| ‘Survivor’ to Divide Teams Along Racial Lines Posted: 9/3/2006 3:02:47 PM | The one problem with pitting Americans vs Canadians vs Dutch vs Iraqis vs Kenyans vs Spaniards vs the French is this...
Canadians would so obviously win. Really, it wouldn't be very fair to the other countries.
Heh, heh, heh... | |

| ‘Survivor’ to Divide Teams Along Racial Lines Posted: 9/3/2006 5:19:30 PM | | Many people here seem to be under the assumption that just because the teams are divided by race that that necessarily means that something racist has to happen or that it's going to be the end of the last 200 years of progression against racism. I'd put money on it that the producers of Survivor made damn sure they went through strict interviewing processes and followed strict guidelines when choosing their contestants..... most likely assessing every contestant's background and level of racist tendencies. They are not looking to create a war here, they admitted in the interview that it was an issue they felt they could deal with. To me, this is nothing more than just another way to creatively divide the teams - as they do every year to mix it up - and is a way to address the "token" minority accusations they've had against them in the past. I'm personally looking forward to watching... not because I want to compare my race to others ("us against them" mentality)..... but simply because I want to see the same thing we see each year - controversies and struggles, competitions and winners and losers. I think it's people that are playing the racism card, crying "this is racist" that are the ones that are perpetuating the racism. Can't we just look at this as 4 teams playing against each other? | |

| ‘Survivor’ to Divide Teams Along Racial Lines Posted: 9/3/2006 5:42:37 PM | I'm with you mzalleycat........I just wish people would see the big picture as opposed to condemning something and drumming up the race card everytime something interesting like this happens....
I for one wanted a survivor like this from day one....not because I wanted to see which race could do better but just to see what the interaction would be and simply put....to be entertained......
I think everyone who feels that it is necessary to drum up the race card should just flip the channel when it comes on and move on with life, instead of harping on it......
Jeez people it's television......grab a kick back and enjoy or just watch CNN if everything else is gonna cause you all stress.......... | |

| ‘Survivor’ to Divide Teams Along Racial Lines Posted: 9/4/2006 2:07:54 PM | I was actually quite surprised when I heard this .. but what else is Survivor gonna do to get to their 1000th season? ... lol ..
They've done the young against the old and guy against the girl and weak against the jocks and the greasers against the soshes .. lmao .. but this is definately gonna cause some controversy and I'm sure lots of jokes on radios and late-night talk shows ...
Me thinks I smell the end of a long-running reality show series ....
