If you knew me you might say This one's a big anomoly A paradox from another age But live with modern technology
The horseman who drives today A swordsman without the need An artist in a world still grey A talker who can do the deed
Dressed up to work, but works to play Strong but silent and soft of word Always survives anything thrown Humor quite sharp, deep, or absurd
Knows the ettiquette when with Royals Knows the cultures of distant land Whether it's science, art, or life These are all things I understand
Philosophy or the dark side Children and animals are drawn Reasoning, thinking, solving in mind Skills that to many are long gone
If you had hoped for such a thing Why would you pause on the seeing? And once the chance fades to another It's you to blame for self freeing

Too much chaos in their mind Knowing only failing faith See the prize and yet be blind Still well bound by inner wraith
Seeking one to make them whole Yet their chance they pass each day Until when at last they see What they seek has pulled away
When you cry unto true gold It will weather salty tears Luster still is shown untold Though reforged throughout the years
So I tire of the games From the ones who do not play Hypocrits the women strange Lost by choice in muddled grey

My heros are folks you may not know My heros are those who stand for good The ones with desire to think and grow Who dont always do what we think they should
My heros dont wear capes or bend steel My heros cannot fly without a machine My heros are those who care for the world My heros are children who keep the parks clean
My heros are folks who rebuild from disaster My heros help wildlife and animals needs My heros volunteer at homeless shelters My heros give time, and money, and deeds
My heros dont need to be in the news My heros hold doors for others when walking My heros fix flats for stranded strangers My heros will listen when others are talking
My heros help children to find their way home My heros train guide dogs to help those they can My heros share smiles with elderly people My heros have hearts that are big and grand
My heros are black, and white, and all colours My heros are older or young, any age My heros all come from all different places My heros are beautiful on every stage
My heros are men and women with heart Their courage for life is amazing and strong My heros have goals that set them apart My heros seek truth to overcome wrong

I can feel the serpent song That evades your ear I just know where I belong Though that brings some fear
Others fear what they dont know Except dumb or daring How can you bask in the glow If you loose the caring?
I can hear the serpent song Vibes that chill the weak I am ever in quite strong For the paths I seek

Standing silent on the train Farms of mark shrouded in fog Storks framed well in rising orange Hunting fields for fish or frog
Walking on the sleeping street Magic pulses through the ground Here the magic never failed From the times no longer found
In the air a life unique As if breathing in a thing That explores your very soul Then enhances your living
People smile and speak a tongue Rooted deep in times of olde And the flag oldest on earth Speaks of Gods and people bold
Plants and animals seem better Something fills them with more vibes Nourished by a slowing time Fueled and rich from ancient tribes
Waters shallow in the fjords Purple starfish in the bay Swans that swim where Vikings fished Seagulls rule the skies by day
Oh the magic like no other Fires forged that never died People who still walk the spell More than simple grounds of pride

Winds sweep endlessly across the desert in storm Eating at the red and cream sandstone Carving slowly a form of elegant decay Converting rock to sand that must serve it's master Wind racing and kicking the sand into a flurry Dust devils dancing in the wild The same wind that enslaves water and vapor now dances the earth And in it's passing there is a renewal A silent relief that treats in the sun Hollowed giants that defy for a time But ever lossing their war with the unseen

My wonderful grandmother Yesterday I felt it The void The emptiness And today the phone call Ninety-one years of incredible memories At last faded A passing that tears at me My closest family member My dearest childhood memories Oh and the stories The survival of World War two Hiding my grandfather from the Ghestapo because he was a policeman Her brother Leon imprisoned in Denmark by the Germans The most decorated freedom fighter and war vet in Denmark The years after The travels and adventures The quiet times And a thousand memories all passing with her A great treasure lost A great void in my soul But my love for her will be eternal That can never die!
Jeg Elsker dig Mormor! Jeg skal aldrige glem dig. Du er i mit hjarte altid! Favel Fru Pedersen. Jeg kan husk alt. Tak fra Erik.

If you could stop the clubbing of seals Defenselessly bludgeoned regardless of squeals If you could stop killers who slay for a buck Who say that it's needed as they run amok
If you could shake government like Stephen Harper Who protects destruction while numbers drop sharper If you could stop biorape by Sarah Palin Endorsing industry so Belugas are failin'
If you could tell Japanese whale poaching slayers That the world abhores them and all their perveyors If you could mute Glenn Inwood from speaking Preaching extermination that he's seeking
If you could tell Taiji bay fishermen loudly Stop slaying dolphins and tainted meat proudly If you could help polar bear suffering starvation Or Narwhales just butchered for horns and frustration
If you could do all these things that I list Wouldn't you feel good and never remissed? Truth is you can act and that your voice matters If you are willing to speak up fear shatters
- Erik -
Talk to your local representatives. It does not matter where in the world you are, or what your nationality is, all that matters is that you speak up and do your part. The smallest to the largest effort, to inform others, contact government officials with concern, support initiatives, clean a park or a beach, recycle waste, support the environment, it all matters. IF you are willing to stand up and make a little effort.

ode to var
what can i say about sweet var i know she liked riding in the car even if the trip wasn’t too far
near you, she’d always wag her tail and make you smile, without fail she was the heroic star of many a tale
i know that she was very smart and that it hurts to be apart but var will always be in your heart | |

- REIGN OF STROMATOLITES -
That they wrestled with darkness from deep inside But conscience found no champion The explosion that shattered the beauty pristine The rot of greed that hurled so deep No science to share with death on their lips No voices of reason among greedy hands The butchers of mother who shear off her gifts A profit foretelling the songs of the echo And in her constancy they cheer But behind them she nods as her children are slain The lopping of bodyparts sheer mutilations that suffer the hope without any dawn A longing for more and ever hands reaching No matter to think with, no matter at all Hacking and killing the untold beasts Day and Night without a respite And she in disgust now closes behind them A smile bittersweet for all that has passed Her hands many billion that now reign the humans Hers hands many billion to suffocate all A sentence for life that they forced upon her Please kill us great mother for we have been foul Oh for the tears that she will now weep Pain in the gripping of billions alike Squeezing them all, freeing her kingdom Only the tiny shall her grasp spare Only the smallest shall hold dominion Fade off humanity Fate for most life

| Erik the Viking's Poetry and other gems for PoF. Posted: 5/4/2009 8:10:54 PM | The sharks of the world are lingering low A hundred million killed each year you know That's one hundred ninety point two each minute We're killing them off and now they can't win it
And when we go too far with slaughtering sharks The age of humanity will die real dark For we need the shark if we are to live A trade for our life is what they can give
For sharks feed on fishes and crustaceans too Which all feed on algae, and green plants it's true So without the sharks their numbers will jump And fat on our lifeline these all will grow fat

internal bleeding
move on without a sound you've taken what you want from me I'll see your face around and you'll see what you want to see
I'll never let you know how very much you meant to me I'll show a smile and so give back the heart you lent to me
and chalk it up to life and lock that door and hide the key and someday when it's safe remember who we tried to be
