What the hell would you know at the age of 22? Let me tell you how it is young lady and to the rest of you that think the same way.
Those of us that have kids ARE tired from running around taking them everywhere and having to worry about dinner knowing those children don't want to eat that dinner and the stresses of everything else going on.
Just you wait until you have even one child and see whether you have the time or energy to keep those locks of yours perfect...............LOL. In case you're not aware of it - once you get pregnant your hair actually changes and is not the same quality as before.
Damn I love these freaking experts.....................

I guess one needs to define the definition of "long". From your photogtaph your's seems to be shoulder length. Sort of midway between "short" and "down your back" so you haven't cut it to the same length that a man does. What men, generally, don't care for is as you approach 60 you'll cut your hair shorter and shorter until it's the same length as ours. Business has had me visit the land down under (Australia) three times so far and the fashion trends seem to be similar to those of the USA.
By the way do Aussies have a nick name for those of us in the USA? Obviously something one can place on a forum. I was surprised that Sydney can be warm during the day and almost cold at night during July. I assume the ocean is the cause?

i prefer women with long hair, very few women look good with short hair. just my opinion
That's my opinion too. I have never seen ONE woman who looks better with her hair short instead of long. Some women may look OK with short hair, but I haven't seen any that look better. Women almost always look better with longer hair (shoulder length or longer).

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/17/2009 4:53:58 PM | I am not the biker type but I have long hair because I feel very feminine and kinda glamorous with it. And mostly because certain macho types especially, like it. It's a bit passed my shoulders. When I go for to work I like to look more professional and pull it back alot though.
I see women with beautiful hair cut it till it is short and plain...sometimes it doens't even bounce or swing a bit. At least we have choices though. Many say it is easier to care for..but all they have to do is not style it perhaps, and maybe put conditioner in it so it can be combed very easily.

They call us "yanks." And if you've been to Australia several times (or at least took a Geography class in grade school), you do realize that July is the middle of Winter in Australia, don't you? Pretty sure that's why it's cold at night. That whole "southern hemisphere" thing...
Oh, and kind of on topic... My current SO has very long hair down to just above her butt and I love it! She's going to grow it to below her butt then donate some to Locks-for-Love. How awesome is she?

You're also smart and were clearly paying attention at school...............lol.
We are the complete opposite to you in the seasons. So yes while you're experiencing the heat in summer we are suffering through winter............mind you nowhere near as cold as you guys get!!
Message 553 - I do understand what you mean as I see women at the shops with that really, really short hair and wonder why.
It also depends on the female in question. I saw a lady at the movies last week who had really short, trendy hair and she had a very pretty face. It really suited her.

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/18/2009 3:08:28 AM | i haven't had short hair for about 25 years...even then it wasn't very short...
long hair you can do so much with...different styles equal different moods. short hair is boring on me... i'll have my long hair to the day i die...its great fun.
the most popular nick name here for americans is "yank". make of that what you will...
if i wasn't a frequent visitor to the 'states i'd think that the comment made re., the water off sydney being cold in the evening was said in jest...
it wasn't all that long ago when most americans i met on my travels in the 'states didn't know where australia was... i was once told i "speak english good"...
it seems the education system has improved, especially geography tuition...although the greater awareness of other countries may be due more to the spread of the internet...

Frankly I have better things to do with my time. Maybe this is why I have so few dates here? Could it be that some men think I am less feminine looking because of my short hair? I had one guy tell me after I had contacted him here on POF that he could not date a women with hair shorter than his. To each his own.

Hair tend to thin as you get older and high maintenace to keep the greys out or to keep its natural shine. My hair is long but thinning and some greys coming through. If I start colouring thats it i will be like everyone else....lol

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/18/2009 7:49:52 AM | i had waist length hair until about 5 years ago. very easy to look after, wavy and fine but lots of it. wash in the morning, naturally dry by the time i got to work.
i cut it because I wanted to. it took me two weeks to persuade the hairdresser to do it and my ex was really against it.
once it had been done EVERYONE, including the hairdresser and the ex said how much they liked it and that it did suit me better.

