k...Stupid question

You mentioned putting our real first names on here as well, when you post the list?

Just checking??

Also, does Guiness send out the certificates, does POF??. When all is said and done how do we get this??

Are you going to send them in the mail? Will Guiness send it?

If this information has been noted before, my apologies.......

but please....a little information goes a long way.

thanks.......p.s. I had a great time and every time I tell someone I made the Guiness book, they think it is the coolest thing.

Now if I meet Mr. Right........I will be thrilled.....

Can't wait for the results!!!! lol

"ARRIVAL NUMBER POF NAME OR CHOICES
REAL FIRST NAME "

ok i really hate to pester on this but you've include 'real first name'
i know you've said you are respecting people's privacy etc, but i am not comfortable at all with my first name being posted. is this something that is necessary? if it is, then i am assuming i will have to contact you personally and ask that you not post my info?
thanks.

real first name is only if you dont have a pof name

keep in mind there are 8 million people in this world with your first name as well and mine

so if it just says jennifer or sara than im sure your safe

The certificates and the info that comes with them will be sent to me once Guinness london confirms the attempt which as noted can take up to 3 months after arrival to their offices.. on average 4- 5 months after the event occurs ..

soooooo on that note as soon as i get info ill let you know

Im being pulled in 19 million directions right now as you can all appreciate im a young mother / running a municipal campaign / business owner / im BUSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY but trying very very hard to get you your matches ASAP !!! Please and thank you for bearing with us as we work our way through this ......

I am doing my best to get all this info to all of you as quickly as possible with the awesome help of Bigfish it will happen sooner rather than later

Im sure tonsssssssssss of you have hooked up by this point as ive already gotten at least 300 emails about people who are very happy to have met someone at this event

the entire reason we did this was to let people have a great time , make some history and create a legacy that no other site can imitate : MISSION ACCOMPLISHED !

If im inchoherant its cause ive been sitting in front of this computer for over 12 hours already.. typing out sooooooooooo many matches everything is fuzzy -- i think i need a drink or 15 ...

This post is mostly likely to get flammed or deleted.. but it really is not my intention to cause trouble.. just provide some advice..

Seem everyone survived.. but i still would like to say that after viewing the after forums.. I have a few comments... I did not attend.. but I have an opnion.... (and its only an opnion before you bite my head off) Kris asked for constructive feedback.. so i've done my best to outline this constructively... I've posted it here because i've discussed this with a few others who agree with me.. but are afraid of being insulted or blocked from the forum for posting these thoughts... so I'll post and hope for the best ;)

----

When hosting an event... there are no stupid questions... Yes.. its a lot of work.. yes you will be tired.. and yes people will ask you the same thing 20 times... but the host of an event KNOWS THIS.. and does it all anyway.. You don't....mislead your customers in anyway (and you were all CUSTOMERS of this event)... especially in regards to..

1) yell at them
2) tell them you are too busy to answer
3) tell them to "read the Forum or.. read the f'in manual"
4) telling them to "host there own event to see how they do" is NOT an appropriate response .. the organizers of this event have set a certain expection.. not the rest of us.. You took this responsibility on when you started planning the event.. dont point fingers now that your in it..
5) Imply this is going to be all about couples and speed dating.. to now that its over and people travelled far.. say its all about guiness and following the rules correctly.

This was basically a Speeddating business Venture.. Imagine any business doing the above? Yes this was volunteer and not for profit.. but that doesnt change the fact people coming are your customers...

If an event like this goes off again.. i would recommend more organization.. and better planning... Some ideas that could have made this much more appealing to me.. and probably many others..

1) a FAQ or frequent asked questions section... with all the common asked questions .. that can be updated if things change... no more.. "IM BUSY READ THE 200 page FORUM" Imagine if companies started saying this :| "Go read the manual that came with it"..
2) Creating a very very very basic webpage or software application that would allow you to completely automate the registration process that seemed to take weeks and months of time before the event.. If you dont know how.. im SURE one of the attendes could throw a quick auto program together that would export to a nice excell spreadsheet... This would allow more time to deal with your paying customers questions.. and probably follow guiness rules...
3) A similar program could be quickly created for the results... trying to do both registration and matches manually is ridiculus in this day and age of computers... and seems to be where much of the stress of the event came from..
4)A more professional attitude in general.. not a "too bad expect nothing" attitude.. getting slammed about asking some basic questions of this event is NOT professional in my opnion.. the people in this forum slashing everyone who expresses any opnion that was against the 'mainstream' should be ashamed.. We are all allowed to speak our mind living in north america.. NO ONE has rudely or flat out insulted anyone else.. just providing other thoughts and opinions.. and good for the people speaking up... other people probably feel the same way..!

