| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 8/22/2006 11:31:57 PM | I do think they have some good radio songs they will be 'classic rock' in 20 yrs I think
saw a live dvd of them as of lately it was kinda boring live it all sounds like a garage band doing mildly different versions of the same song

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 12/28/2006 5:21:51 PM | | these guys used to be so full of energy. I love all there old stuff. The first 5 releases are great. I hate the sound they are doing now. It slow, lifeless, dribble. Boring at best | |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 12/28/2006 6:54:05 PM | | yeah, I found the last couple RHCP albums to be rather boring... there are a few songs here and there but for the most part I don't think they are nearly as good as they used to be | |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 12/29/2006 3:13:32 PM | | Yeah there one of those kick-ass timeless bands you never get tired of. I think they've been laying low for awhile but they'll probably come out with another CD. I'm wondering what happened with the whole funk rock genre in general. | |

Hell, there classic rock now! They've been playing since the 80's! I personally consider the Counting Crows classic rock, another timeless, awsome band.

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 1/1/2007 7:12:28 PM | | I have always loved the RHCP especially the old funky stuff. I think "One Hot Minute" was where things went all wrong. Dave Navvaro was a bad idea. I think things have slowly been improving since that album I really liked "By the Way" and I think the second album On "Stadium Arcadium" is pretty good, best stuff in a while. They will never be what they were though that was the 80's, I give them a lot of props for being able to re-invent them selves over and over! | |

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 5/22/2008 3:24:08 PM | The Chili Peppers died to me after One Hot Minute.
I still love the old stuff. But everything from Californication up to the present is pretty horrible.
Mother's Milk is classic, though.

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 5/22/2008 8:27:56 PM | I think every album they do seems to have three rewrites of "Under the Bridge" and they are basically lifeless and boring compared to their pre-Navarro days.
And why is that when artists/bands get off of drugs they turn into boring old farts? Never understood that one. (See Eric Clapton, Keith Richards, Iggy Pop and any number of others for proof.) New topic maybe?

Probably because they realize the rage/angst that fueled the early music would have to be directed at their successful selves.
Also hallucinations make a good muse until they try to kill you.

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 5/23/2008 7:57:20 PM | Fortunately, drugs open your mind and make you more creative. They also ruin your life and give you plenty of negative things to write about.
Unfortunately, they can also kill you.
If you make a living as a musician, drugs are like women; can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em.

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 5/24/2008 12:06:11 PM | | they became what their record label wanted them to be. appealing to a wider audience and selling out to sell more, is what happens to a lot bands today. record labels hand out these contracts that require a band cut so many albums within a certain number of years, which in turn makes for rushed music making. there are few bands that can put out one great album after another, the chili peppers being one of them, incubus and 311 being some others. just remember that, the front office people that run the record companys, generally know little, or nothing about music. | |

i fail to see how any of those artists became less talented with age.

I never said they became less talented. I said they became boring old farts after they got off drugs. Most of the music any of those 3 put out since 1974 (I'll say '80 for Keith and the Igmeister) has been coma inducing without drugs. Just my opinion, I'm sure some folks think they're at the top of their game.

| Red Hot Chili Peppers...What happened to them? Posted: 5/25/2008 1:16:48 AM | The chillies performed at the BRITS this year, but were below par, also they seem to have gone all religeous ..well not religeous but kinda like the beatles and other rock stars did in the late 60's, all weird, insisting on stupid requests in there dressing room, they are doing the meditating/chant rubbish too. Better stick to what there good at i think. | |
