i am 52, my hair turned silver in my forties and everyone wanted me to cut it. i said why?
im not ashamed of the silver, or my age, and i have a 30 year old face, so why cut it?
i have my hair long a nd silver, use that silver highlighting shammpoo and it glistens in the sun,
it is very very sexy, and im the envy of my age group now.
im not wanting to be like everyone else, i have my own beauty, check out my pics.
ladies, be proud of your own true colors, don't be another bottle of dye.

(at that time, it was well below my butt).. she looked at me & said "r u sure?".. i said "if u don`t do it now.. i`ll change my mind & walk out".. she started 2 cut.. i had started 2 cry.. lol.. after i had that done.

Posted: 8/8/2006 3:06:33 PM | As you get older, longer hair doesnt usually look as attractive. Its also a fashion faux-pas ie that it makes you look older-- drags your face down a bit. Longer hair is more attractive, for the most part, on younger women.
Unless of course you're some amazing timeless beauty.
Thats my 2 cents worth-- I keep my hair shoulder length- but never as long as it used to be... -- MJS | |

What they might have lacked in having long hair they made up with some other alluring attractive assets. Long hair doesn't make the woman. | |

Just me,personally,but I always get compliments on my hair.
Although I may have it cut shorter someday,I'll never get it cut really short.

It has been to my a$$ for all but maybe six years of my whole life and that is three years of growing it after I was born, 1 year when it got fried by a bad dye job, one year when it was a bad cut from a friend and one year when my father told the dresser to cut it crooked till there was at least a foot off (I will never forgive him for that). Even then it was never shorter than to my waist. I keep my hair long cause I love it. I love everything I can do with it and find that it would be easier to take care of than short hair as I have seen friends struggle with bad hair days with their short hair. | |

Long hair is truly a crown of beauty on a woman for sure. However, it's no secret that as you get older long hair tends to 'drag' a woman's face down instead of giving her that perky look we all once have. Not that long hair will 'always' do this but for the most part ... it does. I myself do not have short hair nor truly long hair .. it's just past my shoulders. But here's the key when it comes to whether men like a shorter length hair or not ( my opinion on this).
If it's short but hair style moves... then it's considered feminine and still desireable.
If it's short but doesn't have any movement...well... it's too short. Think crop cut vs short hair and a bit of a bounce to it when a woman walks.
The more active a woman's lifestyle is the likely she will choose a hairstyle that is more manageable. And shorter hair is easier to manage. If you really want to understand it all... let your own hair grow out biker to past the shoulders. Me thinks you will get a much better picture of where a woman is coming from on that issue.

Also, today's world is very fast paced and there is so much to do in one day for everyone. For instance, I am a single mom with 2 kids and I have to get up, get the kids ready and fed, get myself ready and fed, get the kids to school, get to work, after work I must pick up the girls, get home and cook dinner, get the girls in the bath, make sure they have their homework done, clean house, do my own school work, and get the girls to bed at a decent time. It just does not leave much time for doing your hair. Some women find that it is just as beautiful and feminine to have short hair and be able to spray and brush without having to take the time to really fix long hair. Does this make sense? | |

I have very thick hair and when it is really long it is nothing but one big painful tangle. After dealing with that for a length of time you just say "Enough!" and want something simple...and less painful!! | |

Posted: 8/16/2006 9:26:06 AM | I LOVE MY LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HAIR!! .. the only people who have every suggested (even told!!) me to cut, colour or otherwise change my hair ~ are Women!!! If i was gay .. i would cut my hair.. to attract a Woman!!! however .. i LOVE men .. prefer men .. have never been attracted (in that way) to a woman .. so why would i want to be more attractive to my "peers" and less attractive to a Man? .. makes no sense to me.. i have also discovered that some women are quite "catty" .. competitive .. nasty!!! they tell other women lies to make them feel less than good about themselves .. and they .. ok wait .. NOT all women play those games .. but too many do!!! Its jealousy ~ Period.
I love my hair .. long, greying and still fairly thick .. sure its thinning .. SO WHAT?!! .. growing old "with grace" does not mean i have to stop being natural .. in fact it is accepting the greys and the thinning .. along with the wrinkles that say i have lived .. I am near 50 .. i already look and act younger .. and Vogue Magazine is not beating down my door for a photo shoot!!! .. I don't call anyone in the morning to tell me how to dress .. i'm not worried about any fashion statement or other media driven b.s. .. i am me .. Real, natural and unfettered by external judgements about anything so petty as my hair!!! and furthermore .. i like to pull it myself now and then .. makes me feel like i'm not alone!!! 
had a chick i knew once .. a year or 2 older than me .. she said "ya know... older women are much more attractive with shorter hair." .. i said "Yes YOU are!" and walked away ..
there are more important things than external looks .. those who prioritize the external .. temporary illusion .. well .. i usually don't befriend shallow people. it really isn't about looks .. it is about who we are.. you can Look like a runway model .. but if yer a biotche .. who cares how long your hair is?
