| | Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends?Page 4 of 5 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) | Good question but something to remember : it's been shown that the more time two people of the opposite sex ( and I imagine this applies to homosexuals as well) spend with each other, the more likely they are to develop an attraction to each other. It isn't true in all cases of course but sooner or later the thought runs through peoples' minds no matter how fleeting it may be.
Can it be done ? Sure, I suppose they can be friends. Eventually they're going to consider getting it on whether they act on it or not though.

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 11/13/2006 11:05:46 PM | Yes, guys and girls can be friends.
I've been friends with one of my guy pals since we were 6 yrs old, We are both now 49, still friends and we do keep in touch.
Our friendship has grown and evolved. He has had many girlfriends along the way and a wife, now on wife number 2, but we have endured. I have had many boyfriends, a husband, (now an ex) and boyfriends since then, again our friendship survives.
We've been frineds for 43 yrs now, granted we don't talk as often as we once did or see each other when we want, but we do communicate. Thank heavens for email! He is in the US traveling with his job, I am in sw Ontario. If the desire is there and the friendship based on a solid foundation, it like any relationship built well will endure.

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 11/14/2006 12:24:58 AM | Obviously there are two answers. For a hilarious answer please refer to www.theladdertheory.com or maybe its just www.laddertheory.com.
My answer is yes. I have two fairly close female friends who I have never had romantic feelings for. Both of them are attractive yes but I have never considered doing the no pants dance with them.
I do have one friend who I have had romantic interest in as well and I am still friends with my ex. So I think if a guy has any sense of chivalry, he can exist as a friend to women.

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 11/14/2006 12:21:58 PM | Platonic freinds? Of course. Loyal to the bitter end platonic freinds? Hardly. Unless the guy is gay. Then they will be as close as Paris and Nicole.(are they still freinds?) | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 11/14/2006 2:00:34 PM | Yes. I have a handful of good female friends that I wouldn't want to think of naked.
If there is attraction, the friendship will either have limits, like Sid is saying, or someone's going to get hurt.

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 11/14/2006 5:34:59 PM | | Guys and chicks can be friends but only for a short. Every time I find a female friend, either I will develop feelings for her or vise versa after sometime. The guy or chick friend will even feel jealous when one or other date other persons. | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 11/14/2006 5:40:54 PM | | Chicks and guys are rarely strickly friends. I think the most common occurance of chicks being guys just friends friends is when they are religious or gay. I mean you mght have a few platonic friends, but I think friendship between a guy and a girl only happens on a platonic level if there are other fun or very good things to be gained or enjoyed from the friendly relation, or if they've shared a bond and care about each other. Otherwise, I think because there's the sexual tension and jealousy issues, that occur naturally when you get to know someone you feel attracted to from the opposite sex, it's harder to be just friends. | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 12/25/2006 8:19:44 PM | Oh, here we go again with the 'chicks' word being used Anyways, yes men and 'women' can be strictly friends. I have some and no I do not want to have sex with them nor would they want to have sex with me. It never crossed my mind nor have they ever approached me. I believe we know each others boundries. I don't have that kind of relationship with them and I wouldn't dream of crossing that line with them. It would be so weird and I know they don't think of me that way. Years ago at a party I even tried making out with a guy friend of mine and both of us kept on laughing hysterically when we tried to kiss each other. It just felt wrong and I've never done that again with another guy friend of mine now that I'm older. However, I do believe that the base of any possible relationship should start off with friendship which many people forget that is an important aspect to a healthy one. You can start off being being friends, get to know each other and if both have mutual feelings for each other then take the next step on to another level. That to me is a mature relationship to have with someone. It's also ideal for me knowing the type of person I'am. I have respect for myself and my guy friends so yes women can be friends with men. | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 12/25/2006 8:31:08 PM | | It is very likely a man and woman can be just friends. So long as the woman doesn't offer her body to the guy. Then it might turn into FWB. | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 12/25/2006 10:06:50 PM | | Just depends, have you an aversion to friendship? being strictly friends has a conatation of a baseball bat handy just in case things go further, like grab the bat to get things back on track to your way of thinking. What's the risk, you have the bat? | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 12/25/2006 11:44:49 PM | | Absolutely...most of my friends are guys and my bestest friends are guys. If they have other intentions, then they're not a true friend. | |

| Can Chicks and Guys be strickly friends? Posted: 12/26/2006 12:42:32 AM | Yes, it's called hanging out together and simply just being friends.
I actually think its really good having women as friends. And it is nice for a change for women. They don't have to expect anything more. Sometuimes having guys as just friends, its a good thing. As long as the guy is honest, straight forward, and simply keeping things on a friends basis, then everything should be great.
