that message is not necessarily funny..speaking for those of us relatively few survivors who have had a brain hemorrhage...it's life and death # 1, being crippled # 2, and it really sucks # 3.
I would've thought someone your age would not have made as glib a comment as that....

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 11/30/2006 8:30:23 AM | Honestly, I would if it was a minor disability. REASON: I have been a care-giver, in one capacity or another, since I was 5 years old. Yes, I said 5. I still am, at present. Sooo, I have to be blunt/honest and say that I would like to be free of 'physical' responsibility to another person.
That may sound selfish. I could lie and say no disability would matter to me...which is not the case.
And, yes, I know I could become disabled at any time. However, now that I've been a care-giver all of my life to this point, I can honestly say, if I were disabled, I would fully understand why others would not want to take on that aspect of a relationship.

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 11/30/2006 9:32:06 AM | Many years ago I met an incredible man in a wheelchair. Absolutely georgous and had a vibrant personality. Not only was he successful, he was an olympic basketball player. We met every day three times a day for coffee at work on our breaks and lunches. We talked about many things. One of the things we talked about was music. We found out that even though we liked rock and mod we had a secret desire to listen to classical music sometimes. So one day he asked me if I would go to the Philharmonic with him. I did!!!
Yes ... there was a romantic friendship of the minds for a short time... I still think of him from time to time and wonder ... what ever happened to....

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 12/1/2006 4:24:40 PM | I would but ironically enough this question "assumes" that a disabled person can't be shallow. How about if the disabled person thinks that you don't look good enough? I am sure that has happened to someone...
It may have happened to me!

Bingo, I have to laugh that you said this, because sometimes I get called shallow, picky, etc.

| Would you date someone who is disabled. Posted: 12/2/2006 8:13:35 AM | | It should be inside what matters .Even though in a lot of cases this is not so. But then if you turn someone away because they are disabled you may be the loser not them | |
