Hmmm....good point drakelang!!

Maybe a touch of San Pellegrino might make a difference in the coffee brew! I wonder if there are any non-carbonated waters from Italy which can be used to make a good espresso?

But then again, with the pizza and cheese thing, not much you can do about that....unless you fly the cheese in straight from Italy or something.....hmmm....

Food for thought!

Pizzaiola on Hutchison corner Laurier (and they have one other branch): thin-crust, either white or whole-wheat, very fresh ingredients, excellent Caesar salad. If you don't want the anchovies, have them hold them for when I'm there.

I don't have that problem in my neighbourhood. It's peppered with great pizza places ...luna pizzeria, gigi's, pizzalicious, mory's to name a few.

worst pizza i ever had is definetly 2 for 1 pizza or lil ceasar's 5 dollar pizza...absolute trash!!

If you want amazing authentic pizza, you need to go to any good Italian restaurant where they cook the pie in a wood burning stove. You may pay 15.oo bucks for a small pizza, but it's definetly worth it if you're a pizza lover.

Now eat up ****es!!!

Prato near Schwartz's had a CHARCoal stove that the Siciliana owner says is the old fashioned way. she claims there are only three in North America!! if anyone wants to go, maybe we can get a tour/demo...there is minimal cheese and the tomatoes are kind of naturally sweet and complex. The crust is soft yet firm like in Naples and the bubbles are like they were just cooked underneath the ashes of Mount Vesuvius (Ok I exaggerate. lets go try it and y tell me).

let me know what time and when and i can call ask them to do a little demo. Tuesdays and Thursdays nights so far after 815 pm is okay. or before 530pm.

the sauce and dough are strictly a secret. :(

I have to say, there are plenty of great Italian restaurants in Montreal. I love pizza, and I've tried many many many different places, both the 99 cent variety and the sit-down gourmet stuff. Many of the aforementioned places have been sampled by yours truly as well.

There are a few places that are decent, but really, Montreal doesn't have really good pizza, compared to other Canadian cities. Ottawa and Toronto... hell, Sault Ste. Marie has better pizza than Montreal (mmm... Carmine's!). The best pizza seems to be in NDG (call me a philistine, but I like Welat Pizza on Somerled. Something about the dough actually makes the crust quite tasty as well) - and it's one of those 99 cent, 2 for 1 places.

But go to almost any Pizza Pizza in Toronto proper, order a pep and cheese or a traditional all-dressed, and it will knock the socks off any pizza in Montreal.

Pizza pizza!? And that is considered Food?! At least try Pizzadelic, cost a bit more, but worth every penny. Pizzaiola is indeed nice too.

Note: This may be considered as advertizment and I should receive a big fat check from them...Guess I can dream..LOL!

I don't know where you guys get to try Pizza Pizza. There's only one in Quebec and it's on campus at McGill university. If you're basing your Pizza Pizza experience on that, then it's no wonder you find it to be horrible.

Like I said, if you want the glory that is Pizza Pizza (not that Double Pizza crap I see throughout this city) you gotta go to Toronto for it, preferably in the downtown core (where they still have the original outlets) The pizza is phenomenal.

I've tried Pizzadelic, and frankly, it's too esoteric to be considered real pizza.

Lived in Ontario for many years and know Toronto very well...and No, not much better there..to my own taste (too sweet)..and there is more then just ONE pizza pizza in Montreal.

In Montreal, there is sooo many types to choose from, If you find too esoteric and want to keep it "Napoli", try "Antico martini" in Cote st-Luc, in St-therese "le Four a bois" or go see Tony at "Vincent" on Laurier for that real big italian traditional pizza.

Anyway, it's fairly easy : If they have a stone or wooden oven..chances are that it will be good.

This is so cool. Everybody posting has pretty much named a new pizza place, so there are almost as many great pizza places named as there are posts.
My vote goes for Velo's in Pointe Claire(the crust actually tastes like fried bread) and Woodland Pizza.
But to change the topic for a bit, how about people name where they had their worse pizza experience?? Hands down it has to be Mike's, and I am so not surprised that most of the Mike's restaurants in Montreal are now closing down. It was just a bad restaurant/chain, I am just amazed they lasted as long as they did.

Okay you fishies, Have you herd the news, ELIOS PIZZERIA was declared the best pizza in Montreal, and I guess my taste buds are working after all. It was televised on CTV news on pulse. I guess I’ll be the judge on the next PIZZA IDOL contest.

Your describing Elios Pizzeria, the door is on the corner of the building, across the street from the buss garage, it’s not Beaubien, it’s Bellchase, one street west of St-Denis and Bellchase. Yes they stack up the pepperoni.

Ok I knew I shouldn't have come into this thread! Now I want Montreal pizza! I'm an ex-Montrealer living in BC and I soooo miss the pizza from there. The best place I found was Lasalle Pizza but I am pretty sure they aren't around anymore. They DO NOT know how to make pizza in B.C. Anyone want to mail me one?
