| Women and makeup Posted: 8/2/2006 10:32:49 AM | It funny though...A lot of the men on here say "I don't like women with a whole lot of make-up" Natural is better...blah blah..But these are the same men that would say that Angelina Jolie is soo hott...Do you think she looks like that when she wakes up in the morning?? No my friends....I hate to burst your bubble but she doesn't...And none of you have ever see her when she does wake up in the morning before she meets her make-up artist for like 3 hours to get rid of the blemish's and all of lifes reality's....
In saying that, I don't wear much if any myself...Once in a while when I am going out for a special occasion I will put on a small amount to enhance...The only perfumes I can wear are body shop because I am allergic to all others. Besides I prefer the smell of shea butter or cocoa butter in those creams, so instead of perfume I apply a little cream. Smells much nicer.

but drasticly different in the morning more than any other time of day.
Truth be told, you could probably say that about a lot of women - some of us look tired without it
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/2/2006 3:08:00 PM | i personally do not wear a lot of make up except for if im going somewhere real special and i may go a little more daring with it i dont think it looks good if it is caked on | |

At least I am not ashamed of my own body. You should take a long and good look in the mirror - just because you wear tons of deodorant and anti-perspirant doesn't mean you don't sweat and stink. Some of that sweat mixed up with perfume reeks even worse.
i don't wear perfume, but thanks for coming out.
personal hygiene is not dangerous. practicing good personal hygiene does not mean you are ashamed of your body. probably the opposite. der! seriously, you need to put that sh*t in your profile, it's unfair if you don't and you show up on a date smelling like wet goat.
of course i sweat. after practice my knee pads, wrist guards and elbow pads smell like hell. it's gross. so i shower and put on deodorant. not tons of it.....just a normal amount. then i don't smell anymore. it;s really very simple.
still, open your mind. practice good grooming. your friends and family will thank you for it.
now, on to toothpaste.....what's your take on that. i'm curious.
snow bear - ate. up. | |

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/2/2006 9:18:21 PM | | As a makeup artist, I will say two things. Makeup is about a) making a statement or b) bringing out your natural beauty- not camouflaging it. This being said for a day to day makeup routine. Telling someone that you dislike their makeup is a touchy subject, because its obviously something they take pride in. Or they're covering up for an insecurity! Don't come out and say it. No way! If you ever find yourself at a department store... take a walk over to MAC. They have trained artists who can do wonders! Voila! New look, beautiful woman! I do private lessons with personal shopping if anyone feels they're unsure of their all over look. I'm also fabulous in the fashion department =) | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/2/2006 9:22:12 PM | | I totally agree. I'm also a makeup artist..for me it's the way I show my creativity. I paint with all brushes....but makeup is my fav | |

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/2/2006 10:28:29 PM | Personally, I think a lot of makeup is never needed. If you put that much makeup on, who is going to want you when it is off? Will they even recognize you?
I alternate between eyeliner and no eyeliner. I look the same with both. Eyeliner just defines my eyes more, but au natural lets me know that my man is loving me for me :D

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/2/2006 11:43:20 PM | | This is one of those situations, where it's possible to get too much of a good thing. | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/3/2006 12:58:45 AM | | Makeup for me is a total mood thing... most of the time I go bare, if I'm feeling a bit sassy I'll throw on some eyes... when I go out I might end up looking like pic #2 on my profile with glitter, eyes, and major gloss... sometimes I'm feeling moody and I go with goth black eyes and black / blood red / or dark purple lips... and then there's the skank makeup I save for special occasions ;) | |

Oh, please!
I've never had to sit and ponder whether I'm loved for my face, or the sum total of all that makes me "me", and plenty have wanted me when the make up was "off".
This thread has been a very stunning eye opener.

