| Women and makeup Posted: 7/16/2007 10:31:42 PM | | I don't like alot at all, makes me feel so fake because it makes me look so fake..I will always remember this lady that drew her eyebrow's on, I can remember her when I was little and how scary she looked to me..I do admit I don't feel right without just a hint of black eyeliner and the smallest amount of blush..I let them do a merle norman makeover once {it was free}, anyway I felt like a stupid looking clown..I just turned 40 and I'm still not gonna pile a inch of fake looking smuck on my face... | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 5:52:14 AM | | Sorry, Muneca, I don't agree - I know I look better with it and unless you have naturally good coloring then some of us look too pale without | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 6:08:51 AM | I enjoy the time i spend putting some makeup on.... I've been told I look good without but hey, I actually think it's fun... | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 8:27:34 AM | The only women I've seen who look just as pretty without makeup are Asians
How very true
I dont use foundation/face powder just moisturiser and lippy Less is more.
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 1:36:50 PM | | Makeup makes me feel better about myself. Makes me more confident. If I went out in public without makeup I'd just be trying to hide my face the entire time. | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 5:29:27 PM | STRUEDEL--- yep, i guess we disagree then...sad that some feel that way IMO (that you dont look good unless you are wearing it or if not then you only look good w/out it if you are asian *rolls eyes*)
anyway, i think natural is best :) although i dont knock those who do choose to wear it, to each his own...
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 7:55:22 PM | I don't know how old you are, Luna, but at my age, I can use some enhancement
Amy Winehouse is only 23 and beautiful - doesn't need makeup, yet wears Cleopatra eyeliner - so cool!
Makeup brings out the artist in me!
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/17/2007 8:40:43 PM | your original post i just found to be a little insulting i suppose (saying that the only women that look good w/out it are asians)
...natural beauty (or better yet, non make-up wearers) comes in all forms and ethnicities/races!!!
and like i said before: i surely dont criticize others for doing so, i just happen to like the natural look myself :)
and yes, some people do look awesome in make-up as well---with that i can agree...
that max factor was one smart man---i'm tellin' ya...
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 7/18/2007 5:46:40 AM | Actually, that was just a generalization about Asians since I work with Asian women and I noticed they don't wear much makeup and yet are beautiful
Anna Nicole, for example, was a natural beauty who looked better without makeup

| Women and makeup Posted: 7/23/2007 11:35:26 AM | | I have to agree with annasthasia. There was this cashier that I frequently saw at a local grocery store. He didn't pay me any attention, not even the "hi, how are you doing." I usually don't wear make-up. But when I went through his line wearing makeup, he had this big grin on his face and started to flirt. This pi**ed me off. I rarely wear make-up. I'm the same person I was then and the same person without it. | |

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/12/2007 2:27:00 AM | Some women are told that it is the only way they could ever be tolerated short of putting a paper bag over their face. I had a group of guys in middle school tell me and my friends we’d have to (I’ll quote b/c I’ll never forget) “use a trowel to apply make-up before we could even be gazed upon by human eyes less they be burned out of their sockets.” (I remember not b/c I cared but b/c I was REALLY impressed with the phrasing). Well me being me I basically flipped them off I didn’t care but the friends I was with to this day apply enough makeup to open a store. Some guys are mean about it and some really like it…I wouldn’t have called it “cheap parlour tricks” But if you prefer that term… My view personally as a woman is that I like make-up. I don’t use a lot but I feel it enhances and highlights some of my better features making me feel better when I look in the mirror. Some women wear it b/c their boyfriends like it (I never understood that b/c those women hate it)
The perfume thing I couldn’t explain people around here don’t do that. :)

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/13/2007 5:05:53 PM | | From my experience I see men love it. The girls that really straighten, highlight and process their hair, get manicures and pedicures, tan and put on a full face of make up get asked out far more often than the plain jane. I am sure there are few men that like the plain jane but the majority I see in my area, like what I call the processed look. It is just an observance. | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/14/2007 12:23:25 PM | | Yes! The"processed look" is a good way to describe it. | |

