| What happened to the great pizza in Montreal? Posted: 12/15/2006 10:24:14 PM | as a restaurant owner that is not 2 for 1, i am in total agreement with you. i know that a case of saputo cheese costs me 220.00$ for 10 2.4 kilo blocks. these 2 for 1's use what is know as pizza topper usually to a percentage of 75-80 p.c. pizza topper looks, shreds, melts, browns and tastes like cheese, BUT, is ain't cheese! also, for pepperoni, they usually put 1 big slice per slice of pizza on a small. you get what you pay for! i refuse to lower my standards. at that point i may as well also put imitation bacon bits on a bacon pizza!

| What happened to the great pizza in Montreal? Posted: 1/14/2007 7:09:35 PM | Elio's Pizzeria was the place to go for most Italian's in the 70's. still one of the best.
My picks are
1. Pizzarira Napoletana on Dante st. and BYOW. not the greats services. 2. La Campagnola on 1708 Ave. Dollard in Lasalle and BYOW. Res. need for Fri. and Sat. night excellent. 3. Elio's 4. Il Fornetto 1900 blvd. St. Joseph (Lachine) facing the waterfront.
Also check out La porte Grecque on 4600 blvd. des Sources in DDO and BYOWine. excellent food. Milano on Jarry st. for coffee. Ste. Leonard area. great food.
Please try La Campagnola. Ciao Jerry

| What happened to the great pizza in Montreal? Posted: 1/21/2007 8:18:57 AM | My Dad is Italian and been going to Elio's ( and dragging us there) for ever ! It is the only Pizza he will eat (except my mom s of course)! He also really enjoys there Peperronie lasagna (and it s the only time I see him eat that !) For my part I think Elio makes THE BEST TOMATOE SAUCE ever ! I just dont bother doing mine their's is fantastic!!! U can just buy a pot for $7 and enjoy. If u r lucky they will have on the daily menu eggplant parmagiana - OMG so yummy!!!! But my all time favorite pizza is PIZZA NAPOLITANA on Dante near the Italian CHurch... Try #25 !!!!! and bring your vino!

| What happened to the great pizza in Montreal? Posted: 3/6/2007 9:24:18 PM | | For what it's worth, I have been in Montreal for over 10 years, and the best pizza I have found in the area is not even on the island. Mlle. Laval Pizzeria on Dagenais West in Laval is the best I've tasted in the area, and they'll even keep half of it warm for you while you're eating the first half. | |

| What happened to the great Chinese Food In Montreal? Posted: 3/21/2007 4:25:37 PM | Chinese there used to be a good place on Ste Catherine. Between the soup and noodles and the Wok Inn Too. Then they kept changing owners again and again and we didn't like it as much anymore.
If you're out this way, there is one I like on Pierrefonds Blvd. Between St. Charles and the bridge to Ile-Bizard. Forget their name but their food is good. They have a nice restaurant you can eat there, bring a bottle of wine if you want.
Also a good place here in Vaudreuil-Dorion. A little more upscale than the lunchroom type places downtown, and very good food. On St. Charles in Dorion, not far from the #40 highway.
Pizza... if you know the PA grocery store on Fort? Between Ste Catherine and Maissoneuve where the Provigo is? Upstairs above the PA was a little pizza place. Nothing special. But I like it there they have a cool view of the street below and the food isn't bad. Better than the 2 for 1 anyway.

| What happened to the great Chinese Food In Montreal? Posted: 3/22/2007 11:37:01 AM | Can't go wrong with Kam-Shing on Cote Des Neiges. Just have a light snack beforehand as you may die of hunger waiting to be served.
Rice Sticks with beef/chicken in Black Bean sauce, General Tao, Hot and Sour Soup and countless other Szechuan, Cantonese and Hunan classics.
