come on out and laugh and lord knows i will need it by then !! Ya'll know i know how to throw a party so come out and yessssssssssssssssssssss i again have tonssssssssss of prizes ..
ok now im excited !

Thank you so much for all you have done. I really hope you have had time to sit back and not have to think about Guinness at least for a little bit.
I'm a little concerned as someone else mentionned about posting the matches publicly. Does everyone really need to know who you hit it off with or who you did not hit it off with? Does everyone really need to know that particular person hit it off with 15 others?
I feel that is private information and not what people agreed to. I think if this is done according to our Guinness Number as opposed to our profiles that would at least be respecting people's identities. e.g., matches for 401 = 357 and 530 Then again most people probably don't remember their number. Anywho just a thought.
I really really commend you for putting together a wonderful event and just ask that you think about this issue of privacy.

Keep in mind literally hundreds of people have emailed us asking for this sort of page to be put up and we are going with the majority on this one :)
The hard part is that sending out this many emails again will take forever and frankly im going on 2 weeks vacation on thursday and dont want to have to worry about this when i get back .. it needs to be done and over with and doing it this way is the best way to do this is to post the way it is posted above ...
This way each individual can cross reference their pof name and arrival number with those they choose and click a link taking them directly to that persons profile for instant easy access to a way to contact them ( non pofers will have al ink to my profile to ask me for their info )
If i try to email all these out i also then will have to get all the contact info for you and that again will take more time
yes we knew this would be work -- no we didnt expect people to pick 30 people
Not that there is anything wrong with that it just severely set us back timewise