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/14/2007 6:13:29 PM | Just had a song pop into my head -
Well I was raised a sophisticated kind of style Yeah my taste in music & women drove my folks half wild Mom & dad had a plan for me it was Debutantes & Cebanese But I like my music & I like my women wild

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/14/2007 6:54:36 PM | | Once, I went to Aveda to have them put makeup on me. I specifically told them NO FOUNDATION. I must've gotten the trainee/ Anyway, she put this "tinted moisturizer" on my face. Tinted moisturizer, my a$$! It's foundation, don't lie. | |
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 8/14/2007 8:50:04 PM | | i think that if you wear it right... not overdone and have the right colors on, then i think it can enhance someones look. also, when its used to cover blemishes and imperfections, then it can be helpful for a woman, makes her feel more confident and less self concious about her imperfections. not saying that a blemish should make you feel any less, i just know that if i feel better about it, then i feel better about myself. but, its what i do for a living... so i tend to like it :) | |

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/15/2007 9:29:30 AM | makeup is more of personal choice and a skill, which some of us have yet to master, but hope to achieve a more attractive look. There are a lot of reasons women wear makeup, for their own feeling of sensuality perhaps. If the perfume is not a light lingering slightly expensive name brand it does not have the intended result..lol. I recommand 5th Ave. | |

| Women and makeup Posted: 8/15/2007 9:38:00 AM | I only started wearing a bit of make up at the age of 28, through getting ear bashings from my mates for years. Might have had something to do with being hurled back onto the singles market too though - if honest.
Now I only wear a bit, and have given up completely on foundation, bit of subtle colour round the eyes for me really, that's about it. More of a wash and go girl me.
And as for wearing makeup badly. Those pesky rabbits, really dont suit it. I mean they dont even shave their moustaches!!!! Lippy and eyeliner doesn't work if you have a moustache now does it??

| Women and makeup Posted: 2/2/2009 7:11:21 PM | I love makeup I love the fake look I love the goth look I love the natural look , if they can actually make it look nice
i just love make in general i also love not wearing any makeup at all
|
| Women and makeup Posted: 2/2/2009 9:44:45 PM | I love makeup....there's a look for each mood; completely natural to very dramatic!! I wish I could wear more than I do ,and not have it look like a mask....haven't mastered that art ..probably never will.... But on occasion I still try...
I totally agree with you on this one coldlogic

| Women and makeup Posted: 2/3/2009 12:22:34 AM | I very rarely wear make up, I feel that I'm pretty enough naturally, plus it takes me forever to put on and I don't have the patience, nor do I get enough sleep to worry about adding another 20-30 minutes to my getting ready time. The only exceptions to this is when I have a job interview, a date, or occasionally when I go out with friends. And even then its very simple; a light dusting of powder, eyeliner, eye shadow, mascara and tinted burts bees chapstick/lipgloss. No pounds of concealer and blush.
And as for perfume....its even rarer than the make up, and even then I limit myself to one spurt. I always use the rule of thumb that someone shouldn't be able to smell you unless they're less than a foot or so away.

| Women and makeup Posted: 2/3/2009 3:02:39 PM | [adding another 20-30 minutes to my getting ready time]
I almost always wear at least some makeup- have strong eyeglass prescription & very fair skin so I use it to bring out my eyes & give me some color.
Dont know what you are using but I only take 5 min to put on full face including foundation... but I use BE & not any liquid makeup.. & it doesnt go on with a trowel, it is very natural looking. I would say most of us that basically stay out of the sun (& esp in the winter in the northern states) are pretty pale & need something so not to look washed out.

Haha, I only use powder stuff as well, liquid make my face break out. I don't know why it takes me so long, I don't cake it on like some people do. Maybe I'm just a perfectionist, maybe its because I'm an artist, maybe I just take a long time to get ready. But it seems that I can never have my makeup done in less than 10-15 min with 20-30 being the norm, even the very natural look O_o
