Posted: 8/17/2006 2:53:38 AM | For the last 10 years, this family has been slandered without a shred of proof to back the coments up,....The lead investigator in this case even wrote a book in which he again declairs the mom of the murder and the dad of conspiracy,...after the fact,...
For months now they have apparently been following this person,....and even informed the parents some time before the mom died of cancer,..last June,...that they were persuing this suspect,...
So they have known all this time that the parents whom they accused openly,...were innocent,...YET, so far no one has even made the gesture to appologize,...for jumping to conclusions,....for dammaging the character of the whole family,....
Would it really have been so hard to say,...we have after months of investigation made an arrest in the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey, we would also like to appologize to the Ramsey family for any defimation,.....etc,...etc,....etc,?????? | |

Ummmm....the character of the family....they had their 6 year old doing a psuedo
strip tease in front of strangers singing love songs along the way. They may
not be accused of killing their daughter, but I think they could be accused
of other things. Their character was damaged from other things.
Would it really have been so hard to say,...we have after months of investigation made an arrest in the murder of Jon Benet Ramsey, we would also like to appologize to the Ramsey family for any defimation
The cops owe nobody an apology but only "regrets".......the parents are
usually the first suspects in a murder case especially the mothers. Sometimes
they get it wrong, often times they don't.
Fact: 600 mothers murder their own children every year. 70.3 percent of perpetrators of
child abuse were female parents acting alone or with others.
....so, it goes to reason that the police would look at the mother - it's their J-O-B.
Yes, it is a form of criminal profiling...much like african-americans are profiled
while driving on highways late at night.
And checking the internet stats; SIDS is the best way for a parent to hide the
killing of their own child....estimates of 3100 murders a year are concealed
under SIDS. | |

Sneak into the house at night, take her from her bed, take her to the basement, write a ransom note, then kill her ( accidentally ), and sneaking back out again, without waking anyone up.

I agree that we all jumped to conclusions about the parents. But we still don't have all the facts. One fact we do have, as others have stated, the exploitation of these "pageant kids" by their parents is disgusting. Dressing a 8-9 year old in makeup and heels and parading her around in heels like a ho in a hip hop video IS asking for trouble. Any parent that forces their kid into a pageant should be ashamed. And don't say, "oh but she loves competeing". BULL! She'd rather be outside playing and you(the parent) know it. They're like little league parents only much worse. The little league parent will wait until the kid is off to college to exploit him/her, the pageant parent does it to a little innocent child. | |

Posted: 8/17/2006 7:08:18 AM | These "child models" are paraded in front of us. We look just to critisize, thereby widening the whole affair. We protest, making it a public spectacle, inciting the curious to "go see for themselves", again, expanding the exposure.
What would happen if they had a child pagent, and no audience showed up to applaud? Nobody from the media covered it? Nobody bothered protesting? Would it not die out, simply due to "lack of interest"?
Yet, we expose the kids daily on talent shows, shows that show video clips of families (amazing videos, etc), and allow them to participate in national shows (America has Talent) exposing themselves to the general public. Maybe a moratorium on children on display. No child to be pictured or used on a stage, except in movies etc. No video clips with kids, no "reality shows" with kids, no televised childrens pageants. For movies and such, they can audition in private and can land the parts if their "talents" dictate it.
We won't do such a thing though. We like to see our kids faces plastered all over the media, showing the whole world what a great kid "I" raised. "I" did such a good job as a parent...it may not be about the kids...but about ourselves. | |

I'd be interested from where you got those figures,...
or did you just pick numbers that sounded good?
I personally understand that they have to look at BOTH the parents and anyone else who was in the house at the time,....but I also know supposition alone doesn't allow anyone to make a public declaration of facts,...that's why there are defamation laws,....
The cops that made those statements publically and definitavely absolutely owe this family an appology,....
As for the whole pagent thing,...personally I don't approve of the whole teen pagent,... miss USA,...miss World,..and Miss Universe,...(many of whom started off as little girls in pagents)these things are quite popular in the southern states,....as is the whole cheerleading thing that I don't understand the ferver of either,...
All little girls love to play dress up which is what it is for many of them,....this howeverdoesn't give me the right to say what kind of parents the Ramsey's or any parents that put their kids on display in this manner are,...I suspect some are good parents,..some are not,...and if nothing else it's an activity where the parents are interacting with their kids,...unlike piano lessons or indeed gymnastics,...dancing or figure skating,... (where the uniforms are even more revealing)where the parents only get to stand back and watch....
Many of the little girl pagents are aware of the fact that they might draw pedoes into the audience,...which is why many are closed to all but family members of the contestants,...for the audience,...again I'm not condoning or excusing,..just stating what is,....

