While I agree that it is dishonest for anyone to post 15 year old pics, there is never a guarantee that any posted picture is "recent" or in some cases even legitimately the person. Key word there being guarantee. Unfortunately, no matter how much we want an honest representation of what a person looks like, if our focus of attraction is predominantly on looks - then we are setting ourselves up for disappointments in that respect. I would hope that the substance of my character isn't defined by my looks, but then I guess it depends what one is looking for, doesn't it? | |

Posted: 6/19/2007 8:01:43 PM | Hello to all. I just wanted to say that I am new to this website. I didn't plan on it and I didn't prepare for it. I am not technically challenged so I am sure I could figure out how to download a pic. However, I do not run around posing for cameras and I do not have a recent picture of myself. It's not that I am ashamed by my looks...I rather like my looks  It's just that I am a very busy person who has other priorities. Yes, I will get around to posting my pic and, yes, I will probably get more emails as a result. I would hope that my picture is not the ONLY reason someone contacts me. I have a wonderful mind as well and have been told on more than one occasion that I have a lot of opinions...LOTS of opinions. At any rate, all I am trying to say here is that I do not have anything to hide. I am a reasonably physically attractive person, I am not married, my coworkers know that I have joined this site (BTW, they were very supportive AFTER they stopped rolling on the floor with laughter), and I do not have a criminal record. For those of you who refuse to speak to someone who does not have a pic posted on line, you may very well be missing out on a wonderful person. | |

The legitimate reason to not post a photo is that the person has something to hide. It probably means the person is
a) married,
b) in a relationship,
c) wanted by the police,
d) suffers from leprosy, or
e) hideously ugly.

One was a federal judge and the publicity and press would have been horrible for his career and position
One was an elected official whose husband had died the first year she was in office and she ran her ad 2 years later. Again, it was the publicity she wanted to avoid.
One lost her husband two years ago and she didn't want to get a lot of emails (very attractive lady) so not posting a picture allowed her to pick and choose who she cared to respond to.
One of them was on this site while the other two were on another site. | |

there is
NO REASON UNLESS YOU ARE TRYING TO HIDE SOMETHING!
lets face it we are all here for the same reason
those of us who are really available that is..
you wouldnt approach someone in a super mkt or at work
who walked around with a bag over their head
so that only leaves the reasons you mentioned..
As far as being so important or in such an important job
well put on sunglasses post a private picture and send it to
whoever you like..
thanks to sites like this one at least its FREE!
and the stigma for dating via the net is all gone..
everybodys doing it..
IS IT BETTER TO HANG OVER A BAR ALL ITE SLURPING BEER
AND WAITING TO GET LUCKY ???
I dont think so..but a picture is mandatory period.

if a picture was mandatory, on every site..
simply set the form up to accept a pix first .no pix no application
maybe that would scare the marrieds/attached away
It really isnt fair to the to the rest of us who are actually available.

I have my pics private. I used to not even have those.. I might go back to that though.

Posted: 8/20/2007 1:49:43 PM | Perhaps, I once met a woman who contacted me without a picture. It turms out she was beautiful. Her reason however for not having a picture was because she was in a high profile public position and needed discretion. I do agree with other comments however that you should be able to send a picture with correspondence. In my case - she did send me a pic before we met.
I tend to stay away from contact if there is no pic available - especially first contact. | |

I'm still here because I met a wonderful person through this site and also have made alot of friends through it. Some I've met in person and some I've met through posts, etc. Have to say that there are some very nice people here. Of course, some are here not to lend good advice, good conversation, joking, etc., but, have nothing better to do with their life. Case in point, review a certain poster on this thread. | |
