- TROPICS -
Down in the tropics on islands lush Sandy white beaches with palms so plush Wind on the surf in sunhines grace Sounds of a paradise sing in pace
Seabirds are calling from air and land Plovers are dipping where water meets sand Oh little pipers that scurry so fleet Tiny the hunters who crave dry feet
Inland the paradise grows strong and green Voices of birds and bugs all yet unseen Lizards and snakes sun out on the rocks Spoonbills in tidal pools by mangrove stalks
Then finds a stream that flows down from above Waters that dance the rocks near drinking dove There are small turtles by the lagoon Oh to the flower vines now in full bloom
Warmth in the air, even in shade Carribean breezes rustles the fade Oh what a peaceful place soothing the soul Here's to the Tropics in Nature's control

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/19/2008 7:22:29 AM | - THE GUY CONTROVERSY -
I saw a write about nice guys From women who have pondered wise Some have stated that they're boring Just too kind and thus ignoring
Others say no challenge there What a thought to choose to share Some say wild is better still Though those boys then break their will
Or they pick the druggie looser Dont blame him if you're the chooser! If you make a poor date choice How berated is your voice
Blocking friends from being kind Seems ironic thus inclined Oh the women with such gripe Casting eyes down in the hype
Perhaps a nice friend or date ( You know, it's the man you hate ) Would in truth make your world better Boring if your scope is fettered
Maybe nice guys have the touch If you stuck it out and such Rather than wasting your tears And playing to bitter fears
So the next time when you choose Guys who like to play and use Remember the ones you scorn Find nice girls when you're forlorn

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/19/2008 8:51:10 AM | There's this side to "nice" guys that a most guys, and most women almost never see.
But I get to see it almost daily and would have to say, also, in quite stunning variety.
I have this, er, FRIEND; let's call her "Kate" and she is single, in her 50s, so guys assume she's desperate.
She's by no means weak or clingy honest to a fault and quite outspoken.
And for some odd reason all these nice guys see in her someone who would benefit from being broken.

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/19/2008 8:52:34 AM | just catchin' that one....had a few thoughts on the topic..lol
nice guys are great but there's a line drawn between giving someone yourself and signing up to be a pawn
in my experience and from what i've heard from my friends we like a nice guy who's strong enough to not allow himself to be a means to an end
we like a man that with an opinion not just a follower or one who's lost looking to fill that space with anyone with no thought given to the cost
we like a man with enough of a life that he can't be constantly at our disposal and a man who puts careful consideration to any love or relationship proposals
who wants a man that would change his favorite color if we asked? finding a place in his world proves to be an easy task...
when a woman has a life and things to do with her time it's nice to have the same such man as a muse for her rhymes
or somethin'....lol g'mornin' Erik :)

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/21/2008 5:06:36 AM | Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggg Ash! That's a really well written poem girl! Awesome! I am tickled that you shared it. I was commenting on someone who was a bit jaded and has posted a reply to a thread about nice guys that this person had perhaps taken them a bit for granted, but ultimately found them a bit boring and "No challenge" hahaha,... Of course this is following a bad experience with some "sex crazed drug addicted looser" from the site. I thought the ironic part of it was the hindsight. I thought I would be a nice guy and send her some words of encouragement as this person is someone who has frequently viewed my profile. So I spun up a nice little letter/e-mail to cheer her up a bit and let her know that as well as the bad there were also some good ones on the site too. But when I went to send her the e-mail, guess what? I have been Blocked by the User! Hahahaha,... apparently I resemble the sex crazed druggie looser in some capacity. Go figure eh? hahaha,... I take no offense to the sex crazed part, that's likely on the true side, but the rest is just not me! So the "You made your own bed now lay in it" muse kicked me right in the pants and I was inspired to write that poem! pretty good eh? ( Honestly I like yours better! )

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/28/2008 6:19:51 PM | A wee minnow floating in the pond, that is me. In quest of truth, communication and honesty. Tall order for us all who swim in the pond. To put forward trust, to not start at the frond that brushes, gently, insistent at our feet. Causes a pause, brings our heart to a beat Of alarm.
As diverse as the oceans are the denizens here No X or Y chromosone will regulate tears or smiles of delight at the meeting of friends. Or a lover, perhaps. We all look to amends of the wrongs we have done, of the rights we can do. Of the chance to prove ourselves, the chance to renew our trust.

