It's pretty shocking how many people i've spoken to over the years actually suffer with claustrophobia. I've had it for the last 4+ years.
I'm due to have an MRI scan in the next few weeks/months, depends how long the list is!
I'm petrified of going into that machine......
On the up...i will be glad to see the inside of my knee!!

Spiders and heights (although i love theme park rides, just can't look down) i have a phobia of too ........

Have a phobia of needles, I too can't even look at the things on TV. Had to go and have blood test couple of years ago. The ex had to come with me and ask the nurses to put everything away and stand with the needle behind their back while I entered the room!

Spiders - only came around after an episode with another ex and her pet tarantula.

And flying

Dwarves - And yes, I know it may sound cruel but phobia's are often irrational.
Heights, and I am even worse if it is above water.

I don't have a problem with needles- I had a course of treatment once that meant injecting myself daily for weeks- no problem.

Insects- I may not be happy about it, but moths, wasps, spiders, slugs whatever- no problem...until they are dead.

I have a real phobia about dead things- they make me cringe just thinking about it...road kill, pets, dead flies- anything I am out of there....I can barely type it.

suffer from Vertigo, on high balcony or a window high up, for some reason get an urge to jump! almost get a bit giddy!

Real biggie for me is dentists!!! omg, cold sweats, shakes, panic attacks. Cant go alone at all.

have had a nurse hold my hand, dug nails in so much I drew blood!!

and when the drill hit my tooth once, I tore the arm off the dentists chair!!!

I have goosebumps and am shaking just typing this!

i had a fear of heights... i couldn't even go down a escalator at one point... i went out with this firefighter a couple of years ago.. we went shopping and we came across this escalator.. i went into a cold sweat!... he looked at me and said "whats up?"
i explained i couldn't go on it......
he laughed, picked me up, threw me over his shoulder and took me down kicking and screaming..... think the flooding idea really works.... i can do anything to do with heights now...

The biggest phobia that most men have is the fear of approaching women they are attracted to. This used to be a major fear of mine until I decided to confront it and force myself to do approaches. I found that the more approaches I did the less this fear became.

Here is world famous dating guru Mystery talking about the fear of the approach:

This is weird one but I fear the tops of tomatoes, the stalks which look (to me) like a dead spider. Im not afraid of living spiders but dont like dead ones. My youngest brother has great fun with that phobia when I visit.

Spiders bigger then a 2 pence piece - I've stayed in the bath for over an hour AFTER being done washing myself as there was one on the rug. Luckily my mobile was in the bathroom with me so I rang a friend and got them to come get it. (don't mind tiny ones)

Heights - I was fine until after having my 1st child. Then I started suffering from really bed vertigo and had to be medicated to manage the stairs with out fainting. I started getting a fear of passing out at certain heights and allthought the vertigo has ceased since having my 2nd child I still have the fear of it returning.

wet wool / cotton wool balls - it's makes me cringe to the point of being rather ill. My 8yr old has to get the wooly jumpers out the washing machine and lay them to dry on the airer for me. I have to get him to check they are dry before I can touch them lol. And cotton wool balls are a definate no no. I took my own cotton wool PADS to hospital with me when had my kids as I can't touch cotton wool balls. Even with the pads, if I feel them creak or stretch I have to wretch. lol

Eyes

Well i mean anyone touching my eyes that is....

Spent some of last week with some very patient nurses trying to give me some eyedrops, just couldnt do it myself. Was really tense and had to sit on my hands.

Its weird because i dont mind needles or anything else really, its just anyone getting near to my eyes really makes my hairs stand on edge

Nice link never looked at it that way.

I have quite a few phobias but don't let them beat me.
Hate heights (done 2 bungee jumps but still terrifies me)
Hate spiders (regularly let my mate put his tarantula on me to desensitise myself but while i'm used to it I'm still scared of house spiders ?)
Thinking about it I'm not keen on anything with more than 4 legs :)

I'm scared of spiders, but less than I used to be, the more you are exposed to something you're phobic about, the more you get used to it. I wouldn't like to go on a desensitisation programme though, they're too ambirious, the thought of holding a tarantula is terrifying!

I wonder why so many people are scared of spiders? It should be looked into I reckon.
I love insects and bugs and particularly like photographing them but spiders, always get me sweating and on edge, cant help it. Hate the buggers...

Not really phobic as such, i'm not keen on snakes or****roaches and i'm not a lover of clowns or stephen king type china dolls, but I wouldn't run out of the room if one w as present (walk out the room with reference to snake). I have had a bit of virtigo while at the top of a craggy rock at one of the 3 peaks, (Scafel I think it was) but I wasn't warned what to expect and it was a cloudy day, so wasn't ready for it lol (Don't think I would do it again)

The biggest phobia that most men have is the fear of approaching women they are attracted to.

Most men? Has there been a scientific study done on that one?

I used to have a fear of heights till I went abseiling off a cliff. Apparently my face was green when I reached the bottom but I loved it the second time round. I don't like spiders but it's not bad enough to be a genuine phobia. Couldn't actually touch one, mind (shudder).