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/18/2009 8:18:16 AM | I have long, straight, healthy, shiny dark hair. I've had every length, style, and color out there, but I prefer it long and straight. I find I get a lot more stares from guys now too since I've grown my hair out.
The thing about long hair is that it takes work to keep it healthy. A lot of girls abuse the crap out of their hair. They bleach the crap out of it, back comb it every day. Destroy it with blow dryers, curling irons, and straightening irons non-stop because they either don't use a heat protectant on their hair first, or they use a cheap one that can't withstand the heat. Then there's the crap they put in their bodies that leaves their hair dull. Binge drinking destroys your hair. Girls can't possibly have long hair unless it's healthy because it keeps breaking off.

As for neck pain, as most women use as another excuse.... the only reason your neck hurts is because it isn't strong enough to hold the weight of your hair... excercise works wonders..... but theres really nothing you can say to a woman who's too lazy to properly take care of long hair.... claim your life is crazy, your kids don't allow you time, whatever... all excuses... you're just too lazy to tend to something you're meant to take care of..... Wow .... judgemental much?
As you can see from my picture, I have longer hair than most... that picture was about 4 or 5 months ago, and it is longer now. I have had my hair long and short... and I prefer it long, because it is easier for me to take care of - on a bad hair day, all I have to do is pull it up into a ponytail or braid it. BUT... to get there - to get past that stage of "mid-length" is a royal pain.... and that is not laziness.... that is just reality for me. I have thinner hair that doesn't curl for beans and it requires tons of maintenance unless it is long.
As for "being lazy"... you aren't a mom - how dare you say that? End of discussion.
As for avoiding neck pain by "exercising your neck"... another funny one... you should tell that to my doctor. My daughter had her hair down to her waist, it was so thick , it was about 6 inches in circumference when pulled into a ponytail. She started getting almost weekly migraines, so she had to get it cut on doctor's orders.... the migraines disappeared. She donated the 22" ponytail to making wigs for cancer patients.... and is very glad she did it.... but I don't think she will ever grow her hair that long again. The headaches just weren't worth it.

I find myself on the opposite end of this. I had short hair most of my life until a year ago. I will never go back. It's just so much easier with it long. If I'm in a hurry ~ it's a knot or a pony. Hmm. I personally agree with you "verygreeneyez." Once I'd cut my hair just below the shoulders (donated the cut length to cancer), and it seemed to be less work when it was longer...at least long enough to put up in a pony tail. My hair has always been healthy, no matter my age, prior to having a child and after... perhaps hereditary? Not sure. Hmm. True it is that long hair can cause headaches, so each person's personal length of tolerance is key I suppose. As long as one is happy with how it looks on themselves, no matter the length, so be it. It's interesting what some define as "long hair" as well. To me, hair to or just below the shoulders isn't long, however a hairdresser charging for the cut WILL say it is and charge accordingly. That brings me to a grief I have. It costs women with LONG hair more to have only bangs and bottom edge of hair trimmed (5 min work at most), than it does for someone with short multiple length haircut to have trimmed ( 20 - 40 min work)! It's a tragedy! However, I shan't cut my hair to a short length anytime soon, if ever. I prefer it looking what I feel is a more "feminine" look. It's merely personal. The fact that most men seem to prefer long hair is a bonus.

It's really stunning on you. The person that turned you down because you have short hair must be defective, because you're one of the most attractive women I've seen on POF. I honestly can't wrap my head around men that keep putting so much emphasis on hair.

