| Are there any decent, down to earth non players left in South Florida?
Posted: 3/22/2005 4:14:49 PM | You are right, "We want adventurous, confident and dangerous A*holes, not boring and predictable nice guys with questionable confidence." for some reason it seems like they all want this type of man and only look for a nice guy when they wanna get married.
There are a lot of good guys out there but women always choose the wrong ones... hum | |

It just sounds really harsh sometimes to hear the truth from another point of view. But the truth is , well , what it is,.... we do prefer adventure (doesn't everyone?) and after we make a multitude of wrong decisions we find out that with the so called boring guy was where we should have been all along. However, ... lets not forget that cravings and turn ons are still what they are and may have something to do with our divorce rate in this country. It very well could be that you 'boring guys' could step up a bit knowing what you know and be more adventurous.... huh? How bout that option. NO ONE should have to 'settle' but it happens all the time. And btw just because you ARE a good guy, perfectly capible of taking great care of a woman does not mean that you guys (you and she or THE she) will find each other with any quickness. It also doesn't mean that she CAN be kept, and/or kept happy. Balance is the key. The truest problem is that YOU guys KNOW what we want and YOU guys are not acting on your intellegence. Therefore YOU guys are leaving us to the 'wolves' and then sitting back and complaining about how you get none of the action.!. Nu un .... Not Cool!! Buck up dudes! Step up TO the action! Looks, .. for any woman worth having, ... are NOT the big deal but adventure and mystery and the 'way you make me feel' that is where it's at. And every time ... EVERY TIME, will over shadow everything else. Preference is a selection process but only a wish list and NO ONE gets the ENTIRE wish list all at once, everyone will determine what is are the most important things on their wish list and will give it a go past that. All this being said, ... you have the power. | |

My response was based on the old and tired "Why can't I find any nice guys." lament that I see or hear so often. The reason you are left to the wolves is because, like wolves, the players move in very quickly for the kill. I don't know what kind of animal you might classify the 'nice guys' as, but they're always left trying to figure out what happened after the blur of fur and fangs.

Perhaps the nice guys are as adventurous as they want to be and want a woman who is just as dull as they are. Some 'boring' guys are boring because they don't have anyone to do anything exciting with. They surround themselves with their own ilk and sit around and be boring together. Some 'boring' guys aren't boring, but no one ever knows because they don't care to find out.
What do you consider adventurous, though? Rock Climbing, Street Racing, Horseback Riding, Roller Coasters, canoeing? We don't know. We know what we like to do, what we might consider adventurous, and we'd love to find a woman who finds those things fun and adventurous and may introduce us to even more adventurous things to do.
The truest problem is that YOU guys KNOW what we want and YOU guys are not acting on your intellegence.
No, we /don't/ know what you want as often as you know what we want. It's not that women are so very complex, it's more that we think in different colors. Nice guys rarely know what women want. Maybe because we're too nice, maybe because we're naive, maybe we're too shy to show that we might have an inkling of an idea of what you want, or maybe we've just not had enough experience with women to know. Players, on the other hand, always know what women want; that's why they're players. | |

I wonder if nice guys just have bad timing because I found a woman that I'm so interested in and want a realationship with and she doesn't want that because she got out of a realationship not too long ago. (It's an incredible long story) What could frustrated nice guys do with that, patience is a virtue (hope thats spelled right) and I've been patient for almost 8 months now. I feel so lame. | |

I'm in the same boat as you but on the other side of the river; I'd like to know where to meet nice women around my age (like early to mid 20's) who aren't just out looking for the hottest piece of man-meat they can lay their paws on, where are the young women who appreciate a good guy around here? Most ironic people tell me to stop looking in bars and clubs, try libraries and parks... go to a library in south florida I dare ya... EMPTY! How about the park? EMPTY! Well except maybe some parents and their kids, or a whole slew of folks that don't speak english =(
Everyone in my age bracket seems exclusive to a "go to work, go to college, go to bars/clubs, repeat cycle next week" lifestyle... honestly, I'm a nice, decent, great and funny guy, why do you think I'm on a dating site? Simple, there is no place where nice people can get together down here... of course the most ironic part of all being that there are women on this site here for the exact same reason, supposedly looking for a nice local guy, well I emailed em and they don't reply to their email nomatter how simple and short, long and thought out, or plain old quirky and clever of an email I write, so I guess it's still just the same shallow game of looks on here as well. | |

where do you meet nice people. It seem like down here its what u look like, what u make and what u drive. It's getting pretty depressing. Are there no real nice people out there that want to know u for u?
I've been in south Florida for 14+ years now and divorced over 6 and haven't figured out where to meet a 'nice guy' in my age group - over 50. At the rate things are going, I likely never will. I seem to be invisible just as they are. Please tell me I'm wrong  | |

I hear this ALL the time, there are plenty of us out here, but my observations over the past 11 years of “singleness” (sorry, not a word), it’s the Bad Boy Players that women go for, so we move on.
Now, go ahead everyone, let me have it, let’s hear the ladies “no we don’t!!!!”…okay fine, that’s just what I’ve seen time and time again, and, “not that there’s anything wrong with that”, I’m just my tossing in my opinion. | |

Now explain to me again how its our fault you are making bad decisions?
After you explain that perhaps you can explain why we should change ourselves for a person who makes bad decisions? Are you thinking we should "rescue" you? That sounds a tad bit co-dependent!
How about this, we wait for you to grow up and figure out that chasing bad boys is just gonna get you screwed.... but then after enough screwing your self esteem is shot and THEN you figure out you want a nice guy and by then we don't want you and then... TA DA!!! All men are jerks!!!
How about we just follow this advice: To thine own self be true.
Because the truth of the matter is, stupid little girls play stupid little games and chase stupid little bad boys.
Personally, I want a grown up woman who understands who she is... and women like that don't chase bad boys...
And as for us being adventurous, a real man knows when and how to be adventurous and when and how to be nice. Just being nice up front helps us separate the stupid little girls from the women.
And personally, I hope the stupid little girls keep looking right on past me... | |

Funny, I can find plenty of interested women around Orlando, Tampa, Daytona, and further north. I've even driven up to meet a few. But when I talk to the gals in Aventura, or Ft. Lauderdale, I'm too far away for them to get involved with. Dont worry, I hear the same stories from them as well. Seems to be a universal problem. | |

Yep....& guess what?
It works, especially if you are realitively unencumbered & have the discretionary income to finance those adventures!
Except that once a guy does this, he can date whomever he chooses (because there are always women who want the dangerous, exciting guy). & most likely he's going to be drawn to those exciting types of women he could never date before: the young, hot, fancy-free hardbodies. If those women turn out to be unstable, flighty headcases who don't want an LTR with him......so what? That's the same reaction he's ALWAYS gotten from women & there's always another one within easy reach.
Sounds like we've just created another player, right? 
Of course, there is a fine balance between the two, but I'm not sure if most guys ever make it there. Or women for that matter. | |