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/29/2008 5:38:41 AM | That was very nicely written Limerick. Thank you for sharing it here on my thread!
- SIMPLICITY IN LIFE -
These traits should not be hard or tough Truth and honesty and dedication Grateful are they who cant get enough Sharing their world with communication
Emotions often stab at the senses People are guarded with who they are Sometimes they fall back to their defenses Some can be close, and yet feel far
But to those souls who take the time Looking for good, knowing eachother They will be filled with the divine Love and respect, warmth like no other
Everyone makes mistakes it seems Living them over kills any healing Life is for living, loving, and dreams Growth and great wonder during the feeling

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/29/2008 8:13:44 AM | ~Broken Heart~
As pieces fall of thy heart Crash, like deafening thunder Feelings, lives torn apart Love once, never put asunder
Words untrue, ring out Never one or other to blame But in public, one shout Cruel to claim, no shame
Sheltered, from the stormy blast As words flow from tainted stream No wisdom or help in ages past In my soul, a silent scream
Empty words of trust Words of hope, lost Unforgiving, a spankin' lust For a true heart, it cost
One seeks lust, One Love A heart is a precious gift From the creator above Spoken word, causes rift
To honor, "Law of Attraction" Must be true of heart and soul To have such a reaction Without care, to let it all go!
If this be error and upon me proved Did I really even know this man...? Was I really ever loved...? Now on my own, Strong I Stand!
In thy world of darkness lie With heavy heart I must say... Good-bye

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 11/29/2008 5:39:14 PM | Very well written Cynthia! Thank you for sharing it. If only it had been so easy to send small words to me. But thank you.
- THE LITTLE THINGS -
A beautiful Girl with a beautiful heart A wonderful feeling, beautiful start Years of magic, strength, and true grace Lost in the heart of soul and face
Ever away and yet always in mind Soft spoken maiden so sweet and kind But in the distance I became lost Second class person, set out at cost
Left to the wayside when I tried harder Not out of malice, just not from ardor Faded importance from my deep love Set aside useless, gentle the shove
Trying to keep us strong til the end Begging for mindfulness in what she'd send Then accusations baseless and cruel As if these years were spent as a fool
As if I'd ever stray from her side As if my heart so strong had lied There are no words for the deep pain Driven into my heart haunting my brain
Only a little thing it would have taken To keep us strong, and unforsaken But it was not to be rather downcast Dregging up frictions from the long past
Breaking the pact that we had made Casting my loyalty out in the shade Only a little communication Made in good faith, no hesitation
Oh now I see writing made well In her wrath sadly words at last swell Finally in our pain she can now write Oh if only she'd shared words in short sight
So I am sorry dear for all your pain Love for you always here will remain Sadness that words could not come in the calm What a shame finally, pain like a bomb
So no matter what, I wish you well I love you always, though you can't tell Best wishes for you, and for the kids Sorry that events went as they did
I will miss all of the promise we shared I will miss thoughts of hope, and feel dispaired But I cannot be ignored any more I deserve better than seeming a bore
I hope in happiness one day you'll shine I wish we could be one and you were mine But I will move on, and you will too Though you do not believe, I believe in you
- Erik -
Sorry that we could not have been stronger. I tried. Words should not be written in haste or anger. I wish you the very best and the children as well. Thank you for leaving me something at last. It was not much to ask I think, but in the end, we will probably be better off finding a new day for each of us, with better suited partners. Take care of yourself love. Farewell,...

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 12/1/2008 7:15:51 AM | - THE SUN LIGHT-
Beams of light so tender bright Dancing cross the water's sheet Morning chases night away Ever cycling with heat
Listen to the music play Think of grateful things in life Walk with power bold and full Free yourself for toil and strife
Sitting silent in the sunshine Hearing birds that sing about All the time that they are given Purpose whole and free of doubt
Blue the sky and soft the breeze Gentle sunlight warming skin As the night has went to sleep So the fresh day will begin

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 12/3/2008 4:59:34 AM | - AFTERSTORM -
Silent sun that lights the morn Shortened shadows dim in form Smile upon the new day cast Free the air and breath at last
Growing light and rising spirit Songs of birds for those who hear it Oh the gentle waking land From the storm once bold and grand
And now after in the glow Thoughts of warmth that seem to know That the things that fade behind Are best kept in fallen mind