I think Kris had her work cut out for her.. But knowing that and taking an event of this size on.. you get more help.. set up a large volunteer team.. and plan it out... You do Not.. make excuses.. point fingers and hope for the best...

All in all.. lots of hard work went into this.. It looks like most people who went into it with an open mind had a good time.. Especially at the afterparty.. So good job on pulling it off as you did..

Thats all.. and good luck with the couples who got together

I don't know about all the other people here, but I can wait one more day -- as long as we have a way of cross-referencing the arrival numbers with the POF handles or at least some way of contacting the person if they were just a "guest." When the "raw" list was put up yesterday before it was taken down, I was shocked at the number of "matches" I got. I would have been happy with just one, but ... wow. To those who I picked but didn't pick me -- or vice versa -- no hard feelings. To those who "matched" up with me ... well, we'll see what happens.

Dreamgeek -

Thank you for your opinions

All opinions are valid and are taken seriously - Thank you for expressing yours

We knew there were problems its not everyday we pull off an event of this type - some of the issues you raised we already knew about going into this before you even knew we were doing it .. others well -- not so valid but the way you delivered this time is much more appreciated -- again -- i dont agree with everything your saying but again -- entitled to your opinion ...

I am super happy to say that 90 percent of the feedback is positive and people had a great time with tonssssssssssssssssssss of matches !

Cross referenced and triple checked we are gonna make this happen today for you all

Thanks again for coming out !! And thanks for finally realizing that delivery of constructive critisism is everything !

Have a great day in the pond !

I just want to add my .02 since I was there....

yell at them

Yes, Kris did yell at us to be quiet during the set up of the speed dating...BUT I think that ALL of us being adults should have shut up without having to be told!! I couldn't believe how many people talked over her when she was trying to get the event going! Some near me so much that I could not hear what she was saying.

tell them to "read the Forum or.. read the f'in manual

Again, we are all adults....we should not need to be told to read the instructions!!! It was all their on the first page of the thread where you had to go (and apparently scroll right past) to sign up.

This was basically a Speeddating business Venture..

I have to disagree with you on that one....the $10.00 we paid barely covered their expenses. It was a pof party not a business venture....who knew in the beginning that it would grow sooooo huge???

set up a large volunteer team..

There were several mentions of them needing help but you can't make people volunteer if they don't want to. It's hardly Kris' fault that not very many people wanted to help her with this.

a FAQ or frequent asked questions section

I think that would be the first page of the original thread.

Creating a very very very basic webpage or software application that would allow you to completely automate the registration process

Me being the computer moron that I am would have no idea how to do such a thing....and apparently no one else did either. If they did they should have offered up the help.

This was a huge undertaking for Kris and I am sure she learned a lot from the experience. But I don't think it is possible to put together such a huge event without some things going wrong. And I don't think it is fair to come on here and criticize her when you were not even there. Yes you have a right to your opinion but I think Kris deserves a pat on the back for all the hard work she did do and not, even constructive, criticism for the things that went wrong.

Thanks JJ

Its refreshing to know people do truly see how much we put into this

Also -- BIGFISH the owner of this site is a computer genius and has a program for the matches but the registrations had to be done manually at Guinness request ...

And there are 15 plus things that have to be done to each page before we can tally anything or match anything and etc etc it was a huge organizational undertaking

Thanks to all who participated !

If you have matches they have been emailed to you courtesy of bigfish who may i reiterate is a computer genius and absolutely instrumental in making this event happen .. Soooo many thanks go out to him for his constant attention and follow up .. may this site remain the worlds largest free online dating site until eternity !!!

On that note :

Kees and i are off to New York .. vacation time baby !!! 5 months after we started this is finally over and we need the break !!! Will check back here in a week or so and see how ya'll are doing and see if there are any questions i can answer ... until then .. feel free to mssg me and ill get back at ya !!!

SEe yas all soon !!

Ta ta for now !!!!

Thanks for all your hard work, I appreciated it and my friends and I had a great time.

About the emails, so they aren't being posted here after all? Were they sent to our pof email or the one we supplied when we registered? Just curious because my friends aren't members so if they ask me, I wanted to be able to tell them...

Thanks again, enjoy your vacation,
