Posted: 8/30/2009 10:52:56 AM | | I'd say at least one in ten profiles is a fake and they're not so easy to spot either, some of them are really good, i usually look for clues in the background like foreign looking decor, even wall sockets and door handles can give them away seeing as they usually pinch the pics of some very attractive yank. | |

Oh my gawd... why not? There are just as many fake people in the real world as there are on here. T'is just easier to fake it more behind a keyboard.
I know from my occasional inbox messages and then lack of reply etc. that there are lots of people who assume I'm a fake (fake-her?/fakir/feck-er).
More fool them.
Like will always find like. The good, the bad and the ugly.
And if fake people want to meet fake people on t'internet or in real life...fecking let them I say. I say I say I say.
It's just a free dating site when all is said and done...trawl if you want to. Don't do it if you don't want to.

I hate talking to someone web cam. When I go on a date, I get dressed pretty, put on some lippy, bla bla. I don't want to be doing that for a web cam chat .
I know what you mean with that one, after one conversation on web cam where she twizzled the cam around showing me her house, I spent the next day cleaning my place from top to bottom so I could do the same the next night. I was bloody knackered!
Without some of the resident Miss Marples, I wouldn't have a clue who was fake and who was not on this forum. The dating side is easier, you just ask to meet up. | |

However, whilst you can see the person on a web cam, that only proves they look like they say they do. They can still be a fake in a myriad of other ways. | |

Will a webcam chat weed out someone who is married who says they are single? Or someone who has a live in partner?

Fake profiles for posting reasons happen all the time, all though of late we have been seeing quite a few members profiles being cloned, mine included, but I just do not get why someone would put up a fake profile in order to get a date, ffs waste of time..

Yes but there are people on here who have profiles on this site who go to meets, have their pics taken. If the meet pic matches up with the profile pic how can that person be fake?
I wouldn't go to the bother of putting fake pics up and pretending to be someone else, I would also wonder why someone would insist on a webcam chat.
Some people don't have a webcam, it doesn't necessarily mean they are fake or have anything to hide. I'd wonder why someone had to insist on it, would make me wonder that they had serious trust issues.
Which isn't really an attractive quality. | |

Posted: 9/7/2009 2:52:05 PM | I got chatting to a guy a while back on msn, he asked me to cam and I explained that I did not have a cam (at that time I didn't). He said in that case he was not going to continue chatting cos he had been caught out before with a guy posing as a woman lol. Poor sod.
I will never cam with someone straight away, I don't even cam with friends because I don't like the things. Even though this laptop does have cam, I still say I don't have it.
Not sure if that was the real reason or if he had other motives but I don't see why I have to prove I am 'real'. | |

There are a plethora of factors to consider when trying to be safe on the net.
Then again, so long as I get a fück out of who cares about being safe. Apart from the fact of always wearing a condom of course. If I am going to be brutally bludgeoned to death, I want to know my little pecker is wrapped up. | |

Two were men posing as women, and I'm assuming the others were loons. 2 of them contacted me first, and when I asked them for a phone number, (and I even suggested they call me on a pay phone for safety, I got blocked) I'm quite certain had I talked to them, I'd a heard a BASS voice on the other end of the line, unless of course they'd had those operations........... Still others were ones I had contacted and I thought it was all ok, until they wrote and said they'd started a relationship with someone else, and was no longer looking online. kind of funny how their profiles are still up.
I read recently that there are pranksters out there who write people and want them to talk dirty to them and when they do they post what they write on public websites and on magazines. All of the other women I had written started talking dirty, then when I responded, they quit writing.
So dont feel too bad dude, you're not alone. It happens to more of us guys than you think. | |