Cruising through the shallows Looking through the deep Red within the water Hunter in her keep
Sleek and rather racey Streamline in her form Jaws with deadly power Predatory unworn
Exploring with her mouth In the silent dark Suddenly she takes him Oh the silent shark

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 12/6/2008 2:57:37 PM | On our journey toward self betterment, sometimes we lock into the dream or fantasy we have for ourselves and then begin to really entertain the thoughts. We ask ourself if we can do this or live this fantasy, and when the answer is yes, you have taken a step beyond the fantasy and into a theory. Then we ask ourselves if we are willing to make the sacrifices that it will take to realize the theory and live our lives as we desire. If the answer is once again Yes, we find ourselves starting down that path. If we further spend time every day to reinforce that new self perception through visioning it for at least twenty minutes a time three times a day, you will begin a remarkable transormation as your old self image shifts and is replaced by the new self vision. This then becomes the "new" you and you will begin to automatically do and think and act in ways that support your goal and self vision. The best part of this is the subtlety with which it occurs. Tiny beautiful spheres split and crack and a small simple dark caterpiller emerges to feed and grow. And as it grows colours begin to fill it's body and one might look at it and say "How beautiful and fantastic this lovely creature is!" In fact it would be easy to marvel at it in this stage and not realize that even better is to come. Soon it spins a caccoon and is encased in a beautiful latern like structure and again one may marvel and say "How inspiring this being is in it's wonderful home!" Yet still there is more to come. One day the casing splits and a butterfly emerges. As blood fills its wings they expand before hardening into a magnificent sight. Now the marvelous new butterfly takes to wing to begin the next stages of it's life cycle. So as you grow and marvel, realize that what you are looking at could well be but the begining stages. It is likely that you do not yet see the butterfly that waits in your future. But it is there, if you choose to embrace your desires and live your life fully!

She lurks the murky waters Not caring How they rate her.
Or knowing about rating, or caring about the difference between "chum" versus "chum".
The will of the sea, she. That which may find itself on top She knows always settles to the bottom.

Not sure if it is in response to my "Maneater" poem, or an entirely seperate thought stream? If it was regarding my poem, the poem was left for someone else. If not, no worries. Thanks for Sharing that with us. Cheers!

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 12/10/2008 4:45:59 PM | "Jeg er den en!" - Skjold
How can you measure the time you exist in a matter of moments? How do you share the good without contrasting the turmoil that shapes it? You do so in balance and with a belief in yourself! You measure yourself not agains't others, rather agains't your own potential You see with clearity for it is the way you choose to see You determine your fate with desire and purpose Those without purpose pass their time without measure They drift and consume without contribution There is a true difference between existing and living So many folks merely exist They settle for that which appears rather than that which can be It is better in their eyes to take a path of easy measure rather than a course that challenges them to be more They turn to religion or family or friends for definition rather than defining themselves for themselves In the end the potential they housed is wasted on mediocrity But within all of us lurks a greater promise You must open your eyes for the light or close them for eternity without vision Do not fear success for it is waiting your knock The door opens for those who dare to dream For those who believe in themselves and their potential

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 12/13/2008 6:20:06 AM | - VAR'S FUNERAL RITE -
Across the waters chopping in storm My kayak loaded and blown to form The cold and wet from the windswept bay As if I were tested to give up and stay
But not this night with what must be done My precious beloved, my number one Although Var departed my love is strong I paddled with her in thewful throng
Her body to rest on an island we shared A place without scavengers digging there My beautiful dog wrapped up at rest I weathered the gale and passed the test
Late last night under the bright moon My eyes in tears, her span too soon I went to a hillside and dug through rock And clay and shell with determined stock
A labor of love I hated so much But for my dog anything and as such I dug til the pit was deep and wide Then looked to her face one last time in pride
My beautiful dog now resting and passed I whispered to her of a love that will last Than set her on down, wrapped up, in the earth With all of her toys, and bowls from birth
I covered her well and sang an old song Remembered her always as grand and strong Then back to the kayak and the fierce gale Across the dark waters alone and pale
I'll always remember you Var evermore And you know that I will oft visit your shore I thank you for being my dog and best friend I'll carry you with me well unto the end
