| Some of life’s best quotes and sayings: Posted: 9/3/2006 1:14:34 AM | I loved the one in Monster-in-law: Life is too short to live the same day twice
Some I made up myself: Everyone that comes into your life is either there to teach you a lesson or to be taught one by you.
Keep your feet on the ground, your head in the clouds and your heart on your sleeve and you'll find the best the world has to offer.
The mistakes of my past are my wisdom for my future.

| Some of life’s best quotes and sayings: Posted: 9/3/2006 6:56:39 PM | | Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket--safe, dark, motionless, airless--it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable. | |

| Some of life’s best quotes and sayings: Posted: 9/3/2006 7:46:45 PM | Just finished a book by Truman Capote, "Summer Crossing". I liked it, and decided to surf the net for a few minutes to read up on his life and times. Came across this gem of a quote attributed to him:
"Failure is the condiment that gives success its flavor".
Who couldn't use that a few times in their lives'.
Or, another venerable favorite of mine, "Hard work ain't easy". Yea, that's my Dad's. Sort of a Bob Uecker, or Yoggie type saying isn't it.

To laugh is to risk appearing a fool To weep is to risk appearing sentimental To reach out for another is to risk involvement To expose felings is to risk exposing our true self To place your ideas, your dreams, before a crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return To live is to risk dying To hope is to risk despair to try is to to risk failure But risks must be taken , for the grater hazard is to risk nothing, The person who risks nothing does nothing, has nothing and is nothing They may avoid sufferring and sorrow. but they cannot learn, change, grow, love, live, Chanined by thier attitude they are a slave, they have forfeited freedom Only a person who risks is free.

| Some of life’s best quotes and sayings: Posted: 9/5/2006 7:44:10 AM | | “You live like this, sheltered, in a delicate world, and you believe you are living. Then you read a book(Lady Chatterley, for instance), or you take a trip, or you talk with Richard, and you discover that you are not living, that you are hibernating. The symptoms of hibernating are easily detectable: first, restlessness. The second symptom(when hibernating becomes dangerous and might degenerate into death): absence of pleasure. That is all. It appears like an innocuous illness. Monotony, boredom, death. Millions live like this(or die like this) without knowing it. They work in offices. They drive a car. They picnic with their families. They raise children. And then some shock treatment takes place, a person, a book, a song, and it awakens them and saves them from death."” ~Anais Nin | |

| Some of life’s best quotes and sayings: Posted: 9/5/2006 9:33:32 PM | “You can shed tears that she is gone, or you can smile because she has lived. You can close your eyes and pray that she'll come back, or you can open your eyes and see all she's left. Your heart can be empty because you can't see her, or you can be full of the love you shared. You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday, or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday. You can remember her only that she is gone, or you can cherish her memory and let it live on. You can cry and close your mind, be empty and turn your back. Or you can do what she'd want: smile, open your eyes, love and go on.” | |

I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong... I don't have to know an answer. I don't feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without any purpose, which is the way it really is as far as I can tell. It doesn't frighten me."