Whether she was a child model or beauty queen.... that was never the issue, drop that already. What this case was really about was the murder of a beautiful little girl, and the whole thing got blown so out of proportion. Don't judge the Ramseys too harshly, it was never about the pageant circuit to begin with.
My prayers to the Ramseys for the loss of this special girl and her adoring and falsly accused mother.

1) His ex wife says he is lying. That he was with her several states away
2) He says he drugged her but autopsy said no drugs or alcohol
3) Apparently he had a huge interest in following 2 very public kidnapping cases. Jon Bennet and Paula Klass.
4) He speaks about being in love with her but did they ever actually even meet prior?
5) He seemed very reluctant to give any details yesterday
6) Said it took place over many hours. Police did not seem to think that was the case
The guy does seem to be a creep but is he confessing to a crime he did not commit? Is he just creepy and crazy looking for notoriety? | |

Yep, thats why we have things like investigations, trials, people innocent until proven guilty, ect.
Personally, I suspect this guy may just be a nut case and a perv, not a child murder. But I think I will just wait and see how the investigation goes.
Who knows?.....Maybe soon you can all go back to convicting Patsy without a trial. ;) | |

but one thought has been nagging at me,....
That being,...for all these years the police has had their needle stuck in the Ramsey's, particularly Patsy in the song of she did it no doubt,....
and it is making the police look pretty bad to after all this time,...to even have to consider someone besides the parents or son.........and they are letting themselves wide open for defamation suits,.....having made too many statements in public against the parents,....
So in order to bite down on that very bad tasting pill you would think they would have something more than just,....yup, I did it,....don't you think?
I mean If I were running things, I would do everything I possibly could to keep this guy under wraps,....untill I was absolutely certain of his guilt,....
Immagine how much credibillity would be lost in this case if this guy does get verified as a nutburger,.....I know the press conferrence from the local DA who will have to prosecute this case is making speeches with a deffinate C.Y.A. thread running all through it,...but that may not be enough later,....
The other thing I find currious is that this guy was a pre school teacher,.....
yet no one has said if he was HER pre school teacher,....why not? | |

Posted: 8/17/2006 11:28:19 AM | I find this to be a terribly sad situation. Ten years ago the parents are blamed, brother is blamed, Patsy dies (which i didn't know until reading the articles online), and now someone else is confessing???
The whole thing seems incredibly fishy, but what are we, the public, supposed to believe?
One thing i think that is driving me a little crazy, is how the public are getting mad at the media. I took a media relations course last semester, and while the media seems to glorify what happens in the world, they are only getting information that the public asks for!!
Jump on a band wagon, jump off it, but for gawd sake's, why don't we wait to get a little more information before hanging someone. The one thing that i am really interested in is whether or not his DNA matches the DNA found under JonBenet's nails and in her underwear.
The other thing to consider, is how is Boulder, Colorado supposed to find an impartial jury...
As for the whole thing about paegants, someone made a very good point that if no one went, watched, reported on, they would die away. Even at 18 (which i was at the time of JonBenet's death), i still thought it was wrong to dress these little girls up as little women, but people will do what they want, and if the child expressses SOME interest, then parents will encourage it.
There are always three sides to the story: yours, mine, and the truth.

However to blame the parents for this crime is like saying to a prostitute that was raped that it was her fault because of the way she was dressed. Putting this little girl in those pageants was beyond dumb and may have put her in harm's way but it does not constitute the crime. This man arrested may or may not be the killer, time will tell that but we should not jump to conclusions about that either. John Ramsey like his wife before him will go to his death thinking of all of the things he should have done and should not have allowed. We should allow him privacy in his grief.
Children should be allowed to be children but more than anything else, they should be allowed to live and in innocence. | |
