I agree with you 1,000%, but it seems like the women of today are not happy with the simple thing in life.

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 5/22/2005 2:52:20 PM | | It would depend on the person. There is a serious hottie on POF who is in a chair, I would be WAY interested...but don't meet his requirements (he wants tall slim and busty). | |

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 6/13/2005 12:09:19 AM | | H. E. Double-hockey-sticks, yes!! What's the problem? Dating is about emotions, and as long as a woman's heart (the spiritual/emotional one) works right, the rest can be dealt with. Sure, there are considerations regarding caring for one another and/or money issues, but perfectly physically formed folks still have issues with that stuff. I'm not saying it wouldn't make a difference, because it would. But that's in the arena of logistics and how-are-we-gonna-pull-this-off type stuff, which can be fun and a bonding process anyway, learning to work together and be creative. The point where no disability short of serious spiritual/emotional damage (which would be a serious thing, but could also be dealt with, if the people in the relationship are committed) should be an issue is in the matters of the heart, which is where the decision to date or not ultimately should be made. Woah, somebody help me down off this soapbox (I'm dizzy). Ok, that's my pair of shillings, do with it what you will. | |

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 6/13/2005 8:21:36 AM | My ex-wife was visually impaired, but not when we met and married, and her "disability" never affected her soul or personality, so I don't see how people could consider rejecting someone because of a physical limitation. socially disabled? that only happens to the dead. | |

She passed you by? You thought she'd be grateful? You are now married and have two kids? No? What happened? Must have been funny for the "LOL" at beginning and end of your post.

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 7/20/2005 8:05:20 AM | This question is close to my heart. A couple months ago, I discovered that I kept passing out for no reason. I had a disorder, fortunately it was treatable ! It felt like having a disability. I got medication for it and I should be healed completely within a year or two. Thank God my family and my boyfriend stood by my side and helped me. I will never dismiss anyone who has a condition they can't help. I've been in that position. Ladies, gentlemen, disabled men and disabled women are people just like you. Trust me, I was there ! They need love too !!! | |

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 8/15/2005 2:01:08 AM | I agree with jpl3447...even to go so far as to say: happiness, life and love is about caring and giving, and helping to bring out the best in each other. When did it turn into a world where people look out for themselves? If a person wouldn't consider dating someone they are attracted to who is handicapped, what kind of partner would they be in the long term if something handicaps the "perfect person" they hand pick from the non-handicapped list? knock on wood, it could be you!
Understood, we all have our own opinion and taste. Never say never.

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 8/15/2005 6:26:32 AM | Those of us who don't feel comfortable around deformed/disabled people should not feel guilty about it....don't be snobby or snotty to them though....be civil, polite. It's built into us by nature to avoid imperfections in physical apearance. Disabled people shouldn't harbor anger towards those that shun them....they are only doing what's natural.....befriending/dating a disabled person is a sign of inteligence overcoming nature. ..I'm not saying EVERYBODY needs to befriend a handicapped person, but check yourself out, look closer at that disabled/handicapped person.....is it possible that person's inner person is iteresting enough to warrant some attention. if after that you still don't feel at ease about it, don't sweat it.....move on. Some disabilities affect sexual performance.......if sexual activity/performance is a serious must for you, you need to discuss that early in the relationship. | |

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 8/15/2005 6:59:23 AM | ^^^^^^ My God, but you're condescending. You must feel very superior. Good for you and your perfection. Believe me, the disabled would never feel anger towards you for shunning us.
I've never had a shortage of dates, men, or friends in my life. And not once did I feel someone took me out or wanted to get to know me because they were patronizing me or throwing me a bone.
I don't notice ever being shunned. I have no use for such small-minded gnat-like people in my life.

I don't notice ever being shunned. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ you are one of the lucky ones.....my comments were directed more about the disabled folks who aren't blessed with such good looks........they have two strikes against them. ++++++++++++ YOUR good looks are a magnet. it is easier for them to accept the disability if the person looks great.