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/3/2006 6:38:48 AM | As far as make up on woman goes...who cares? I am not putting it on and taking it off, its not my body ect... And you know what? I never notice it anyway! One thing for sure, when I am doing Theatre...I HATE PUTTING THAT SHEET ON! The minute the play is over I am taking it off NOW! I really don't know how people can stand it myself | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/3/2006 11:01:02 AM | I rarely wear any makeup at all. When I do it usually only lipstick. Maybe eyeliner. I've noticed that the people who cake on the mostt are usually teens & twentysomethings, or women over 50.
Perfumes: You don't need to bathe in it. A dab behinnd each ear is suffficient. Regular perfumes give me problems. They're suffocating... but olils are easier to handle, so when I wear any scent at all it's oil. Noww if only I could find unscented bodywash I'd be happy.
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/3/2006 12:13:26 PM | | Well, I wear makeup, but I certainly don't cake it on like I have seen some girls do. I would like to be some what natural. I only use eye liner, and some lip gloss... and mascara.. but thats all.... | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 9/14/2006 8:38:59 PM | All this said....yet Playboy, Hustler, Penthouse, etc. etc. etc. and absolutely every motion pictureand TV program have woman who wear more make up....in more places....thicker, heavier, pure coverage...tons of it...all to create the illusion. Fake hair, fake eye lashes, fake boobs & butts, fake fingernails, fake morals, If so many of you men don't like fake.........quit buying it, looking at it & giving up your entire families & jobs just to get a dose of it.......breaking your necks (while dating the plain girl no less) to oogle at the made to order illusion and we woman will sure save tons of money not buying all that stuff! Wow....so weird. The topless bars and Houses of ill repute are booming. Where are these men that say they want natural??? Buying the books, watching the movies..TV, going to the bars & having affairs at the nearset hotel. WWWWWWWhat's happening? Somebody please.......prove me wrong :) Suddenlynewmeaning
PS. My user name says it all for me. I'm 57 years old and suddenly life has new meaning for me because I am finally loving being myself. My own joy over rides all ___holes.

| Women and makeup Posted: 9/15/2006 6:04:37 PM | | Luckily today we can get hold of so much good advise, and some great products to protect our skin, but look good at the same time. Its actually better to use a light moistured foundation these days to protect our skin from the sun, pollutants, that to go without.Living in Australia i have to be very careful, but i still have good clear skin, because i listen to advise, and make sure my skin is always protected from all the elements not just the sun. | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 9/15/2006 8:32:20 PM | A little make-up is good. But don't go for the Tammy Fae Baker look!
I've met a few women at some events who go at it far too much. 50 plus group with Fire engine red hair and green makeup! They look like a Vulcan going to a Halloween party.
And ladies stay out of the sun! There are a lot of 20 somethings that have skin that now looks like the Canals of Mars. My mom at 83 has better skin than many of the young "Hotties" I see on the dance floor.

| Women and makeup Posted: 9/16/2006 5:35:27 AM | I grew up watching three older sister apply tons of make-up before school. I decided that I would never reach that level. I feel dirty if I use makeup. It's very un-natural and bad for my skin. Sometimes I might wear shadow, mascara and clear lip gloss, but that's a rare moment. Perfume---YUKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I always wonder why males and females needed to mask themselves with so much smell. I for one would love the world to ban perfume in places that are closed in- much the same as smokers are banned. However, there are people who feel that make-up and perfume or aftershave is what makes them who they are. I'll accept that if others will accept that I will never fall prey to heavy make-up. Take me as I am!

| Women and makeup Posted: 1/1/2007 3:04:22 AM | | I love wearing makeup and I'm not going to stop. I don't wear a lot of it either. But I do get carried away with my lipgloss and mascara sometimes (my 2 favorite makeup that I can't live without). I'm reapplying the lipgloss, almost every 2 hours. I spend about 10-15 minutes on my mascara sometimes. Each woman is different. | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 1/1/2007 5:36:05 AM | IMO less is more.
I like the natural look.
I feel long hair on women does more for their attractiveness than makeup can do.
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 1/11/2007 12:19:20 AM | | Let's just say that I can't live without my mascara and lipgloss. The other things, I can go without. I wear my lipgloss and mascara than anything else. | |
