Posted: 5/3/2008 1:55:40 AM | ^^^^ It was in the early pages of the thread where it was pointed out that the author used a somewhat unconventional and not readily apparent version of the word b1tch, because it would up the sales as an eye-grabber, and because it's trendy and cool these days for (some) women to be b1tches -- especially if they label themselves that, and then the word can mean just about whatever they want, it's all good.
I always like to read the negative reviews (1 and 2 star) at amazon.com for a popular book like this (400+ reviews there in all) to get an idea of what it's about... does the author really advocate women faking orgasms? Unfreakinbelievable! And if it's true that "the main idea was that men want a woman who will be herself", then if she's a doormat to begin with, why should she change, because isn't being a doormat just being herself? Inspiration rather than coherent logic is usually the strong suit of self-help books like this. Oh well. [Another one: if a doormat is "a person who is the habitual object of abuse or humiliation by another" (dict.) don't plenty of women want to choose the bad boy who treats them that way, and actually prefer such men over those who would treat them 'better'? I.e., don't some woman just want to be doormats?]
Anyway, most who have visited the thread later haven't read it all and are thinking of the word in its more usual usage. As a result, thread drift has set in and we're not really talking about the book any more. | |

And since women being b1tches seems to be a popular topic of conversation the thread was bound to slip....I'm in a senior position in a company and industry dominated by males so I really am a b1tch. Apparently. To the older guys at least, younger guys don't seem to be bothered by working for a woman.

I have worked for men and women, as a younger guy I guess I dont care, but I know older guys found their women managers to be way harder to work for.. to the point of almost quiting cause they thought they were being singled out ... ( the company shall remain anonymous lol for this guy he would rather work for a man then a women anyday )
there is a lot of evidence to support this claim, I would honestly rather have a male manager myself.. but ofcourse there will always be exceptions to the trend.
would you rather get stopped by a women cop or a male cop ... I say male ... if your a male and I say male if your a women too they are kinder and easier going might even let you off with a warning for your inspection sticker or busted tail light the women will take you to the cleaners if she is on her 28 day duty cycle, I have never found a decent women enforcement officer as of yet ! again I am sure there are exceptions hell maybe someone reading this is an exception that works for law enforcement lol torture me but dont stick me in a room with a b1tch cause thats just cruel and unusual punishment

Was only referring to a lady cop w/ pms have had my run in ( same one) on my way home a few times over the last few years every time this b1tch stops me ( she recognizes me) and I am praying to god.. lol

They don’t seem to understand that survival and the ability to cope, assess the situation, alter our plan to accomplish our goal is built in to us.
The 90% of us men that are not wussies ..... simply will not put up with self proclaimed b!tch nor the attitude that often comes with that proclamation / thinking.

She said upfront she was controlling. I didn't know to what extent until more than a year later she sits in front of my parents' house and tells me she would leave me if I gave a kidney to my eldest sister who had been on dialysis for many years.
This from a woman who said family loyalty is the most important thing. What she really wanted was obedience to her authority.
A lot of times I think someone like this does not realize how they treat other people... or they just don't care because they are confrontational and expect to argue and fight with others.
I liked my ex because she had a sharp mind and was a dynamic person. She was a good strategist and planner.
But the subtle and not-so-subtle manipulations by her were infuriating. | |

Posted: 5/25/2008 5:19:56 PM | I agree, I read the book and, as you stated, its about woman controlling their destinies and their lives. Having self-respect. There is nothing wrong with that, its Healthy!!
If a man does love or is interested in a woman who is truly a B.i.t.c.h, then he must like to be controlled and devalued himself, he is the one with issues.
In this day and age, woman are more in control of their lives, we work, raise kids by ourselves, have financial responsibilites that have to be met, etc. Unless a man wants to step up to the plate and help us out, then he has no right to tell us we're too independent, or we work too much, or we don't have enough time to devote to him. That isn't fair. Its hard to have balance in all these areas, most of us are just trying to do the best we can. Some of us have to work two jobs, be involved in school activities, and do all the other stuff to keep the ball rolling. Then a man comes along who it might be nice to get to know. We do our best to find the time to get together, but I find alot of guys just don't get the facts. They think we are playing games with them if we aren't always available to talk on the phone or meet up after work, etc.
I take offense to that, I don't play games with anybody, and I try my best to be honest. Seems like when I'm honest, they don't believe me. Go figure. | |
