I live very near the Kennedy Space Center and there are many highly educated women and men in the area -- but probably no more "intelligent" than in other areas. Just depends on what type of intelligence an individual is seeking. What is one man's intelligent woman may be another man's idea of a real dunce. I feel sure I've been both.  | |

we write here to try and help someone who asked for our help. we didn't know we were being monitored by what or how we say things.
That's only an opinion. Of course, you know what that say about "opinions". When you sterotype people, you open the door for all kinds of responses. The original post seems to have been made because of one person's bad luck and not looking at the whole. Now, suggesting UF or any other school in Fla would only sterotype and indicate that you believe that only college people are intelligent. Again, look up the defination in Webster's and then respond to it. I doubt that you looked it up. You notice that I used "doubt". You can also go through my posts in this forum and find that I'm highly against bashing any age group or gender. | |

Posted: 8/2/2006 8:04:13 AM | I haven't read all the responses yet - but my guess is - most men are not looking for intelligent conversation first - they are looking for the thin Barbie Doll type women - it is not our fault those women are not intelligent.....(okay..no slam to all beauties) but I find that men do not give a woman a chance unless she is a thin, gorgeous person. Most profiles say "thin, nice body, etc" as part of what they are looking for......world's not perfect guys....you could be missing out on your soul mate because of this......give us a chance....you'll be suprised.  | |

I said you could find smart intelligent women in collage because of the fact you are in school, and most people your age are attending collage or a university.

The notion that attractive people are inherently stupid is ludicrous. I can't imagine any intelligent person believing this.
I have met lots of very nice, interesting women online. What was missing was physical attraction. What's on the inside is the easy part.

Posted: 8/6/2006 7:56:21 PM | There is no disputing that there are plenty of intelligent women around. But as with people in general, there aren't many people around who are both intelligent and have good character.
Intelligence isn't the priority that makes or breaks a relationship. Character traits like emotional maturity, honesty, loyalty, and integrity are. Intelligence and creativity need to be somewhat similar in a relationship for the communication to work, but character is by far more important. People have a bad habit of assuming that intellectual virtue and character are the same.
Many people have a misconception of what intelligence is. Intelligence isn't when you have a four year degree because mommy and daddy invested in a trust fund and gave you a stable and healthy environment to grow up in. Intelligence is your ability to reason creatively; no amount of hard work in school will give it to a person. Either a person is born with it or without it.
Personally, my IQ is in the 96th to 98th percentile; meaning I could be considered moderately gifted (if you want to dispute that I am not going to respond). Right now I don't have many friends who are as bright. Its sad but the friends that I have had that were as intelligent (or more) than me had very poor ethics and were generally very dishonest, envious, and emotionally immature. I had one gifted friend who blew a full scholarship by spending the first payment on heroine and cocaine. I had another friend who had SAT scores above 1500 who repeatedly lied to me, talked about me behind my back, and repeated things I had told him in confidence.
In today's society being bright can actually stunt the emotional development of a person. Often a person is given a free ride for being intellectually gifted. Gifted people can be as terrible and sh!tty as anyone else. Its amazing that there are teachers who have worked in the educational system for 20+ years who don't know that.
Its very rare to find a person who is not only ethically sound but also highly intelligent. Hell, its hard to find people who are decent at all. Values are really not held in esteem by the youth of society today. You can tell from the music and literature they produce. There are plenty of kids who think that shooting a person in the back is something to be proud of. You didn't see that as much twenty years ago. | |

I read your profile I did not read anything about you looking for an intelligent woman you mentioned you are looking for a sweet girl. People demonstrate their intelligence in different manners not always through their verbal skills. Women are reluctant at times to show their intelligence due to the fact that some men feel inferior or threatened by intelligent women. I am intelligent but when a man is yacking away about how intelligent he is I keep my mouth shut and pray the date will end soon. Believe me you should not make the mistake that because someone does not use proper english or boldly proclaim they are intelligent you assume they are not. They could be uneducated but they could be artistic or have a talent for something you have not taken time to discover. I wonder if perhaps you do not contact women who sound intelligent. I have been here less than 2 years and have met many intelligent men and women. I find your suggestion that Floridians are not intelligent or well spoken and I hope you do leave perhaps a move to another planet would be in order. | |

You just have to get out and look, we ladies are out there, looking for you men, too. Like one dating site says, we can't meet you if you don't get out in the social scene...Oh, BTW,I am definitely *not* ashamed of my brain, just of being a late bloomer... | |

Intelligent women involve themselves in groups, activities, etc. They have their own lives, and thus, when a man presents himself, sometimes it's difficult to make time. At least, that's the way it is for me anyway. I can't really speak for other intelligent women. It's not a priority to find a man, but rather to live a full and rich life, learning and yet also teaching. But, I wander. The point is, you have to look =) Involve yourself in something you're passionate about, and trust me, you will find them... Florida is definitely not devoid of intelligent women. Trust me =) | |

Florida is great for alot of things, but I've found that it's much more difficult to find intelligent, well spoken people around here with which to relax and have a decent conversation. It's such a rarity that it's kind of disheartening and I'm thinking about moving out of state once I'm done with school. It's a shame too because besides that one minor flaw, this state is amazing. But why, why, why, why, why is it so hard to find women who aren't ashamed of their brain? Maybe it's the age group I'm dealing with, and people around my age aren't concerned with the same things I find interesting... but still!
Whut? Ain't got no intelligunt yung womens 'round yer parts? Dang. Maybe you shuld ponder dummin' down a bit. Bet ya'd find you sum smert ones then.
