WHAT DO YOU THINK OF SPEED DATING?????

It 's a GREAT way to meet for those of us whose Chemistry detectors work, although I am starting to believe that THAT is very rare. I attended 2 in my local area and though there was no spark with/for any of the ladies, I did meet about 10 each time... and finding the RIGHT one IS a numbers game. Do the math. It makes good sense.

Meeting REAL people face to face and TALKING. Way too scary or REAL for a lot of Fish I believe...

SLAFFA, I think that may be part of the problem - people are looking for an instant spark, where they go weak in the knees and see fireworks and hear birds singing as soon as they make eye contact with someone and they assume there's no connection if they don't. While that may happen sometimes, it doesn't always. It didn't for me. I didn't notice a "spark" with anyone I met, so I shrugged it off and gave a "yes" vote to five guys I had thought seemed interesting and nice, at least. One of them almost didn't get a message from me, but I had brought a friend with me and SHE was the one who told me that he seemed like he was my type and convinced me to send him a message.

So I did, and after quite a bit of chatting online, we decided to give the in-person meeting another shot (he was the LAST one I met and we were both kind of worn out by the time we had chatted!) So we went out on a date, and as soon as we saw each other again - THERE were those sparks. (For the record, he pretty much told me the same thing; he didn't feel a connection with anyone either but gave me a good vote because I was outgoing and he thought I was cute.)

To think I could've missed out if I hadn't given him a second chance. :)

Exactly. Here is something important:

(he was the LAST one I met and we were both kind of worn out by the time we had chatted!)

If you're tired, worn out, had to fight traffic to get to the date, had a hectic day, who would feel sparks? That doesn't mean there won't be a connection if you get together again when you're both relaxed. All this instant this instant that. People aren't mashed potatoes you know. You don't just add water, stir and poof you have it.

I think the reason most men run into problems is that they automatically rule out anyone who doesn't give them an instant hard on. They narrow the pool down so much that they end up selecting someone who is not an optimal match for them in all other respects.

I can't comment on how women handle things as all of my dating experience is with men.

I think speed dating is fine...provided that there's an accompanying speed divorcing.
