I don't think I would want to date a women who's trying out for those body building competitions, but there is nothing wrong at all with being toned. | |

Physically bigger than I am? No
Stronger than I am? Maybe
Better at fixing cars than I am? In a heart beat.
All in all, I am not so sure. Would depend on in what ways I suppose. But if she is big enough to carry me across the threshold... Not so sure I could handle that. | |

I always wondered what it would be like to reach inside a kitchen cabinet without knocking all the dishes out as I swat at a glass with a long handled utinsel trying to pry a glass to the edge to gently knock it off ... hoping I can catch it mid air before it hits the floor.
And, I hate it that they make the ceiling fan pull cords so short. I know where the extensions are kept in all the hardward stores like the back of my hand.  | |

For a woman to be bigger and stronger than me, she would have to be 6+ ft tall and weigh 200+ lbs. Very few women meet these requirements. If she did, I probably wouldn't her find attractive. | |

Posted: 5/11/2007 10:07:37 AM | I find women with power wealth and privelege matched with beauty definitely intimidating but whether or not they are bigger, stronger than me etc doesn't seem to bother me..(laughs!)
And but my self I always feel intimidated by women smarter/better educated than me. Again, though...how well built they are has nothing to do with it! And they are usually the first ones to tell you that, too. : )
But sure hell yeah if a women better built more toned more muscled than me wants a date with
me, who am I to argue? :))

More seriously though, I think it comes down to knowing more about your own self and your own body type and being comfortable with it, but also what you personally find attractive in a prospective dating partner.
I also tend to think in some cases it's the other way around, i.e. well toned woman wont date anyone less than her, which is just yet another case of knowing your self.body type and what you find attractive.
So I don't think its necessarily about intimidation or feeling intimidated although in some cases it might be but sometimes its more just your personal comfort level...call it what you will.. | |

Posted: 5/11/2007 8:27:04 PM | I love this thread, cause I've always wondered this about guys, but never been brave enough to ask! I'm 5'11" and until about 7 years ago, I was a merchant marine. When you work on deck, you work pretty hard physically. I never was a body builder, but the Op just asked about women more muscular than "you", and I was pretty muscular. Especially my legs. Please don't read that as "beefy" or built like a football player, I was neither.
In my personal experience, men seemed pretty intimidated around me. I actually got pretty shy about it. I had a captain actually introduce me to a pilot coming aboard as "our female deck officer" (duh) and then he told him I could bench press 200 pounds, which was a lie, I don't think my upper body strength really ever matched a man's my size, but I was so embarassed!
Another thing, it always seemed to be TALL men who were uncomfortable around me. Anyone under 5'8" was pretty comfortable. I don't know, maybe I threatened their personal self image. I also noticed that alot of men between 5'10" and 5'11" just call themselves six feet, so I've actually had guys argue with me about my height! I've also had drunken strangers come up to me in a bar and try to start a fight with me! Like all testosterony, tom cat spraying on the furniture kind of agressive, and I'm thinking "okay, I just want to be at home watching Pride and Prejudice and knitting my sweater...pleasepleaseplease..." but I'm a pretty non threatening person ACTUALLY, so I always talked them out of it.
Anyway, alot of the guys responding to this thread are saying it wouldn't bother them to date a woman taller and more muscular, and I suspect that if I had been offering to give it out, I probably would have had plenty of "dates". But let me ask you this, if you met a woman, pretty, friendly, smart enough, but taller and more muscular than YOU, would you approach her? Because one thing I can say is NO ONE messed with me! | |

Posted: 5/11/2007 8:55:33 PM | I was at a party and there was a woman there that was very obviously into body building. She had quite the set of arms on her !
I had couple drinks and I had this idea of whether or not I could beat her in an arm wrestle....
I'm a fairly good armwrestler , reasonably strong ....but I'm not near a champ or anything .
So I challenged her ......
She wouldn't arm wrestle me ......later I was thinking it was probably a good thing she refused !
But , I have to say , I could handle getting beaten.
OT .....Of course ....I would date a body builder or muscular , but I prefer a toned body rather than a ripped with muscles type body .
It's only one aspect of a person. | |
