I got rid of the rim after posting a thread here, and I won't go back to the old look. Shaving takes a bit more time than just running the clippers over the "remainder".

Why fight it?

LS I believe they call that thing on the chin below the lip a "soul patch".
How anyone would call it that I dunno; more like "missed a patch"!
And I'm with you on this one, shave the scurf off!

OT: bald is ok with me, but you guys don't need to counterpoint it by growing a beard or a goatee just to prove you still have the capacity to grow hair up there! Actually a nice smooth head is kind of fun to touch....

40andwiser - good for you - I bet you feel better as there is not attention being drawn to "the rim" as you put it. I think a clean shaven head allows the ladies to look into a mans eyes and also his animation when talking. Can't speak for all women, but eyes and animation is a turn on for me. I also think that facial hair is a personal thing for a man and does add dimension and character if the man wears it wll. If every bald man was either clean shaven with no facial hair, or with the same type of facial hair, it would take the fun out of finding all the attractive differences between men.

A lovely young woman I knew actually claimed to like the salt and pepper in the beard. Again, I am as old as I am... I won't fight the grey.

40andwiser - salt and pepper facial hair - on some men it looks awesome and hot - on others - yuck! Just like salt and pepper hair on a man's head - I know some men that are absolutely delicious looking and others just look old. So, it all depends on the how well the man wears it and also the preferences of the women looking.

I think if your losing it it's better to shave it off than have it uneven.

Just out of curiosity....what is the difference between grey hair and "salt and pepper" hair? I take it that in colour they are pretty well the same only that salt and pepper is maybe grey "by choice" or intentionally putting some grey or white in ones hair? or is it a different colour or a mix? To me they look the same, thats why I am just asking.

I think it looks good on most people, it's not their hair amount, colour, or style , but it's the person that is what counts.

Salt... shake.... white stuff...

Pepper... shake.... black/grey stuff...

What a mess. Now who is going to clean this up? I need a....

Wait a minute. That was almost a chauvinistic comment
