I love my dad. He and mom have been together for 50 years.
What does that have to do with the subject.
He taugt me this little saying.

Be nice to some one today . It doesn't cost anything.

I did try to be nice. I didn't just turn and run. I sat down...

In fact in most cases, I'd only run when they tried to smooch me or such (yuk), started to pester me to go home with them or worse... tried to send ME home hoping to get invited upstairs for coffee...

I just noticed that you are from Canada.

Maybe Chilly Willy never made it there.

He was a little cartoon penguin that wore a little knit hat. He was always getting in misadventures.

It was first drawn here in the US in the late 50s I think. It has had various incarnations with the latest being in the late 80s.

It wasn't one of the biggest cartoons, but it was fairly popular.

Do a google search. You'll find a good bit of stuff there about him.

a_vamp,

I'm sure you've noticed that everyone goes off-topic on these forums. Myself included.

Shame on all of us.

OMG...YES!! I had to reply to this one!

I have been on POF since last fall and was msging a fellow quite regularly...began to fall for him and made arrangements to hook up. He is from across Canada as I am from BC...the first, second and third arrangement fell through and all three for some dramatic excuses; the last one being that he had troubles with guilt that the picture posted was not of him!!!

In previous conversations over the phone, he was becoming more and more possessive and even knowing when i was checking my msgs on POF!! Just a couple of months ago, I learned that he had created another alias without a pic and asking me to meet with him for paid sex and/or webcam shows!! and his reason was to see what kind of girl I was...!

The same false pic showed up again with a similar profile and I msg'd curiously this person and have not heard from "him" since. I still communicate with this original person and he is making yet another arrangement to fly to meet me again, but do not trust or believe anything he has to say...I'm am almost 100% sure he has many different identities on this site! Two I know are of handsome, shirtless, muscular men! So ladies on this site please be cautious!

As for me...is there any suggestions from anyone regarding this posted reply to false identities????

I agree with Keepingstep, pics are not always a true picture of the individual.

I met a man on line by fluke. Sight unseen, no pictures were ever exchanged until much later. Him, being a professional man did not want to be recognized. It ended between he and I but he was my dream come true.
Some people still feel a stigma associated with online dating/personals. People have different reasons for posting and not posting pics.

I've also met men who posted pics that were outdated. One guy had a pic that I did not recognize and come to find out I already was acquainted with him at a local volunteer organization we are both members of. We were not compatible and I knew that already. Had I recognized his pic I would have stopped it at the pass.

Another man had a pic on the internet that was at least 20 years old. he had black hair in the pic and gray hair in person. Don't get me wrong I like older men but I like them to be honest.

Hairdo ROFL!

I'm sorry to laugh but that would make a really good short story. You should write it and submit it somewhere.

I mentioned this somewhere else here before; but, yes, that has happened to me a number of times. Usually, they post a 12 yr. old or so photo. I don't understand why people do that!! Isn't the aim of these ads to someday actually meet IN PERSON? And don't they realize that people have EYES, and can SEE that they are a good decade or more older than their picture?!!! I just don't get it!!!!

So many of these people are "dating" virtually, I wonder if it really does matter to them.

I think most of us who have experienced this situation can 'laugh' now.. but at the time it's very frusterating... I'm 'new' to this site however Im on another site and met a man who had a few pictures on his profile.. (all looked the same)... we finally decided to meet up, told him I'd meet him in the parking lot of the restaurant and I knew what type of car he was driving (he didnt know what I was driving)... when I pulled up and spotted his car I felt like driving my truck over his car !!!!! No offence here but in his profile he said he was 'caucasion' however sitting in this car was not only him.. but 2 of his buddies as well and they were of east indian decent. I did a fast U turn and left...
Another, was this guy who said he was a body builder blah blah, had pics (friend ??) and when I met him he was so not a body builder.. not even close.. I dont know why ppl choose to lie... alot like to play games and lead the other on. I've even had men (whom I've talked to extensively for weeks) that dont live in my area say they are flying out, tell me what time to pick them up at the airport and low and behold.. NO SHOW... shrugs..
I am who I am... my pics are recent..... there's alot of 'catch and release' in this site lol but fun doing it :)
Goodluck and keep fishin !

so how do you say. . oh I have 58 inch waist? What was the person like in chat? NO clue as to any 'problems'?
My picture is six months old. My hair color has changed and I haven't a pic yet as it's still . . um. . not grown out. People tell me it looks good, tho. I'm waiting to form my opinion. BTW, it's a sears picture, not glamor shot, I do NOT look my age, but I am it! LOL

I had a guy online, who visited me. Nice, passionate, however when I went to his place. . it turns out, he was flying to see me and not paying housepayments. His house was a disaster zone with only one sink that worked, no stove, fridge, etc. And I was so charmed in person and online. So now, I'm so careful I verge on suspicious.

AK!

I dont understand why people will put up pics of them from like 10 yrs. ago or even fake pics...you mean to tell me you have NO recent pics?! PLEASE! I dunno why people do this...maybe they are ashamed of how they look?! Heck, I dont think im the greatest looking, but im not gonna put up a pic of myself from 4 yrs. ago and mislead someone.
