| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/18/2006 11:04:35 AM | Well, this is a good one....lol.
Here is what you do now...:)
Grab a big sticky.......write on it the "nic".....and "I can be found on plentyoffish.com come on fishing" and accidently pat it on their back....
Actually, I have seen people from the site -don't really look like the person...never really does..... As one person said, "Do you fish" -I think that is an excellent ice breaker...

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/18/2006 7:45:39 PM | happened to me... someone from pof saw me in a festival.. I didn't see him.. and he passed his way... later on he message me saying that he saw me there...what is the problem...why the heck he didn't came to talk.. I wouldn't ignore him or call the security ahahhaha.....
if you see someone and your heart tell you to go talk to her or him...just go... if he or she push you away well fine..you will be fix about his or her behavior... that is the worse that will happen...
The only way to act in life is by following our heart...

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/18/2006 10:14:28 PM | In my personal situation.
If we've talked on here and by chance you saw me in public. Don't be afraid to say "hi".
I have a goal in life to leave behind a legacy of being known for my friendliness. I want people to see me as approachable, friendly, and an all around great person.
As far as if I deleted your message without reading it. It was most likely by accident.
On that note of being friendly. If the situation was reversed, I would tap you on the shoulder and say "hi". Especially someone I've chatted with a few times.

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/20/2006 8:35:40 AM | | I never see anybody local from on here out in public. I've wondered why I don't run into them somewhere in the malls or grocery stores or somewhere. I would probably say hi but leave it to that. If they recognized me and wanted to say more, that would be fine. | |

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/20/2006 3:14:11 PM | If I posted my picture and someone recognized me offline I would be absolutely mortified. I would prefer them to not acknowledge that they have seen me on the site. Fear of recognition is the number one thing that keeps people from posting their pictures. No offense, but I find it completely insensitive to mention that you have seen him and then steer the conversation to the fact that you turned him down when you were online :+(
I think that if we recognize someone from the site in real life (and we find them attractive) we should flirt with them or make a move on them as we would any other person. If it were me I would pursue the guy offline and not mention Plenty of Fish till we get very close...maybe I would never even mention it at all!
Areumine, I am not intending to put you down. I just feel embarassed for the guy. Especially if he is in a job that involves working with the public...he may have joked around and seemed relaxed, but deep down inside I bet her would have preferred not to be recognized.

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/20/2006 3:25:07 PM | | if i have chosen to not return an email then that means i do not wish to pursue anything with that individual. if he saw me in public and approached me i would not be impressed and i would be mildly creeped out. | |

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/20/2006 3:47:35 PM | | I was on a first date at the old standby - the coffee shop. The lady at the next table look familiar; I just wasn't sure where I'd seen her before. She was with some guy. She never looked over at me nor did she appeared to recognize me. Later, when I got home I had a letter from POF. I checked the profile; it was the lady from the coffee shop. Her letter said: "How was your date? Hope it was better than mine." | |

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/20/2006 8:44:35 PM | | This happened to me a while back...I was in the local grocery store, and with my children, although my son, thank God, had gone into the video section of the store, but with my 2 year old and my 16 year old. This person came up to me, and I am sorry, but I turned around and I thought he was going to ask me for some money, he looked like what my 16 year old describes as a 'hobo' (homeless man)....He said to me "Aren't you "profile name" ?" I was mortified!! My daughter knows that I am on this site, but for everyone around to hear it? Embaressing! I said to him "I don't know you." But he presisted with me. I finally walked away! I am not ashamed that I have an ad on a dating site, but I would like a little bit of privacy! I would never approach anyone I 'thpught' I recognized from this site unless I knew them personally,..NEVER. And never approach anyone who has their family with them!!!! | |

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/21/2006 4:53:52 AM | That's a tough one...I have been recognized in public ( back in the day I used to show my pic's)...and I have to say I got a little creeped out. Three weeks in a row, I was out and about and approached, two by email..one in person. The two in email...ended up being very nice and even made friends with one of them...and the one I became friends with...was in fact someone I had originally chosen not to talk to. The other I run into here and there and we always say Hello to each other. The one that approached me in person...was also one I had rejected...as he creeped me out online. He creeped me out even more in person...then bothered me even more by emails after. Ended up blocking him in fact.
So while two out of three "sightings" turned out okay...it still wierded me out a little...due to creepy guy. The thought of some pyscho/stalker type knowing what I look like...living in the same town from me...not far from me in fact...was enough for me to re-evaluate how I approached "onlinedatingland".
In answer to the question...better to go the email them after approach...that way, you are giving them the opportunity to keep their privacy, and their control over the situation. In this day and age...with so many people out there with "issues" or pyscho tendencies...whether you are male or female, we all need to be careful and cautious to some degree.

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/21/2006 6:26:21 AM | | I had some guy add me to his MSN after somehow coming across my msn myspace. (I didn't know there was a privacy filter at first so it was public)!! He had been looking at my pictures and what not and started talking to me. Then he tells me "I saw you at the gas station (location and what not) and proceeded to tell me what I was wearing and what I was driving. Yikes....creped me you that is for sure. | |

| Saw them online...then, saw them in public..... Posted: 8/21/2006 7:05:28 AM | I had someone email me....he has no pic. Says he has seen me at the gym and then tells me he wants to "do me" on the bench...then made a bunch of "hate" remarks. *poof* Onto the block list....
but still...this whackjob works out where I do and now I will be always watching.
