| What is your favorite movie Posted: 11/26/2006 10:34:06 AM | It is very hard to pick and some really good ones were named.
I think for me...
Say Anything - (one of the smartest teen romantic comedies ever)
Penny Serenade - (one of the last pre WWII era style romance movies where they start with the couple getting married, Imagine if the Notebook wasn't about getting together but about being together and started after the marriage)
Joe Versus the Volcano - (a vastly underrated movie that is superficially a light comedy and fundamentally tells a very important story about life)
Its a Wonderful Life - (OK, its been on so many times it is sort of worn thing, but the love scenes where Stewart is walking her home and he starts pacing in front of her house are just so amazingly well done. And, the whole premise was really a first in major pictures.)
Strawberry Blonde - (I really like how the process of dating is portrayed in that movie and how one doesn't always know what one wants - perhaps Jimmy Cagney's best)
Pay it Forward - great movie, but to me I think they should have made it clear that you must pay it forward because you can never pay it back. Once you are attempting to pay it back you aren't doing the same thing as the original person who saw you in need, and you can never truly accomplish your goal. I cry at the end of that one as much as The Notebook and the scene in Joy Luck Club where she drowns her baby boy.

Cruise owes me for all the times I woke up screaming, relieved I was only having a bad dream...until I realized I was still in basic training!! But man, the sound of the jets in that movie...if I was a guy I'd have a woody, lol. Damn him!! Damn him to helllllllll

| What is your favorite movie Posted: 2/18/2007 7:05:36 AM | Good discussion.. and it's hard for me to choose. My list is long and this is just the tip of the iceberg for me my favorites are always changing - but these are ones i can always go back, watch & enjoy :-)
Lord of the Rings (the three of them)
Dangerous Liaisons - One of the wittiest movies I have ever seen. Valmont and the Marquise are so well played.
Like Water for Chocolate - Magical realism... I love this genre and this movie and the eroticism, food etc... Just wonderful and magic
Chocolat - Ahh Johnny Depp as a gypsy? Oh i like the plot too....
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - two drag queens and a transexual driving around Australia. And a funky cheesy disco & 80s soundtrack. Some great lines & humour...
Heathers - Ohhh so dark and funny. One of my favorite 'teen' movies... "Dear Diary, my teen-angst bullshit now has a body count."
Fight Club
Snatch - The dog, the squeaky toy LOL....
Reality Bites - I just like this one. Fun 90s soundtrack
When Harry Met Sally - just classic
And Monty Python, Kevin Smith, David Lynch, Woody Allen, Christopher Guest & John Waters are all ones I generally enjoy.

Me, myself and Irene - has to be the supermarket scene that made it for me.
Snatch - "The fact that you have replica written down the side of your guns, and mine says desert eagle .50, should precipitate your balls into shrinking along with your presence"
Any of the Bourne, matrix or bond movies..

I'll list some obvious: - Forrest Gump - Schindler's List - 1st Matrix (although the 3rd was very interesting) - Shawshank Redemption (not bad for a Stephen King flick, huh?) - 1st Jurrasic Park (awesome soundtrack, too) - Good Will Hunting
Less obvious - Saw - On the Waterfront (classic "I coulda been somebody, I coulda been a contender!") - Grapes of Wrath (classic) - The Game - Who's Afraid of Virgina Wolf (classic) - A Streetcar Named Desire (classic) - The 10 Commandments - The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert - Fritz the Cat (he was robbed of on Oscar, imo) - The Godfather 1&3 - Total Recall - Quest for Fire - The Terminator
...nobody roast me, but there's a few Kevin Costner films that I ACTUALLY LIKE :O It's been a few years since I've seen it (I'm STILL trying to figure it out, but the movie and soundtrack to Hedwig and the Angry Inch is also pretty good).
