Ummmmm.....no. It wasn't /isn't/ever will be cool. I like a few songs from Brooks and Dunn, and George Strait, and I love Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, and some "Old School" country....but it ain't cool in my books. BTW, Shania Twain is mainstream not country. And the Dixie Hicks can rot in you know where....I'm sure my better half will feel the same way... Say NO to Mullets and Plaid. Down with Rednecks!!! | |

I DO get a chuckle at all the cowboy wannabe's in their cowboy hats and boots. Don't think there are many Ranches around here...lol Yeeeeeeeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaaaw! | |

My favorite local band right now is " Hook,Line,& Sinker" .. made up of POF members this year ..to perform live for the pond on June 9 ( see party threads FishStock ) . Good cross section of Country , Blues , and Rock. Come on out and party :)

But then what defines as "country music"....there's many a "country music lover" that would debate which is pure country and what is considered Pop-Country. To some hard core country music lovers....it has to have three things in the song: A dog (either dying or dead), a pick up truck mention, and lots of yodeling inbetween.  | |

My mother used to punish us by listening to that old stuff and singing along with it and maybe that's what ruined me. She had a terrible and I mean terrible singing voice. I do have to agree that there are some songs that I will listen to but not a lot. | |

Posted: 4/16/2007 9:54:08 PM | we just saw doc walker perform in hamilton on sat nite and it was the most incrediable venue . small crowd tables and chairs set up , you could see the band up close and even a bar ! plus the ticket cost me $10 each ! listening to the best country station sure pays off.
this is how country i am >> i saw johnny cash live at maple leaf gardens in the 70s ! so call me country or a redneck gal ... thats who i am !!
