| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/1/2006 8:33:22 PM | Gee I hope not. I only have five years to count down if thats the case. My last lover was 61...very agile very very...how can I say...very very. UMMMMMM.
I know I won't be having sex like I did when I was in my forties (it was much better than in my twenties). Perhaps, when I do find my fella, we won't be having sex at all. But PLEASE tell me he'll still be able to kiss and snuggle and carass. Then, who knows, we might just be the hottest couple on the dance floor. I always wanted to learn to do the tango. Did anyone tell you dancing was like making love???
Okay...I'm not dead yet.

Say x is the amount of improvement between the age of 20 and 40, then wonder if there will be x amount of improvement from 40 to 60. If you find the right fellah, make that 2x and then begin to wonder what happens between 60 and 80. The good bits don't wear out you know. People just make excuses because they lack imagination. | DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/2/2006 8:43:41 AM | My 60th birthday comes in ten days, and believe me, I will celebrate. I NEVER thought I would live this long, much less still have my health and still be having so much fun. I can still ride my horse, play with my dogs, laugh with my friends, do a few folk tunes with my guitar on amateur night. I'm working on my smiles; laughing seems to come easy, but smiling is hard. I feel sorry for the OP, I hope he doesn't like it that I feel sorry for him. Whatever it is that he feels he must do in his final remaining 15 years, I hope it brings him joy, he has much need of it. Perhaps it will reawaken his heart until, like the Grinch, he remembers how wonderful life is, how short life is, what a miracle to be alive every day. Keep repeating....."Dare we hope? Dare we believe?......Dare we NOT hope? Dare we NOT believe....." If what goes around truly does come around, and it does, then I intend to keep joy and passion alive, and make my life the best it can be. MP

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/2/2006 9:25:48 AM | I was not looking for a "knight in shining armour" nor did I have idealistic dreams of what a relationship might be like at this time of life. I did hope to find new friends though and was open to the possibility of meeting someone I'd enjoy spending time with.
Much to my delight, I met someone who reopened my heart while I opened his. And, just as important, we are the closest of friends.
I believe, we can never know what is around the corner unless we look.
Cheers! | |

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/3/2006 6:49:47 PM | Good evening Hortense,
Thanks for the mathematical equation.
When I was 18 years old I lived across the hall from an elderly couple. They had separate bedrooms only because she had broken her hip years before and he slept on the couch so he would not bump her by accident during the night and cause her pain. Later, they realized they preferred sleeping alone because of many reasons...so they slept better. However....if either got amorous...the other was more than happy to scootch over and recipocate the feeling. They were both in their 70's when I met them.
Wow... | |

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/7/2006 6:46:54 PM | | To Eastsideeddie:You sound pretty bitter, no to be honest you sound like a prick. If you don't like women, I guess you're right in getting out of the dating thing. Maybe you should try dating men. Perhaps that would be more to your liking and it is becoming very socially acceptible these days. Much more so than trashing women. Everyone older has a past, so do you, so deal with it. | |

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/13/2006 2:30:34 PM | | I'll be 60 in 2 years And I all ready feel left behind!!!!!!....... But it is my own fault I seem to find women less and less attractive these days. Not that they are, its just me and what ever I'm going through. I seem to think the older I get the less important women are to me. I do want a companion so very bady but I always seem to strike out. So its getting to the point were I don't care as much!!!! anyone know what I mean? | |

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/13/2006 2:55:18 PM | Yes, I do, Highwater. This has been a topic of conversation with me and several friends...male and female. They are a little dismayed at me. I readily admit to being a hopeless romantic. I have wept many tears at the possiblity that I will never hug another warm snuggly man in my life. The last heart ache was almost to much to bare.
I heard somewhere that each time someone breaks your heart...it gets harder to get over it. Its hard to trust. I used to be the first to agree with the philosophy of "dance like no one was watching and love like you've never been hurt".
Lately, my attitude has gotten better...instead of bitter...and interestingly enough, I have prospects coming around again. Still, I'm far more selective now. I'm more into good friendships at this point. So, is that part of the aging process???? Not sure. Anyway, I suggest you get out there and stay active. I'm way into dancing...something about if you dance, you'll never grow old. We need dancing smiley's

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/22/2006 11:05:29 PM | ....Hello, I just happened to be passing thru and read the question: "Do we over 60's get left behind?"
Well, if you'll permit me to thrown in my two-cents.....I'll be 67 next month and I really don't give a rat's a$$ over being left behind. I'm retired, ride my two motorcycles, do some extensive biker traveling and photography and enjoy an active social life. I'm a member in three motorcycle social clubs in southern and central Arizona.
I've met and or dated several ladys slightly younger than me in Arizona who were on their third or fourth divorce and who, IMHO, acted like they decended from royal family. After a few episodes of their materialistic demands with reciprocating, I move on!
I'm sure in time I'll find someone who is compatable with me, and perhaps can even tolerate me, but until then I really don't worry about being left behind!
Be safe and be healthy....

| DO WE OVER 60'S GET LEFT BEHIND? Posted: 10/23/2006 12:41:11 AM | DAY1000 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Good for you! Good for anyone else, no matter their age, who isn't satisfied with allowing life get on without them --because of their age. I've said in these age threads that are constantly popping up: 40s-50s, and now this 60s thread, that life is to be lived and enjoyed as you only have one go around. So, why not accept any limitations that come up and stay interested in doing what you love as long as you can? Interests attracts interest. Plus it keeps you young, active, and involved. Why are so many people, long before they even get to be 50, feel so left out, and without value with nothing to offer unless they have a significant other? I just don't understand this.
I may never meet the one (again), at any future time of my life, but I'm certainly not the least bit bitter or concerned about that. Instead of crying in my beer -- which I refuse to do, I take great pleasure in meeting people and having fun. That's my whole outlook on life -- enjoying it! I'm getting ready to take a french speaking course and one in astronomy at the local college. Also, I want to try archery. I never ever plan to join the front porch rocking chair folks at any time, for as the saying goes, I'm living with joy and gusto to very the end, and shouting hot damn all the way.
