| Olathe Party Saturday, October 14th, 2006 Posted: 10/23/2006 1:15:38 PM | Ferg I've got to be here in Kansas for a bout a month, the county thinks I have too many cars, got to unload about 20 of them, that'll keep them happy, then I head back to the boat, and get it ready to sail to Florida, I expect that will be in about 5 weeks or so. I've still got the electronics to go through, I anchored with a long stick probing for 12 feet of water. Not exactly high tech but it works. I've got a couple of depth finders on the boat, but the stick was easier to debug....

| Olathe Party Saturday, October 14th, 2006 Posted: 11/20/2006 8:08:55 PM | Rob, Bill, et al: I apologize for being tardy with the thank-you note. Pls. forgive me. The Oct. 14 bash in Olathe was the first lonely people's party I've attended, and was a lot of fun. Never expected to meet Elvis! Gee, he'd lost a little weight since the last time he performed... Still good, though. I met a number of nice folks (even some of them W-O-M-E-N!), including one I'd corresponded with several times. Nice girl, if a little ditzy... I probably left before the party really began to swing, but because I wasn't sure how to find my way out of that area I fired up the pickemuptruck about 10:30 and went to look for a motel. Never did find one, but did finally find my way back to Coyote Knob (the home farm/airstrip, etc.) about 0100, and I don't think I even ran over anyone or anything fumbling my way outta town. Olathe looks a lot different from the ground in the middle of the great dark night. I had the impression most of those who attended were dwellers of the greater K.C. Metroplex, with a couple of strays from Lawrence thrown in, so maybe no one would be interested -- but I'm toying with the idea of an invitation to Coyote Knob next spring. Quarter mile to the nearest neighbor, maybe 20 acres of parking, 5 commodes... I'll think about it. However, attendees would have to pledge not to steal any of my books, of which I have a plethora (Well, where do you keep YOUR brains, if any?) Anyhow, thanks again for having me and pls. forgive the lateness of the note. Have a great Thanksgiving and a very merry Xmas! smithfly | |