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/18/2009 8:57:35 PM | The reason hair is the main discussion is it is the question of this topic. A woman may have an attractive face but long hair "ADDS" to that beauty. ADDS is the important term here.
There are many things a woman can do to herself to help draw the attention of men. Hair length is "one" of them. It is not the one and only, but women are usually trying to get the cards stacked in their favor to draw a man's attention. Ladies you may dislike and get upset because we like long hair but that doesn't change how men view women. If you want convienience over "one more advantage" that's your choice.

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/18/2009 9:07:11 PM | The thing that men are picky about hair is the color more than the length. My natural hair is light but not as light as I have it now. I could walk into parties where I barely knew anybody and guys would look at me and start talking about how much they wanted a girl with "dark hair" or "the dark haired girl" or dark hair whatever And I see it online where men require dark hair Then I started seeing men use the white blonde as a litmus test instead of so much dark hair. Maybe because the famed Paris got popular dunno. So if your hair isn't one extreme color or the other, you aren't even a "woman" to them. It was easier for me to lighten my hair than darken it. It meant paying more money at a time when I had redone my budget:( but I decided it might be worth it if a small compromise on a litmus test is all that stood between me and guys. I still see the dark hair listed on here alot though. But the hair color made the biggest difference in anything I've ever done to my appearance as far as guys liking it. I saw men go for women with white hair even if she only had a sprig shorter than my fingers. But, I've gotten less mail on here this year since I lost my whole top layer of hair from..drum roll.. excessive color damage. And I haven't gained 50 pounds either. I just have less hair. | |

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/19/2009 6:46:26 AM | | David: Duh. I wasn't wondering why people were talking about it in here. I was saying I don't understand why it's an issue in the first place. Don't state that women having long hair "adds" to their beauty like it's a fact or something. It's just YOUR opinion. This isn't true at all. One good example is Halle Berry. Short hair adds to her beauty and she's obviously less attractive when it's too long. People who have such an extreme hang up about a minor physical feature obviously have a fetish for it. Nothing wrong with it, but it's not a truth it's an OPINION. | |

it's an OPINION.
That statement basically sums up most of what EVERYONE posts in all the forums, not just this thread. If you want to see actual facts rather than opinions, check out the science and philosophy forum. So I'm not sure why you keep reiterating that, as I'm sure all the posters already realize this. They're registering an opinion, just as you are. That you proclaim their statements as being "untrue" is also just your own opinion.
It's hardly a philosophical debate to proclaim that you like short hair, long hair, or something in between. If you want to make it less OPINION based and more fact-based, why not have a discussion on the role or hair in any animal species' natural selection. Or tackle it from a Freudian perspective, as a representation of the id's release from the suppression of the superego.
Sheesh...... | |

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/19/2009 8:54:55 AM | | Long hair is so much sexier and feminine. The longer it is, the more I like it. Give me a woman with very long silky soft hair and I'll take care of it for her, brush it, wash it, pay for her salon appointments. To me, it is what I love, why wouldn't I want to take care of it for her? It would be a pleasure to me. | |

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/19/2009 5:50:53 PM | | I look like a witch with my hair long ... even my hairdresser in Berlin said I looked like a witch and he chopped it off. Whenever I have tried to grow it it becomes thin and straggly and the minute I step out of the door it looks a mess. Hence my hair is short.... I am not short ~no pun intended~ of compliments as it is naturally curly and always styled and I know I suit it far better short than long. I certainly wouldn't attempt to grow it long for a man... if he fancies me enough to ask me out with it short why would he want to change me ? | |

| Very long hair on a woman is very femine and sexy, but few women have long hair Posted: 9/19/2009 6:09:48 PM | Very long hair on a woman is attractive because it takes emphasis away from their face. Its a sad fact of life that plain or ugly women should always have long hair to draw attention away from their faces. Short hair on ugly women just makes them look even worse, where as long hair can kind of hide stuff you don't want others to see.
Me ...I should probably have it right down to my ass, but I have had kids and im far, far too lazy to be bothering to do my hair when, I could just be watching Jerry Springer re-runs and eating cake.
